This was Paul's first solo single. Although radio stations around the world played the track "Maybe I'm Amazed", no singles were released from the McCartney" album. "Another Day" was a stand alone single, released in early 1971. Paul believed at the time that singles should not be on albums. He changed his mind later that year when he released two singles from the "Ram" album ("Uncle Albert" in North America, "Back Seat Of My Car" in Europe)

I understand Paul went through a real depression during this time--drinking heavily, not bathing often, basically morose as hell that the Beatles, which had defined him for so many years, were no more. John mentioned, I think, that Paul sounded depressed on this track, and I for one can hear it. Still catchy as hell, but I'm glad Linda kicked him in the ass and told Paul, more or less, "You are Paul eff-ing McCartney! You are a huge talent. Get over it and move on!" And he did.
