  • I have the same phone and have yet to have this problem; then again i don't put it on airplane mode. i just connect to internet and it works just fine.

  • well first of all, why turn on airplane mode. That there begins a whole heap of trouble. SOme phones cant even use wifi when airplane mode is on

  • Cn u do another review on fav apps, games, opera mobile.thks

  • @femmseekinstud1 sorry returned this phone because i had these issues.

  • Same problem with an Optimus Slider. I (think) that I fixed the problem by changing the encryption on the router. I had it set to WPA2-PSK, and the phone would connect, but the wifi icon was white (as described in the video), and I couldn't do any data activities.

I changed my wifi router's encryption to WPA "any," and the phone connects, wifi icon is green, and data activity is normal.

  • I think I figured it out. When you go into wifi settings hit the menu button and select advanced. Then under wifi sleep, change it to never. I did it and it never happened again.

  • @prtsparta That is very strange then...have you tried hitting the Menu key when at the screen to check airplane mode, wifi etc? That is the problem here though, the wifi sleep policy. It needs to be set to never. When you are at the screen with the available networks, what happens when you click the menu button? Also what version of gingerbread is your phone running?

  • @Blimp117 Its running the most current version, but i can't test the phone no more cause the people at radio shack said it was an issue with the device, and they said I can't do nothing about it so i sent it back.

  • @prtsparta Sorry to hear that then. That's strange the Advanced option didn't come up. Are you getting another Slider or another phone?

  • @Blimp117 Im not getting another phone right now. I only got this one cause of the specs and slide out keyboard.

  • What is your WiFi Sleep Policy set to? Go to Menu - Settings - Wireless and Networks - WiFi Settings and then when you see available networks hit the Menu key on your phone and click Advanced and set the WiFi Sleep Policy to Never. Hope I helped!

  • @Blimp117 Never had any advanced options like that. Even the guys at radio shack had no idea how to fix it.

  • @Blimp117 thanks, that advanced settings thing helped with my problem. my old lg optimus didnt have the sleep option. Thank you! almost took this phone back because of this.

  • @TheWojnarowskia You're welcome!

  • Why didn't you get just an iPod? Its the same price...

  • @DACNewsNetwork I have 2 of them a 2nd gen and a 4th gen, but i didn't like how restricted they are and i wanted the android market place. I only got this cause they said it would be just like my ipod, and i also wanted a slide out keyboard.

  • @prtsparta Oh, Have you heard of the Samsung Galaxy Player??? That sounds like what you're looking for. It has 4"/ 5" Screen sizes... reviews.cnet.com /2300-6499_7-10010061

  • @DACNewsNetwork Wow this thing looks great! Thanks for the tip... I might buy one now.

  • It's not broken, there has to be a setting to keep wifi on while the phone is locked. It does that to save battery life.

  • @EBouch25 Do you know where it is? Cause i never saw a setting and neither did the people ad radio shack. They said the device must be defective, and now the replacement wont work right at all.
