It also makes me think of Freudian and Jungian psychology which is also designed to hack the brain for one's own good. Although they didn't use music, they used specific words. I'm pretty sure that some modern day psychoanalysts use soothing music as part of their therapy.
Great video! The thought of music hacking the brain makes me think of TOOL in particular because their songs have a tendency to bring to the surface the emotions that remain lurking inside. It is like TOOL wants to help you face and in turn cope with your emotions, especially those in the underlying subconscious. Sometimes when something is on my mind or in the back of my mind and some specific TOOL song comes on, it feels like it helps me come to a greater understanding of the issue.
really interesting topic as always... i think music and art speak directly to the soul... and yes... there are many who know this at tap right in to suit their own purposes... and i so agree... we are bombarded with "input" from the day we are born... and yes... music and seduction are linked... it is a wonder any of us can have any clear thought...
One of the biggest is bicambrial beats that can over take the complete brain function without the listener ever knowing the extent of control, most can listen and say I got nothing out of it, the maker got everything from you. to defeat the rituals of Saturn is to know they exist, and always stay in the now so you can counter the effects, everything man made is affecting you through Saturn, time is given to you from Saturn, there is nowhere you can hide now with nanotechnology
Very interesting. I would guess that tv commercial makers are the current experts combining sight and sound. Ever notice how toddlers become inthralled by tv commercials?
Imagine what they could do if they have access to our touch, smell, and taste inputs.
Most computer hacks are due to programming errors which can be avoided by using a higher-level language which make it impossible for these errors to occur (e.g. stack overflow). Some are due to flaws in the design of communication protocols which allow unintended behaviour - these flaws can effect any implementation of the protocol. Encryption is just a sophisticated form of obfuscation.
2D images require higher brain function to decode, to convert the edges into volumetric shapes that can be recognized. This occupies the conscious mind as one constructs an imaginary scene, meaning that you can't, at the same time, oppose the message. It's similar with chanting. The speech is long and drawn out, so you have to consciously isolate and decode the key parts of the signal. And yes, I think the graphics and sounds on cable news have similar purposes, to distract your thought.
i woud argue that the power of music was recognized very early on - percussion always assists leaders of a group, for ex, or excites otherwise unwilling mates
my tibetan buddhist teachers also warn against listening and playing too much music - they say it can interfere with the work of mantra chants and other practices we do to open chakras and straighten/clear channels - music can decrease your sensitivity, as you point out, and can twist/tighten your energy body's channels so the energy does not flow well -
@jamphellhamo I know the demons behind chakras and the kundalini, get all stirred up with hate when within earshot of good well written hymns about Jesus, the Son of God.
elena mannes book Power of Music is very good - music excites or depresses excitotoxins and neurotransmitters - interesting the connection to language and similar brain processing - shakespeare used words to excite ( for ex., the early wrestling scene in As You Like It, which raisied audience upupup, so they were "ready" for nest scene - william was extraordinarily clever at this) - spoen language works slightly differently than written because of the vibrations involved - good vibrations, chant
Good thoughts! I have watched TED lectures, and they do seem clueless about certain things, almost like there is a set of research that is too taboo to pursue.

Also, the hacking/programming comparison is interesting because most of the greatest computer language designers and engineers were also musicians.
