  • Last summer,I took my wife and son to see tower of power. The opening act was david Sanborn, joey Defrancesco on organ and the master steve Gadd on drums.everything was going great until Steve broke for a solo.Midway through his solo, the sky got black as coal!he finished, they got off stage, and all hell broke loose!Category 4 monsoon! It rained steady for 1/2 hour. Then Tower came on and killed it. the moral of this is:it happens to the big boys, too.keep rockin' and smilin'!jay from germany.

  • That was so funny, you have to laugh at things like this. My gig from hell was when the band i was in got booked to play three nights at Rampton top security mental institution. We were told it was for the staff at Christmas, but it was the inmates. they said we wouldn't have turned up if they told us the truth. To say it was interesting would be an understatement. all the best Mel

  • Hey amazongift (Mel) What a great story....too bad you didn't have a video of that---you'll have to share that experience with us some day...Thanks for you comment...Peace brother,

    Yvonne,Bob and Kazandra

  • The idea of a gig outside always sounds wonderful, but then you get there and start playing and reality kicks in. I know all about it. At least you got a good funny video.

  • Toonmunger----Yep, most musicians have had the same experience...I can tell you, I'll think twice about outdoors gigs again. Thank you for your comment -- you guys are really gettin' down over there...great video you did...fun.

  • Thank you riley501111, for stopping by and giving your comment. Yes, Mother nature just about did steal the show....pushed all the homecoming people under the pavilion and after the rain, they stayed....It ended up being a great time. Again, thank you.

  • Hey thats one of my favourite songs. Never Ending Love by Delaney and Bonnie ~ well done

  • Thank you nazz for the comment...it's one of our favorites too...just didn't get to finish it--(smile) Bonnie is from our area of the country, so kinda grew up with here...again, thanks.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Oh yes and that was one heck of a flash storm during the song. I can't think of anything quite as bad we had. Except maybe for a very very Martinborough Wine Festival where the wind blew over one of the speakers which look nit unlike yours. Never Ending Love was also a great song to play at parties. Everyone new the words. Well done & thank you to Delaney. Bonnie and their Friends.

  • had to watch again and loved the credits John the porta potty patron!!!!! I notice him going in when I was watching this and wondered if he knew he was going to be on you tube using the bathroom. tears down my face. thank you thank you thank you. lol

  • Yah know, I never thought about that!! Oh too funny. I'm going to make sure he knows...(we live in a community of 500 population.) and although I don't know him, someone does....This is great....thanks for pointing that out....

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Oh I love this video! lol Your right things happen for a reason and I believe this happen so you could put it on here for people to have a laugh. Yvonne and Bob

  • I loved it, Yvonne!!! Not that I'd wish another incident like this to occur while you're performing, but that you posted this for us. That tells me you guys are down to earth. I guess you'll be looking over your shoulder from now on, huh? LOL!

  • Hey Chuck....we're so down to earth, that we're half way to China...(smiling) Yah, I'm kind of superstitious about things like that...the first thing I thought was, "What's God trying to tell me.?" LOL Thanks for your comments Chuck.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Well... "the show must go on" and all that. Fun video. Love it!

  • Thank you Mr. Guitar extraordinaire...we appreciate your comments.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Well thank goodness YOU didn't blow away!

What a wacky thing to have happen!

    :-) Elaine

  • Thanks Elaine....you're the best!!

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Nothing like torrential rain while plugged in and strapped around your neck...LOL

    Thanks for sharing

    Mark

  • Funny....thank you Mark

    Yvonne and Bob

  • And it was sounding so good too. At least you made it there. My first "gig" I ended up spending on the side of highway 44 between springfield and St Louis on a 3 foot wide shoulder next to a 20ft deep ditch with my entire drumkit strung out in a line behind my brother's pinto so we could get to the spare tire. It was raining that night too. As much as it sucked I always smile when I think of it now.

  • Oh my God, I would have panicked if we had broken down...course we only had two blocks to go, so we could have hoofed it...(smile) I know what you're saying....you don't realize at the time, that you're making memories huh? It's a good thing remembering, if it makes you smile. Thanks for you comments Ryan...we appreciate it.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Des sent me a message about your channel. Glad I came over to check it out.

You chose one of my all-time favourite songs for your first gig. Great job youse did on the song.

(Sorry about the bad weather, tho.)

    MisterCanning

  • Hey Mister Canning...I'm glad Des(Mr. Cowboy Boots) sent you here, because we got a chance to hear the Loretta Lynn and George Jones version of this song....never heard it before--I only remember the Bonnie and Delany version....Bonnie was from up north of here. Thank you for sharing....Thank you for your comments...you're very kind.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Gigging could only get better from here! Thank God you didn't quit. My first gig was horrible too, but yours was definitely more entertaining! Good that you can look back and laugh. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

Thanks for sharing, Yvonne. Tell Bob he's a good catch! ;) ~Raven

  • Thank you BluesMama for your comment...If that's the case....then I should be either dead or very strong....(smile)

I told him....wanna know what I used for bait? LOL

    Yvonne

  • Sure, I'll take all the advice I can get! But I actually meant it as a double entendre, both that he would try to make everything perfect for you, and also that the caught your music as it was trying to blow away!

  • That's funny...I took it one way, you meant another---either way, you're cool. Have a great week end...laughing...you made me smile!

    Yvonne

  • And your still standing!!!

  • (laughing) No, but I sure put the stool to good use that day....you're funny!

    Yvonne and Bob

  • LOL I guess you could call that a "whirlwind" debut!! :-)

    Holy smokes thats windy!!!

    *****

  • Now that's a good one..."whirlwind debut" ...Windy here means tornado and What the audience didn't see, was the ballpark across the street going up into a tunnel...(Smile)Thank you canajian for your comment.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! I can't stop laughing!

OK OK OK, now Bob and Yvonne was this a Union gig or are you scabs! LOL! hahahahah! the reason I ask is that might not be God it could have been the teamsters! LOL! I just loved this . you'll never work in this town again! LOL! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, gary

  • Oh my God, you lit Bob's eyes up when he heard the word "Scab." (He was in the other room) ... and he just heard that word(laughing)and went into "The Mode." I said, "Stand down," it's a YouTube comment---too funny!! "..could have been the Teamsters"....you're hilarious Gary, besides being a great song writer/singer.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • that was great lol !!!! any one that gigs enough goes through this sometime, but you had a camera and caught it on film!!!! great stuff and keep it up!!!

  • Thanks Jeff, boy that makes me want to keep gigging...you mean this can happen again? (smile) Thanks for your comments.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • That's great, no boring arranged stuff!

  • Hey Mr. Songwriter/singer...In my case, everything is arranged...Bob did that to me on purpose...it's his fault. (smile) Thanks for the comment.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Sounds fine to me the Heavens were just jealous !!

  • Thanks Robin..I guess there's something to say about, recording film for YouTube, instead of braving the elements....You're a gem.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Hey Guys,

The Wind, The Rain, The Lightning, The Thunder

SO SORRY 'the "SUN" couldn't make it.

I'll have a word with Almighty tonight.

    Smiling SUN

  • Funny Des, Mr. Cowboy boots---thanks for putting a word in for us with the Almighty--we'd appreciate it....(smile)

    Yvonne and Bob

  • An uncomplicated performance gives you a momentary pleasure and pride, but the ones where everything is just totally out of your hands, well you get to tell that story FOREVER :)

This was great, thanks for sharing!

  • You are so right....Well aren't the philosophical one...Thanks for your comment..we appreciate it.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • lol, you should have beeter played "blowin in the wind"

  • Oh, that's another good one...that would have been a riot, playing "Blowing and the Wind," and we knew that song....See, You'll do well doing your gigs with Anja....because you have a quick wit. Thanks for the comment my friend from Germany.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • wow! nature loves it..is there a typhoon?

  • Nope, just an old-fashioned, dirt tornado, with wind, rain, lightening and thunder...no fun!! Thanks for your comment.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • I wish that I had footage of every time I got stuck in this kind of situation. I play in the Keys and along the South Carolina Coast, and thing can to from bad to "Hell" in a matter of seconds. I carry tarps to every gig I do- Yes, even inside gigs...lol...

    Keep on picking!

    singeroflove

    David Hope

  • Hey Mr. Song writer/singer, I'll bet you do get unpredictable weather down there....we immediately went out and bought a tent and used it two weeks later...but it didn't stop the bees. (smile) Thanks for your comments...you're funny..tarps for inside gigs...

    Yvonne and Bob

  • pretty funny stuff, glad to see you can laugh about it now... must have been a little scary at first tho. You should have broke out with Who'll Stop the Rain.

  • Oh funny!! You know, I just got what your YouTube names mean...duh. But you know, that "Who'll Stop The Rain," would have been hilarious.....only we didn't do that one then, but I'm prepared this time....Thank you

    Yvonne and Bob

  • that was insane, where was that, like the state fair or something, did the next gig go a little smoother,or did you retire right there on the spot?

  • It was a Homecoming--and no the next gig did not go smoothly either---two weeks later was a street dance...there were Harley's dragging up the street, Hot and humid, bees landing on my microphone, fire crackers and a crowd of kids that wanted to fight....but we go on!!! (smile) Thanks for the comment!!

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Wow....One of the reasons I hate playing outside venues....I once play for the trail rides over here....They kept paying us to play more and more....After 6 hours of playing...we pretty much ran out of songs to do...we started repeated songs...anyway...the worst part about it is, I was couching out so much dirt at the end.....and they still wanted us to play some more....The show must go on

  • Yah, it's no fun singing with dirt in your mouth, but you could sing and play the guitar standing on your head....cause you rock!!! Thanks for your comment.

    Yvonne and Bob

  • Had to get out of hubby's account and fave this one Yvonne!...5 more stars!...((hugs))...Barbi

  • Aww...that's so sweet Barbi....Hugs back at cha!!!

    Yvonne and Bob

  • must have been annoying and frustrating but very funny to watch sorry :)

  • Well, that just shows you're cool enough to let others laugh at your expense...and trust me...I was laughing.

Do you guys perform a lot? I'm too chicken to even go on stage.

  • Believe me, you have nothing to worry about, when it comes to going on stage...you have a beautiful voice and you play well...You think you are a chicken....it took decades to get me on stage and I'm glad I did, because it's about the audience and shining the light on them....You have heart and they will see it. Thanks for the comment kiddo.

I read The Rolling Stones used to say "No snow, no show", but I am not sure they were talking about weather phenomena... !

Best wishes to you both. Phil

  • You made us laugh too...Yah, that flash actually appeared twice...."No snow, no show."--- I'm confused (smile) Thanks Mr. Slick on the guitar.
