Atheism is a single answer to a single question. When asked, "do believe a god or gods exist" and your answer is anything but yes, you are an atheist. Every single other view on any other topic, is completely seperate.

Everything that happened with Jesus and the apostles is written in other history books of their time besides the Bible. The best argument i can think of against atheism and evolution is that somehow this guy and these beliefs have been deemed fit enough to survive for thousands of years.

Generally speaking atheists prefer proof before believing anything. I as an atheist am perfectly OK with not knowing something. It is a far better approach to life to me to always inquire and build upon learning as opposed to making broad sweeping assumptions like, “since something can’t be explained or isn’t known, it must be god.” This kid's argument is diluded at best.
The first problem with this whole argument is right in the title of this video. Start with the definition of atheism: “One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.” That is all. Period. End of story. By definition of atheism alone there is nothing to contradict. There is no bible, Koran, dogmas or what have you by which all atheists “follow”. We do not believe the universe created itself. We do not believe it appeared out of nothing. We do not believe anything at all about how the universe began. We can throw ideas around and speculate, but not believe.
Neither you nor I know how the universe began. The difference is, you jump to the conclusion that God did it, and I wait and look for more evidence.

We don't yet fully understand what created the big bang. You're talking about something that happened 45 billion years ago, and we've only had computers for about 70 years. But there are people working on that question as I type this.

However your argument of god being the creator contradicts itself in the sense that god must have come from somewhere and if that's the case something must have created god. And for a creator to be, there must be matter to create the creator. Its an endless loop that contradicts both sides.

You confuse atheism and the beliefs of science. Atheism is simply not believing in a God and has nothing to do with science. If you don't understand this then you need to go back to school (avoid the church schools so you can learn the truth about science).

I am sorry to say but nothing you have mentioned that you think is part of atheism is actually part of atheism. The entire "belief system" of atheism is the answer to the question - "Do you believe there is sufficient evidence to prove the existence of any god or god claims." If you answer yes you are a theist if you answer no, you are an atheist. It is not logical to say either position contradicts itself.
Atheism is not the belief in evolution, Atheism is the lack of belief in a deity, nothing more, evolution states that over 4.5 billion years, species evolved slowly, based on their location, to better suit the enviroment they inhabit. Creation is a concept that is a mental construct bound by human conception. Nothing is ever created or destroyed. Merely transformed from one state to another, and this process is continuous.... not eternal, that's different. 'Eternity' is also a construct formulated due to our own subjective, 'snap-shot' experience of time. Consider it objectively and your argument is meaningless.

Everything that happened with Jesus and the apostles is written in other history books of their time besides the Bible. The first problem with this whole argument is right in the title of this video. Start with the definition of atheism: “One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods.” That is all. The closest I have come to proving god exists to myself is by contemplating how ones DNA is a mini supercomputer capable of holding all the blueprints for a particular organismic. Then also wonder how DNA, which is present in even the simplest single celled organism, started the evolution train. Then add to that the data in the DNA which is like a language of life. These complex life equations occurring without an author is as improbable as this pondering proving god exists.

The thing is life started one of two ways naturally or supernaturally. The actual mathematical probability of life occurring naturally is quite disappointing, worse than any lottery. How low does the probability for an event have to go before its occurrence is considered miraculous? 0:P

@SelfPromoting The closest I have come to proving god exists to myself is by contemplating how ones DNA is a mini supercomputer capable of holding all the blueprints for a particular organismic. Then also wonder how DNA, which is present in even the simplest single celled organism, started the evolution train. Then add to that the data in the DNA which is like a language of life. These complex life equations occurring without an author is as improbable as this pondering proving god exists.

@SelfPromoting Atheism the idea, does not exist in reality the way you and I do. It is represented or symbolized as the adversary to any theistic idea. I am in fact kinda religious or spiritual, dont ask for further clarification please. I do like the idea of atheism though, because with it I can take a vacation from god just like it appears as though god has done from this planet.

@SelfPromoting You didn't get the point. Atheism is nothing more than a word, which means> "lack of belief in theos". If you refer to an atheist, you refer to a person, who lacks the belief in a god. This fact does suerly not state anything else about their other beliefs. Of course you can say that most atheist have more in common than just the Atheism (such as accepting the Evolution theory), however this is not implied by "atheism". There are many atheists that do not accept the evolution t.

You confuse atheism and the beliefs of science. Atheism is simply not believing in a God and has nothing to do with science. If you don't understand this then you need to go back to school (avoid the church schools so you can learn the truth about science).

Atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist. It is not a system of beliefs. It does not Contradict It's Self!. An atheist, however, can say or even believe things that might contradict. Again, atheism is only the result of requiring proof of something that is conceivably unprovable.

The first 2 being the matter and energy we observe
the second 2 being gravity, which has negative energy.
Therefore "nothing" can create "nothing" because 0 = 0

I am sorry to say but nothing you have mentioned that you think is part of atheism is actually part of atheism. The entire "belief system" of atheism is the answer to the question - "Do you believe there is sufficient evidence to prove the existence of any god or god claims." If you answer yes you are a theist if you answer no, you are an atheist. It is not logical to say either position contradicts itself.

Atheism is not the belief in evolution, Atheism is the lack of belief in a deity, nothing more, evolution states that over 4.5 billion years, species evolved slowly, based on their location, to better suit the enviroment they inhabit. It doesnt say a dog gave birth to a cat. it says a Lion gave birth to a lion that was infantesimally more like a leopard than the Lion that gave birth to it. besides, Athiesm and evolution are by no means connected.

Creation is a concept that is a mental construct bound by human conception. Nothing is ever created or destroyed. Merely transformed from one state to another, and this process is continuous.... not eternal, that's different. 'Eternity' is also a construct formulated due to our own subjective, 'snap-shot' experience of time. Consider it objectively and your argument is meaningless.
So try being a little less cocky next time.

Although I'm a secular humanist, I tend to respect other people's religious beliefs. I'm not the militant anti-theist type in any sense. THE UNIVERSE NEVER CREATED ITSELF BECAUSE IT HAS ALWAYS EXISTED. THERE IS NO COHERENT NOTION OF "BEFORE THE BEGINNING". THE REASON ATHEIST CAN SAY THAT THE UNIVERSE IS ETERNAL AND THAT GOD COULDN'T BE ETERNAL IS BECAUSE WE CAN OBSERVE THE PHYSICAL UNIVERSE. Christians believe in Thor, the magical invisible teapot that eats cookies and all non believers need to be raped, slaughtered, then eaten. I don't understand why they would believe in that, do you?

The God of the Bible has pretty much disproven himslef, but if there was discovered some really strong evidence about a god, that would make it the best theory out, I wouldn't have any problem at all in believing in that god. But it isn't the best theory out. And the video is dumb. How does the idea that god doesn't exist contradict itself? That's what atheism is, nothing else. Not believing in a god.

Not believing in a god" ... yes but the implications are that the universe (matter space time) created itself, or has existed forever. Both these idea is illogical, but atheists are forced to accept this as what they believe in re the beginning of matter space and time.

And atheist aren't forced to believe in anything, and if you want know something about the big bang, read Stephen Hawking's The Grand Design. It's not just that nothing created nothing.

@heinno777 Well have you ever read the Bible? The Bible says that earth is 6000 years old, earth is the center of the universe, bats are birds... and so on. If you want to know more about the big bang theory, do some research. And I read that Einstein was a free thinker, not a christian, at first he was a jew. Einstein and many other scientists believe in a god or a higher being, but not in a religion, Hawking jusr recently said the big bang is possible w/o a god.

Do you agree that gays should be killed, or if a son is rebelious he should be stoned? Leviticus 11:13-19, check that out. That is a pretty lame example, there are a lot better. Check out what cosmic microwave background radiation is. Don't bother replying, I can't explain stuff about the big bang well.
