What a godforsaken disgusting American-styled lie. If you listen carefully to what the guy says: Celebration is about 10 years old, this comunity hear. A minute later hes telling you that that restaurant was established in 1905. This is total bullshit, Celebration is a town with all made-up history. The only reason to live there is if you too big of a chicken to deal with the real world. Blegh, I feel sick after watching this.
@Stenniewj So you perceive it as "fake" and "a lie" because it has pretty architecture? That doesn't make much sense. It's a real place populated by real people.
As for Columbia, the family's original restaurant was opened in Ybor City, Tampa, in 1905. The one in Celebration is one of a handful of other locations the family has in Florida.
Get some perspective. There are many legitimate things in the world to be creeped out and disgusted by. A nice neighborhood is not one of them.
@GirlMeetsWorldcom You might need to do so more research on Celebration miss. Disney was faced with trials cause of the made-up history of Celebration, and Disney LOST them. Its not just me being pessismistic about something, its actually proven in court that the this fake society is more fake than Micky Mouse. Im not a Disney hater or some sort, grew up with disney, like most of us did. But this is just wrong in so many ways. It's reflective for the 'simple' view americans have on life.
@GirlMeetsWorldcom pretty architecture? It looks pretty ticky tacky too me, Columbia doesn't have much curb appeal at all, sort of like an Olive Garden
two words to describe this place: Hakuna Matata! I wish I lived there. 6 miles from Disney but being in the middle of the magic right there...heaven the way I see it! (But that's cause I am a HUGE Disney fan!!)
My family and I have visited this quiet place many times and think it's rubbish!..( that's because we don't want it too touristy!)...to be honest it's one of lives loves, miss it, miss out.
I'm not sure! When the video was filmed, the phone box was right outside Sherlock's, a British teahouse. It's now Shannon's, an Irish pub with great food.
Not sure what you heard, but I live here, and it has a great feel. I can hear the fireworks every night from inside my house...many Disney offices are still here...my next-door neighbor is an Imagineer. In a couple of weeks is the semi-annual Disney Liquidation Sale that benefits the nighborhood school. It feels pretty "Disney" to me!
Yes I agree. It is very "Disney" and a great place to live. I lived there from 8th grade through my second year in college. I worked at the Tavern for 5 years. It is a great place to be and you never fully appreciate just how great it is until you are not there (or have never lived there as so many people seem to like to knock it before they have even tried it)
The fakeness of it all...it creeps me out, big time.

I really miss Celebration. We moved in July 1, 1996 -- the day downtown opened. There were less that 100 people ther then. Now there are over 10,000

3 things you need in Celebration.
1 - A shit load of money to live there.
2 - A shit load of money for food.
3 - A shit load of patience because their roads are retarded, police everywhere, etc.
Just sayin

If only Disney didn't sell this off to another development company. I heard that it really doesn't have that 'Disney' feel anymore.
