Except that ICP hardly has any values worth looking for. And their clown make-up gimmick is provocative at best, at worst horribly comical.

The Grateful Dead and their following were to a certain extent about a change in conciousness, in values, of expanding the mind and imagination through the use of psychedelics and so forth. The whole psychedelic "revolution" back then were a serious counter-culture, look up Terence McKenna for example (who passed away a couple o years ago).

Honestly, I don't want to push foreward if music is gonna take a turn for rap and scream-o. The point is that it's "good old roack and roll", and it'll stay that way as long as there are bands who uphold the guitars, the mics, and the drums. I hate when people say it's dead. Even if it were, they wouldn't want it in heaven, and it would take over hell, then come right back to us.

But I disagree if we are going to "push foreward" to rap and screaming. Some of it's hardly music, so much as guitar masturbation. I do enjoy some rap, but it just gets repetative after a while. I never get that with rock. I don't know. Maybe just my personal preference.

Don't get me wrong I like those kinds of bands but they're not real metal. Trivium is the only band like that that comes close. (I actually love Trivium.) Also, Blackstone Cherry is a band like Wolfmother, trying to keep real rock alive. Look up this band called Holdcell if you want. They're trying to do the same.

the guitar sound is fat enough to be compared to sabbath but the atmosphere isnt as dark..certainly like zeppelin but id like to throw in mountain and deep purple for further comparison. but yeah that fat gibson sound is not unlike what you'll hear on zeppelin four and physichal graffiti or master of reality for that matter.

Its great songs like this that seem to get the wrong comparisons. They tend to sound more like Blue Cheer then Black Sabbath. But I can tell that the new album is going to be epic. Oh and 6Bony9, there's no such thing as too much distortion! Besides if Blue Cheer can make insane riffs with nothing but distorted and fuzzed out guitars then so can Wolfmother!

Wow this is so much different than the self-titled album stuff. Personally I think it has too much distorted rhythm guitar. I loved how the older stuff had the long bluesy solos. With all of the distortion I don't think they can put out the same sound. I tend to like bands that have one guitarist because they can get in a lot more insane riffs not just a repetitive rhythm line and bits and pieces of riffs. This song is still awesome though. The drums are sick!
