  • Karajan.

  • Otima

  • Now I know why Wagner called it the apotheosis of the dance

  • This is the most extraordinarily powerful performance of Beethoven's most cosmically charged symphony. von Karajan drives the orchestra like a madman, lashing the musicians to within an inch of their lives as the music blazes like a burning chariot across the sky. Fucking brilliant.

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • Karajan and Berlin Philharmonic: the best ever!!! Thanks for posting!

  • Come casseruola è disposta l'orchestra? o.O

  • @Dogaradodia For the "Seventh," I don't know of a finer performance. These videos (was there a complete B'ven symphony cycle?) were done with telecast in mind. The staging (banks of black risers for the orchestra) was done with major input from v. Karajan, who was an excellent "stage director" as well. As with all of his B'ven recordings, despite the tape editing, the movement is recorded in one "take." It's nowhere near as bad as video-film today but still so choppy as to be irritating.

  • But notice eg: the INTERESTING phrasing and bowing in the Violins. Recapitulation begins at 3:24. The theme-phrase is taken on a strong downbow, but on the last quaver (3:28,) they take it as an UPBOW, in flawless unison! It's also odd that maestro has the Violas at his far Right; but makes for some good views of the section leader. The modulating interplay in the coda (5:20-5:48) is actually "ruled" by the Vln II line, but the Violas are almost as important. This shows Violas nicely!

  • @UlfenDaddy *I also really, Really love that metallic snap of the low E-natural (Unique to the viola C-string, D-natural --> F-natural only) at 5:34.

  • Thank you so much. You've made my day by me finding this.

  • Certificado 100% intergalactico
