If im not mistaken the MG42's where used in World War 2, but you can buy them just not full auto unless you have a class 3 license. but just about semi auto gun you can convert into full auto. Some are as easy as just file down the firing pin or buying another part from a differnt country and have it shiped to your front door. Just dont get caught, its a felony and you can spend 25 years or more in prison for it....
my girlfriend is from Lithuania, they still use this MG in their armed forces, a true testament to the outstanding design and longevity of this awesome weapon. it must have been a terrifying experience being on the receiving end of that kind of rate of fire.
My heart is with my country. the battle is with my enemy. as an american i love our full proof weaponery. being retired army 20+, i would take the german mg-42 over the m-60 echo-4 to date. if we would give up the m-249 as the u.s saw and work on a mg that has a fr like the mg-42 bring it. we could use it.U.S.A FOREVER. maybe those guys from dillon could help us.
@hyunki0510 i think it was quite the opposite...when machinegunners fired their mg42...and had infantry support...allied soldiers could only take cover and be pinned down...
@hyunki0510 Thats because they were the two most important infantry targets. Kill a machine-gunner, save 10 friendlies, and kill a medic, kill 10 more enemy soldiers
During my military time in germany I used this baby. It´s a beast, really. At exercises in forests, whe used it to cut down small trees to make a camping fire. The only problem is, that the gun is so fast, that the tube is very fast very very hot, and you have to be carefull, that it not explodes. Thats why you have a second one to change, that the first one can cool down. By the way, I really think, till today the best machine gun in the world. Its fast, great penetrating power and steadfast
i showed this video to my grandpa, next thing i know, he thinks hes back at normandy and he tries to shovel out my "german shit filled heart" with a spoon.
@IronHorse2007 Thats why we based the M60 off of this design.. They realized it would be more accurate and bettter on ammo so they reduced the rounds per minute and changed where you load new barrels.. among other differences..
Very good weapon the MG42(Hitlersäge) very fast and good range the 7.92*57mm Mauser bullets! in germany we can`t shooting full-autos,silencers,flashlight for weapons, germany is a shit country! i love this, in usa can shooting and have no problems,i shoot K98(7,92),Mosin Nagant(7.62),Remington700(7.62),AK74semi-automatic(5.54),Heckler&Koch MK.308 and Pistols 45ACP,9mmPara
man, that thing is deadly. Imagine being on the other end, assaulting a beach like Omaha and a well trained Wehrmacht is firing at u. I'm so, surprised the Normandy beaches were taken.
@akilla214u2c They overheat very easy are not as reliable as you think.
Still very good weapons. The unreliability gave the allies an atvantage. The American browning .30 cal was more reliable even though it didnt shoot as fast. The water cooled browning was even better.
@ANDREAILB No wonder they were afraid, it was a hell of a weapon design. It was so succesful it's even in use today, as the MG3 in the Bundeswehr (German army), with slight modification, of course.
@ANDREAILB True and i saw the video on a TV show on the U.S. in WW2 and it was mainly just saying (and it actully said this)that "the bark is bigger than its bite!" and same with the Brits but i have no idea what they said in the video
@navySEALteam5 Yes, they lied to their soldiers to motivate them. In fact, it's bite is bigger than it's bark. It has some very good reasons, why the german soldiers gave that weapon names like "Hitlersäge" (Hitlersaw) "Knochensäge" (bonesaw) and Menschensäge (humansaw).. and my grandpa told me some realy horrific things what happened when they began to lay down lead on allied soldiers... ripped to pieces would be a good definition....
@ANDREAILB Yea, i mean during WW2 it was the fastest gun of them all. Imagine being use to hearing "Ta ta ta ta ta" and then all of a sudden getting pinned down by "Trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". Besides from being deadly, this was a psychological weapon so it did double work. It was like the artillery the Japs used that could barely kill anything but it sounded horrible and it scared a lot of American troops to the point they could not focus.
My grandpa was a dead skull mg shooter. Gladly, he catched the tuberculosis on his train to the eastern front and spend the whole freaky war in a czech hospital :-)
His unit has been completeley exterminated by the russians.
