  • I am in South Africa and many years ago also learned Pan Nam Wing Chun, but under Sifu Lan Hing Fung, who studied under Lai Yip Chi, who studied directly under master Pan Nam. This was before people talked about it openly or Edddie Chong made it popular. My Sifu's focus was much on Chi-kung cultivation and application. The deeper secret's was however only reserved for closed door disciples (I wasn't one). I miss it...

  • Seems very similar to the form of Wing Chun I'm learning. I wonder if mine's Pan Nam as well?

  • BuzzTIB: In reading through these responses i noticed you displayed good kung-fu, until it became a matter of name calling in the end. You spoke of Kung-fu character, so let me say...

"Ying Dar Juck Dar, But Ying Dar, But Hor Dar, Mo Keung Dar, Mot Luen Dar."

Meaning: When you should hit, hit. When you shouldn't, don't. Don't when you can't. Don't when you mustn't."

-Anyway, learn to let go of those hot coals you wish to throw in revenge; in the end you are the one being burned.

  • Even my Sifu chided me for retaliatory comments and believe it or not my temper is not as bad as it used to be so you are correct in your statement. No matter what someone else says, I am responsible for what my response is and I take this as another lesson in just chilling out and letting the negativity go instead of letting it get a hold of me.

  • Wow, there must have been some really RUDE comments to get deleted and responded to with such hostility. Gentleman im of Moy Yat lineage, not Pan Nam, in-fact stumbling on these videos is the first time I've EVER heard of Pan Nam from any master, or any wing chun/ving tsun/wing tsun practitioner. This may be different but it is Wing Chun if that is what your Sifu told you. I would love to know what generation you are in the Wing Chun lineage? I for example am 12th generation.

  • I'm 6th generation Yip Man family and 3rd generation Pan Nam family. I must still add, my embarisment at my own words. But yesterday is gone, tomorrow is unknown and today is a gift that's why it's called present. So today, I grow further and hopefully tomorrow shall grow even more. :o)

  • Please enlighten us and show us YOUR superior skills. Please post a video for our education. Just curious, for my own edification - where do you get your information from on Pan Nam?

  • Please let us know where you got the news and how you know Pan Nam is a Town Drunk? Do have any Facts? World Wide Wing Chun Practitioners and history has already shown that Pan Nam had been recognized in The Wing Chun Community. Please Show us the facts you know about Pan Nam. If not don't simply make words as if it is a fact. You have no "Martial Arts Ethics" learn more about martial arts not just the skills but the moral.

  • considering there are so very few Pan Nam practicioners here in the U.S. and not that many anywhere else, where/who did you touch hands with? Where are you located?

  • i went to foshan and did chi sao with this guy. knowing what i now know i would not study from them.

  • wont you let us know what you know?

  • Perhaps he's not an accurate reprisentation of Pan Nam system. Just because someone says they do this or that, does not mean they're good, or that they represent the benefit's of the system. You said you did chi sao, please post your wing chun video so we may see your skills and learn from them.

  • pan nam is what got me into wing chun

  • that's a beautiful form. it looks like san sic siu nim tao.

  • Not alot of people get it. I just talked to Sifu Chong over the weekend, and if you want to learn it you should contact Sifu Eddie Chong, he is the best that I have seen on this system. Peace, and let's all be cool on here.. I love Wing Chun, and my Ak 47's, Glock's, S&W AR15, etc... Get my point

  • Sorry im just joking just edgy. Sorry if anyone was affended by my comment, please accept my dearest apologies. Sorry to this guy and the person who posted it. Sorry to all the people that may have read this and thought i was a mean retard. Sorry all. This video was superb =]

  • woah...kinda bipolar

  • This looks great, seen it before on DVD (Complete Peng Nan Pan Nam WC)

Looks like TaiChi meets WingChun and i like it :)

  • Eddie Chong, has learned ALL of the Pan Nam style of Wing Chun, I went over to Fatshan with him and met and trained with Pan Nam. he is the best teacher and is very open with his teachings. Any questions please feel free to comment and I can show videos of Sifu Chong training and my pics with Pan Nam.. All wing chun students should unite!

  • i agree.

  • That was great; thanks for the sequence.

  • he's an idiot...

  • and you base this on?.......because whether I think this guy learned from the VCD's or directly from a Pan Nam Sifu, he's anything but an idiot......

  • Very different from the Siu Nim Tao from Yip Man's lineage !

  • I didn't want to say anything negative but, to me it looks like this fellow "might" have actually learned off the DVD's.....

  • This clip comes off a set of DVDs that I have seen on ebay. They are a bit weak on applications. BUT it is very useful to know that there are other forms of wing chun beyond Yip man.

  • Awesome, I'm under Sifu Kyle Weygandt a Student of Sigung Chong's. I'm sure I'll be that way within this year or so and I'd be honored to look you up. Yes, this style is awesome and I've always gravitated more towards the "different or unique" and as Sifu in both Wing Chuns systems under Master Chongs family, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've not had the honor of meeting Sigung yet but I know I will soon. Peace to all!

  • Maybe I should let sleeping dogs lie but! According to those who Pan Nam he was quite open anyway. He didn't really have closed door students and Sifu Chong never really finished the system with Pan Nam. I also verified this when I Met Pan Nam's family in Fatshan.

  • I like to clarify my earlier comments about Sifu Chong! Some, if not all, of the stuff about how &where Eddie Chong got his Pan Nam may be to do with bad politics. Regardless, Eddie Chong is an experienced, skilled Wing Chun practitioner. Sifu Chong has done a lot to promote Pan Nam WC outside the little corner of Southern China & for that he deserves our respect and admiration. My sincerest apologies to Sifu Chong & his students!

  • I'm not interested in PN Wing Chun, but it should be spelled differently because the Chinese character for "wing" from PNWC means forever as opposed to Ip Man's style where the word "wing" means to recital or to praise. However, your story reminds me of Leung Thug. Every style, every lineage has some "opportunists" who will claim to be "closed door" student for better marketing, LOL!

  • You right and wrong. easy for a foreigner to make this mistake. yes it makes forever but some WC style in china means sounds depending on character. but pan nam was only famous because his style was open. there are 4 famous style in futsan. 1 of them are still not opened till today. overlooked some might say.

  • interesting, what are the diferences between pan am and others wing chun families?

  • Pan Nam Wing Chun has a lot of clawing, controlling and Chin Na (Joint Locking) in it. Also all of the forms have Qigong in them and the movements must coincide with certain breaths. The single and double Chi Sao isn't a rolling of the arms, but is similar to Tai Chi push hands to develop sensitivity and ability to control. The Dummy form focuses on flowing like Tai Chi and contains clawing and eye gouging in it.

  • Pan Nam (Mainland China / Fushan) Wing Chun just like the Yip Man (Hong Kong) system does have 3 empty hand forms named Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Jee, a Dummy Form and a Knife form and Staff form. All these forms contain the principals I've already listed. Pan Nam did however have a seperate Qigong form that was strictly for developing Qigong called Five Petal Plum Blossom Qigong which Pan Nam called a Lost Treasure of Shaolin Training.

  • Abi Dawud you hit the nail on the head all the way around. Where are you located? I'm in Northern Jersey and occasionally in Florida.

  • I grew up in Queens, NY but as a young adult in my early 20's I relocated to Sacramento, CA. That is where I met Sifu Eddie Chong, the last closed door disciple and student that Grand Master Pan Nam ever accepted. It was through Sifu Chong and my

brother-in-law who was a closed door student to Sifu Chong that I had the rare opportunity to learn this system.

  • He does the forms really well, but he's hiding the clawing motions in the form.

  • Although his form is different from mine,I can still see the Wing Chun movements.

  • Vely interesting.
