i have a 91 cavalier myself. it has the 2.2L TBI, just a VL. great little car though. simple and cheap to work on. they are good little cars, i bought it for gas mileage. my other car is a 89 camaro RS with a 350 junk yard engine swap. bought the 350 for 300 and did a new cam, lifters, timing chain. its a quick car. i love my cavy, but i like the v8's for performance cars. not saying i dont respect the z24, i do i just like my v8

Yes. these cars do haul ass. you need to understand horse power and torque, the difference between them and what happends. Horse power keeps you going, torque gets you going. these cars weigh about 2700 lbs (not much) so 140 HP keeps it moving well. The have 185 ft-lbs of torque, which is an assload for a car of that weight. I am installing the 3400 SFI 5 Speed manual in the near future.
Have you thought of a supercharged 3.8..??....i think they had at minimum 220 hp all the way up to 280 in recent years not to mention really good torque.
