Just to replace INCOME tax alone -- a national sales tax would have to be 49% . To replace all other taxes, it would have to be 90% -- because we spend so much.
And a 90% sales tax would destroy sales. The 23% fantasy is true only if they can collect 1.5 trillion from itself, and count that as income. That's monopoly money.
Fairtax is not a serious plan. Google Fairtax absurdity.
Math matters -- and Fairtax math is just silly. For example, not only do they pretend the government will pay itself over 1.5 trillion -- and count that as income --- they say in the end, prices will not change.
So no matter how high their taxes are -- "its a wash" says Boortz, cause prices drop that much. Put the highest sales tax on earth -- on rent, on new homes, on everything, it won't matter. Prices will stay the same.

No, this is the part I ask if you ever saw the Fairtax -- DARE TO COMPARE calculator. The one they worked on for a couple years before introducing.
It was going to show "working Americans" how much better off they would be with the Magic Pony That Shits Gold (The Fairtax).

Fairtax doesn't mention saving money from no IRS -- because it would need a massive bureaucracy. .
. But the real problem with FT - it's literally a farce. They aren't even trying to pass it. So don't worry about the bureaucracy to run it.
But if you googled Fairtax + absurdity, and read a link or two -- particularly the study -- you would see issues like that addressed.

however it's still just theory at that point... so even if a plan that does look good on paper is brought up it's hard to say it will work without some way of testing it.

Either every town, city, village, county and state, can pay the federal government 30% sales tax -- and not have to pass along the cost - or not.

There is a way to prove that the government can't pay itself 1.5 trillion in taxes, and count that as income.
Try it yourself at home. Pay yourself 10,000 dollars a day to cut your own grass. Deposit the check.
Do that every day for 30 days. At the end of the month, see if you have 300,000 dollars.
Fairtax knows this -- that's why they hid the sentence "The federal government will become a MAJOR taxpayer" on page 148, and hoped you didn't notice.

No -- they are not collecting the same amount of taxes as before-- not at 23%.
Just to replace INCOME tax alone -- a national sales tax would have to be 49% . To replace all other taxes, it would have to be 90% -- because we spend so much.
And a 90% sales tax would destroy sales. The 23% fantasy is true only if they can collect 1.5 trillion from itself, and count that as income. That's monopoly money.
Fairtax is not a serious plan. Google Fairtax absurdity.

So no matter how high their taxes are -- "its a wash" says Boortz, cause prices drop that much. Put the highest sales tax on earth -- on rent, on new homes, on everything, it won't matter. Prices will stay the same.

not to mention like i said, the illigals that would then be paying taxes that never would before... think of how many people are in texas and california alone that don't pay taxes in and yet cost the goverment money... at least with this we'd get some of it back.
but either way you look at it you cannot truely prove or disprove the system... you won't honestly know unless it goes through... but people hate change so it won't.
