Not the greatest sound quality in this video, but I love the song. I disagree that the Abominog version sucks. It's different, but it's still good! That was the first one I heard.
The best Sloman did for heep. This version was releast as a singel, Later rerecorded fr the Abininog album. Then with Peter Goalby on vocals but that is apoor version

@MrTomek997 Peter Goalby had a very strong voice...probably the strongest of any Uriah Heep singer but I wish he sounded LESS like Lou Graham though. Bernie Shaw has a cool style but is very "pitchy" and often out of key. David Byron rules!!!
Great song - much better than anything they did with Pete Goalby. Sloman is not my favourite vocalist, but at least here (and in a few tracks from Conquest album) he works brilliantly.

Heep is dead. Uriah Heep died back in 1976 with David Byron, and maybe about two good albums with john lawton.... but lets face reality, nothing will compare to original Uraih Heep... Heep were an awesome band....
Sloman and Goalby were both damn good. I love Conquest album, and i love the Peter Goalby Era. Uriah Heep with Heavy-Metal vocalist Bernie Shaw = Shit. Uriah Heep Died(for me) in the year 1985. Bernie Shaw ruined everything, like Z. Wylde did to Ozzy Osbourne. Thank you and have a nice day.
I hate the Conquest album. It's Heep's second worst after Different World. But John Sloman deserves credit for his vocals and stage performance. This version of Think it over is much better than the one on Abominog, even though the Sloman period was their worst.
this is the best song by sloman- this version appeard on a single and later rerecorded for the aboninog. this version also appears on Uriah Heep´s rarites
Why Peter Goalby Replaced this John Sloman guy is beyond me, here we see John Sloman essentially doing what Ken Hensley should have done all along. Fronting the band on lead vocal and making you shit yourself with smokin leads.
Yeah, that's Gregg Dechert on keys. He and Sloman were in a band called PULSAR in Canada in '79. When Hensley pitched a fit in late '80 and Heep needed a keyboard player John suggested his buddy Gregg. In fact, 'No Return', 'Won't Have To Wait Too Long' , and 'My Joanna Needs Tuning' ('Think It Over' b-side) are all songs Sloman and Dechert wrote with PULSAR. 'My Joanna Needs Tuning' is the only Heep studio recording with Dechert on keys.
John Sloman, Mick Box, Gregg Dechert, Trevor Bolder, Chris Slade is in this line of the song.
John Sloman is much better singer than Peter Goalby. For me personally. This album (conquest) still has a Uriah Heep sound (spirit of UH), but abominog with peter goalby not.
was this song intended to be released on "conquest"? as far as i remember, hensley left during the "conquest" - tour , so this must have been in between that and "abominog"? i like the "conquest"-album, too!
I don't know if they already had the song written for 'Conquest' but they didn't record the 'Think It Over' 7" until Gregg Dechert was in the band. This was recorded ca. either late 80's or very early '81.
How the heck did Peter Goalby lose the previous audition to this guy?!! He is good, but he sounds like a better guitarist than singer. Goalby's voice BOOMS! But hey, all Heep rocks!
Uriah Heep rerecorder this song "Think it over" for their Abominog album with the two guys Kerslake and Daisley who became the first line-up of Ozzys first Solo-Band ...Kerslake also returned to Heep for Abominog and played with them till 2006 ... this year he retired from the Rock Music Business
Ok I understand your love for 80's Heep and 80's music.
But your nazi stuff makes me laugh. Only unintelligent person can believe in all that nazi shit. :D I can't understand how can you hate people, because they have different skin color. Ah well...whatever works for you, dude. :D Cheers
This period of Heep and especially the work SLOMAN delivered ist still extremely underrated. It is indeed one of the best Heep LP´s ever. I´m really doubting if there has beeen a better one since then...?! Maybe it´s been just to "Progressive2 for some Hardrock blockheads?!

No, you're wrong, it's Gregg Dechert on keyboards, a short lived line-up that lasted from summer 1980 to spring 1981 after Ken Hensley had left the group. They only released this single in early 1981 and did some TV appearances and smaller concerts in Britain. In April 1981 all members except for Mick Box of course left the group, and a new line-up was launched in late 1981 feat. John Sinclair on keyboards.
Looking back, now that thousands of Heep albums followed this - oh so bad album- everyone has to say, that it´s much better than it has been considered these times. For me it´s even in the top ten , with a very special charme and a great singer!
Sloman was a great singer, too bad he didn't linger. Pete Goalby then did an excellent job singing. When Hensley left, Uriah Heep made two of its best albums ever: Abominog and Head First. Hensley had stopped writing good music for years by then. 1982 was a turnaround towards AOR, but Uriah Heep became an even better band with John Sinclair (keys), Goalby (V), Bob Daisley (bass), Lee Kerslake (drums) and Mick Box ripping it!
John Sloman did a great job in Conquest, I really like this album and this song should've been part of the album, not only a single. Nice video, my first time seeing Sloman moving on a creen.
Sloman did have the looks of a rock Singer for sure and if you listen enough to the Conquest Album, you could like it. He did some tricks with the voice that the previous singers didn't do but wasn't it as well Hensley that wanted to follow a more commercial path with Heep and thus wanted something different? So it's normal that every album is not like the previous ones. "Out on the streets" and "Feelings" are gr8t tunes on the conquest album.
They should have changed their name after Hensley left. Ken Hensley was Uriah Heep. He always had the magic touch that made the Heep sound so special!
I don't think that Sloman is that bad and I do agree with you that Heep wasn't the same without Hensley, I totally agree with you that Hensley was the brains and the wizard of Uriah Heep and his songwriting is the reason why I love Uriah Heep.
Ken Hensley was a pussy that became a Christian rock musician or something like that. Plus during his Heep years he was always writing those pretentious ballads while the other members were wanting to rock out. You could tell that Hensley had more in common with Dennis DeYoung or the members of Kansas than with anything resembling heavy metal. When he left Uriah Heep, it was good riddance.
hey Heepfan ...what a find !! Pete Goalby adds alot to the song on the Abominog album ,but Sloman ,who wrote this with Trevor Bolder ,does a cracking version.Great stuff!!
I was very skeptical of hearing John Sloman singing for Uriah Heep and I was surprised how good this song was, while John Sloman isn't no John Lawton or David Byron I actually think he's a good singer, it's a shame that Ken Hensley didn't get along well with John Sloman.
Great video ... wish Heep would have cut more with Sloman past Hensley ... and wished I would have seen Heep with Sloman live ... great guitar Riffs and very explosive bass work from Bolder in these years ....
Not the greatest sound quality in this video, but I love the song. I disagree that the Abominog version sucks. It's different, but it's still good! That was the first one I heard.

I don't think that Sloman is that bad and I do agree with you that Heep wasn't the same without Hensley, I totally agree with you that Hensley was the brains and the wizard of Uriah Heep and his songwriting is the reason why I love Uriah Heep.

Ah... I dont realy like Sloman ...
Byron and Lawton were better...
It is a shame that Hensley left becouse of Sloman,
Hensley was the real wizard of Uriah Heep :D They were never the same without him... Demons and wizards will always be their best album!

Conquest is one of my favorite albuns from Uriah Heep. John Sloman was an excellent vocalist, pity they did not work together for long.

Agreed. All great songs on it. Actually Peter Goalby sang this on Abonimog.

Yup, this version was released as a single and is on the remastered and expanded version of Conquest :-).
