  • Is this why Americans are called "Yanks"

  • @nb45001 Yes, like in the song, The Yanks are Coming. We went to Europe to make the Germans go back to Germany where they came from, and we didn't come back until we were through, over there. Maybe Over There is the name of the song.

  • hahaha

  • Im from europe but i support the Confederates!

  • @UnbekannterNrE1ns I support the National Socialist.

  • @UnbekannterNrE1ns so you support slavery and no freedom for anyone what so ever?

  • Ahhhh Americans able to turn torment, disgust, and slander and embrace it and say yah and youre not so go fuck u

  • 193 are sudist

  • I've heard the song without lyrics, but not with them.

  • @smartkidado This video song was without lyrics.

  • I'll be damned if I whistle yankee doodle anytime soon. Dixie will remain my whistling tune of choice.

  • @ChristusRexEst It is a free country. I will whistle both.

  • Sounds like shit. God save the King.

  • sux god save king george

  • sounds like a circus march, with clowns

  • Yankee Doodle Dandy

  • God Bless The UK and USA!

  • this soxg somehow makes me sad. I thixk cause it's old. or sum c:

  • @Bluerulescalifornia Sorry to hear about your personal problems. I hope you get better.

  • Pardon me, but how the HELL is this patriotic? It sounds like a childish nonsense song.

  • @phillyphanatic1830

The original song was actually adapted from a nursery rhyme by british officers to mock the americans, who then adopted it as their rallying cry in irony

  • @phillyphanatic1830 Because it is a child's song. The British sung it to mock the Americans, then when American soldiers heard British prisoners whistling it they adopted the tune because they liked it. For some reason Americans like to think it was patriotic just because they added another verse. It's still a British Army march.

  • southeners fought in the belief of communism and for everything to be controled by the goverment and the union fought to give everyone rights and look at where america is at today i am trully greatful of the union from saving this country from fucking commys

  • that flag needs a big white star in the middle of star circle Hail Enclave

  • if southeners hate doodle then they hate america and the american flag so im still questioning if they consider themselves americans since we americans are a bunch of yankees can anyone help me answer my question please?

  • @irobot428 When a country goes to war with itself, and when that war kills over 600,000 of its citizens (2% if its population; equivalent to 6 million Americans today), it takes time to heal. I know it has been a long time, but we can give it more time. The 600,000 were killed to save the Union and the idea that man can govern himself. Do not speak of all southerners as if they all feel the same way, because they don't. We should try to make things better, not create tensions.

  • @jbranstetter04 you mean 300,000 Citizens . There were 300,000 Terrorists who fell int he war of southern agression against Christ and union The south are scum of the earth they live to be enslaved for the Glory of Christ and the Union

  • @MrTThorne93 I stand corrected. It was about 360,000 who died to save the Union and "The last best hope, of man on earth".

  • @jbranstetter04 There we go

  • @jbranstetter04 fucking stupid ass thats the point they will never stop and they ALWAYS create tension smartone. till this day they still hate yankees(americans) and other cultures. if a bully went up to you and you said stop will they no! they will laugh at you and still keep on doing it!

  • Long Live liberty and freedom. Long live the USA! From Great Britain :)

  • fuck you british people we are fucking free

  • @TheJohn3262 no you not,not entirly because you would have to do what the goverments says in the US. so yourv'e not

  • Horray, time for my daily American propaganda.

  • damn yankes

  • This could be a racist song but it's too sticky

  • Freedom is badly understood these days...

  • @Zanator1 Agreed, anyone who thinks we are free today is a complete moron, the forces are at work and have got us right were they want us.

  • haha, the british created this song to mock you americans and here you are, priding eachother with an insult towards you, "doodle" is an old german term for "fool" or "simpleton"

    nice fail

  • @dividednation44 But were speaking english here now aren't we? And in English, Dandy is a man with great appearance or if something is great, and finally, it's not a fail if it was used to mock us but is actually not. We like that song.

  • @dividednation44 Actually, the tune comes from somewhere near modern day Germany, most likely Prussia. It was adapted as a march (and is still used by the British Army, usually for passing out parades). A surgeon then added words when he saw inept militia in a battle. The U.S. started using it when they heard prisoners whistling it and liked the tune.

  • funny ass song. c:

  • Finally!!!! I am a Dutchman and I always remebered this tune from my youth (when we watched cartoons imported from America). Now I finally know the name!!

  • This is a racist song.....(that's just a comment I read on the song Dixie)

  • Hehe crazy northerners and their drugs :)

  • @MonsterEnergy9010 So Texan how gggreatgrandfathers of yours fought for Texas during the Civil War? To be a real Texan you need to join the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Cause talk is cheap.

  • @jbranstetter04

Are you joking? You keep on saying that ther is no negative correlation between a corrupt government and a free people.

Just look at the many countries around thw world with corrupt governments: zimbabwe, DR of congo, honduras, libya, syria.

Now tell me that any of these countries have a 'free people'.

  • @jbrannstetter04

Are you joking? you keep on saying that there is no anticorrelation between a free people and a corrupt government, however look at some of the many the countries around the world with corrput governments: zimbabwe, congo, honduras, libya, syria. Now tell me that any of these countries have a free population!

  • @drearyjim I'm talking about my country, not Buttswana Africa (I have nothing against Africa, I want them to be free too). If my government can do its number one job of protecting my liberty and my right to pursue my happiness, then corruption in it does not limit my freedom. That is what I'm saying.

  • It's good to feel at home

  • hurra you a patriot and e soldier for freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! has you are the ass for the fireline!!!

  • cock sucker yankees

  • I this why American's are called Yanks?

  • @nb45001 y

  • @nb45001 um..I don't know but I am from New York and when I go to florida they call me yank. lol

  • @nb45001

In colonial America, the Dutch had a colony up in the New York area (which was surrounded by English colonies). Common Dutch names were Jan and Kees, which were combined and anglicized to the word Yankee. This term was often applied to English colonists who settled in Dutch areas and eventually became a derogatory term towards the American colonists by the British (at least, this is the mostly likely theory towards the origin). So yeah, pretty much.

  • I love that the British used this to mock us, but we played it full band as they surrendered at Yorktown! :D I love England, but they kind've deserved that (at the time).

  • what nation or person ever created that- i love it!

    greets from Germania :)

  • who ever came up with yankee doodle im gonna find them and kick in the mouth

  • Im guessing "yank" just used to be a slang for a american back then, ive been called a yank before by a british woman, i dont know if people still use it, or she just does...

  • now im a british person and i say very nice song im impressed may u live a very nice life america have a nice day bye.

  • @jchap146 Thank you for not being disrespectful like most of the other British I've seen on YouTube. Thanks for being kind.

  • @CampOnDuty no problem

  • Implying this song isn't british...

  • i really like this song ^^

  • Nice video and song!OLD AMERICA IS BEST!

  • gay yanks

  • @MrGerardnl Yes, we are very happy. Happy to be free!

  • @jbranstetter04 Amen!

  • @jbranstetter04

free? america is corrupt as shit! also , the confederacy fought for ther states to be FREE, old abe didnt care shit about slaves, he just wanted to make whole the states united, no more rights, i hope you see that america is going to shit.

  • @MrGerardnl You need an education. First, a free people can have a corrupt government, as there is no correlation between the two . Secondly, our union was a test to see if a people could rule themselves, and Abraham Lincoln was not about to let that experiment fail. To see our self ruled Republic break apart into factions was just what the tyrants of the world were waiting for. It was "common knowledge" that people could not rule themselves, that is until America proved otherwise.

  • @jbranstetter04 "a free people can have a corrupt government, as there is no correlation between the two" hm, but a corruption limits your freedom no?

  • @doczg88 It depends on the type of corruption, the extent of it, and then on how much of a lose of liberty we are talking about. If government officials give favor to certain groups in exchange for lucrative jobs when they get out of office, the the lose of liberty for me is that I have to work more hours to make up the tax lost by the "group" not paying its fair share of taxes, or that it actually received tax money. There is still no direct quantifiable correlation between the two.

  • @jbranstetter04 Living in highly corrupt state I have to dissagre ;) It's easy to discuss when you don't have real life experience.

  • @doczg88 Tell me the freedom you have lost living in your state?

  • @jbranstetter04 You cannot call yourself 'free' when THE NATIONAL DEFENCE AUTHORISATION ACT will be passed soon, and SOPA. So please read up on your shit and stop pledging allegiance to the myth that is a 'free america'

  • @Atezish I had better get my stuff done soon, before it is too late! How soon until I'm put in a prison because of this act? Will they take all of my family or just some of us? Will it be a regular prison, or a slave prison? Maybe a reeducation camp! Head for the hills everyone! Grab you guns, ammo, gold, and food! (By the way, I have all four plus more).

  • @MrGerardnl well go to china a place where they kill babies who are girls just because there are a lot of girls there

  • @MrGerardnl you got that fucking right

  • @jbranstetter04 I like how you have both top comments and they're are both witty remarks to what some douchebags said. USA all the way.

  • @MrGerardnl

    umad

  • @MrGerardnl

i come from nazi europe you asshole :D

  • @uthar1986

? i also come from the shitty europe?

  • @MrGerardnl hey i am american

  • @fibdur Would you people cut all the "go say that in Cuba crap already" Half the nations in the world have the same freedom as the U.S. has and can voice their own anti flag beliefs. Get out of your only in America cocoon.

  • When was this written?

  • @Xz1kNuCkLeZz1zX 1768, by a British Officer.

  • The South will rise again.

  • lol this is catchy

  • Who's that person at 00:24?

  • @Darko2625 Just an average Yankee Doodle guy. He's a dandy! And handy with the girls.

  • @jbranstetter04 HAHAHA!

  • yankees were originaly british.

  • @kshhashim Not all were originally British. Crispus Attucks was one of the five men killed in the Boston Massacre, the first one shot in fact. He was buried with the other Patriots killed that day by the Red Coats. He was a black man with no British ancestry. I've read that at least 5000 blacks fought on the side of the Patriots in the American Revolution, and I would guess that not many of them were of British ancestry.

  • @jbranstetter04 i dont know, may be those black people were forced to fight cos they were slaves,

  • @kshhashim They were free men. Maybe that is what a lot of people don't know as well, that there were a lot of free blacks in America at the time of the Revolution.

  • @jbranstetter04 Most free blacks were soldiers. The British Army offered them freedom if they served as line infrantry for four years or more, some joined the Revolution because their masters did or they were offered the same sort of thing. Also, most Yanks are British, a Yank is originally someone from New England (clue is in the name as to where the colonials came from). "Yank" became a general term in the Rev. War; the Revolutionaries were mostly Brits and so got a new name.

  • Charlie Bartlett!!!!

  • When I started reading English in 3rd grade, we sang this occasionally :)

  • My toilet paper has the American flag printed on it.

  • @duncan7599 "My toilet paper has the American flag printed on it."

I hope you get ink poisoning.

  • @duncan7599 STFU

  • @duncan7599 Your really rude you know :I

I'm from america and i don't appreciate having the American flag on ur "toilet paper" even though ur joking about because god will sin u for "wiping our nation" on ur sorry ass.

And all u people thumbing up this comment, go jump off the statue of Liberty.. it would be happy to witness that -.-

  • @duncan7599 Fuck you. You're from the United States, you prick. If you don't like it here, shut your fucking mouth and leave. We don't need to sit here and read your bullshit. You obviously take for granted all the great things about the United States. If you don't want to be free, go to Cuba. Otherwise shut up and go fuck yourself.

  • @duncan7599 I WISH YOU THE PAPER YOU USED?HAVE A PIECES OF GLASS!!

  • @duncan7599 Holy shit, I think your profile gave me cancer.

  • Anti americanism is a form of envy, people who feel inferior have an unnatural need to speak badly of those who exceed. Also, those who do evil need to demonize good, in order to feel better,Communists killed 200 million worldwide,so they always had to demonize americas in order to feel better.

  • @guilhermefreire48 You ego driven delusional yanks demonise your selves....mai ley, native indian genocide, vietnam in wich you got your ass handed back to you, hiroshima, and lets not forget the past and current past time of bombing brown people....of course yanks dont go to war with iran or china or russia cause they are too big for you.....insane americans

  • @guilhermefreire48 It's a waste of time mate, You can't explain anything to these people. They have gotten themselves in such a fad of bashing America that they find the most inane topics they can find to hurl at us. If they truly desire something to cry about they should look at their own country s "spotless" history.

  • Any country that is able to slaughter 500 innocent woman and children, post WWII, and spin it into a postive light is truly the scum of the earth.. Yeah Im talking to you americans. Im sorry, there is a good reason why most parts of the world hate yanks.

  • OOOO i live in oxford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt know this song had a reference to it. pretty rare

  • Is he calling the horse or the feather "macaroni"?

  • @Mcgareydude The hat. In the 18th century the rich in Great Britain often wore a "Macaroni", a type of hat. The song is saying that the rebels wore essentially a peasants outfit and liked to call it a Macaroni.

  • Stupid Americans took a song insulting them and changed the lyrics and called it their own!

  • @GrrrIamMad yeah so stupid! european so better country cauz not america yea! *sarcasm*

  • @rw1993n64 You just called Europe a country... Fail.

  • @GrrrIamMad Don't you have anything better to do?

  • @GrrrIamMad No, i assumed you were a self-loathing hipster american. Even worse, you're just another elitist euro-douche who likes to derail America for it's cultural flaws while ignoring the flaws found throughout the entirety of your precious continent. America's culture is really shitty, but at least we aren't pseudo-intellectual, smug, socialist douchebags like many of you cool kids up there in europe.

  • @rw1993n64 Europe is Socialist because the government actually does stuff to help it's people?

  • @GrrrIamMad Europe is Socialist because the government actually does stuff to control it's people.

  • @GrrrIamMad I support freedom. America is the only country that still mildly cares about freedom.

  • @doctorseaweed2 Stop believing in all that American bullshit. You guys think that not being able to carry shotguns and machineguns around means you are slaves. Europe is actually much more free than you are, and with a much higher standard of living.

You Americans think that if the government spends taxpayer's money on the people than they are Communist. Screw that, I'd rather not go broke for getting sick.

  • @GrrrIamMad "He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security." Benjamin Franklin

  • @GrrrIamMad "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." George Washington

  • @guilhermefreire48 Cheap/Free healthcare means you aren't free?

  • @GrrrIamMad "Any society that would sacrifice a little freedom, to gain a little security, deserves neither, and will lose both."

  • @doctorseaweed2 Oh no I'm not allowed to carry around guns and shoot someone who steps on my lawn! I must be a slave!

  • @GrrrIamMad Maybe not a slave, but a subject of your government for sure. Think man. Use your brain for something other than to please your government with. That you do not understand: "When ordinary hands can possess such an extraordinary instrument, that symbolizes the full measure of human dignity and liberty." I understand. It is not necessarily your fault.

  • @jbranstetter04 I live my life not even thinking about my government. I do not need to worry about starving or dying of disease. My tax money covers all that. Not a single worry in my life.

I vote for my government here in Canada. We have a different voting system than you, dozens of parties and even with a majority of the political seats a party does not have absolute power. Your president can do whatever the hell he wants as long as he gets over 50%.

  • @GrrrIamMad For sure we do have a different form of government. I do not think that will be changing for us or you anytime soon. But I do find it interesting that you now have a very conservative government that is at this time repealing your long gun registration after it has been proven a money wasting failure.

When I lived at home with my mommy and daddy I too never feared starvation or being left out in the rain or cold. They provided for me and only asked for my obedience.

  • @GrrrIamMad Guns are allowed in America so we can overthrow the government if nessasary. The governments in western europe could start a holocaust and you could not defend yourselfs, we can.

  • @doctorseaweed2 We wouldn't need to, a government can't stop a revolution. What are they going to do? Gun down the entire population?

  • @doctorseaweed2 What are you smoking? Your country allows guns becuase your screwed up society thinks that unless a man is allowed to kill people that piss him off, he is a slave.

Also, ever heard of The French Revolution? An absolute monarchy with 100% power overthrown even with most of the officers and soldier supporting the government.

  • @GrrrIamMad When did I or any of us say slave? And yes I have heard of the french revolution. They were inspired by America to start a revolution. Took 10 years of chaos and in the end they had another dictator.

And why do you think europe is a country?

  • @doctorseaweed2 Who cares is Napoleon was an Emporer? He was th greatest leader in the history of France!

When the hell did I call Europe a country?

  • @GrrrIamMad Then stop saying Europe is better constantly. Pick a country in europe to say which one is better then america, then we can talk.

And about Napoleon, france had a revolution to get demoracy. And ended up with a dictator. And Adold Hitler was a good leader, yet he was not nice..

  • @doctorseaweed2 It doesn't if matter what type of leader if they are if the people love them and they bring them glory.

  • @GrrrIamMad So you like Hitler?

  • @doctorseaweed2 Would there be something wrong if I do like Hitler?

  • @GrrrIamMad You just admited you like Adolf Hiter, wow. He was a good leader at first until he made many stupid mistakes that lost him the war. Not to mention the millions of Jews he tortured and killed..

  • @doctorseaweed2 I never said if I did or didn't. Read it again.

  • @GrrrIamMad Then say you hate Hitler like a normal human

  • @doctorseaweed2 Why should I? I never personally knew him, and I don't follow propganda and instantly assume he is evil. He wanted to unite Europe and make one happy nation, His way of doing it was evil, but his idea wasn't.

  • @GrrrIamMad You just became a moral accomplice of a genocidal sicko.Hitler is one of the biggest criminals in human history.Good intentions? One happy nation?HE KILLED MILLIONS!

  • @guilhermefreire48 Your nation slaughtered an entire race of people and forced the survivors on reserves. You killed over 100 million of them.

You say Hitler is evil? Take anybody like Joseph Stalin or Mao Zedong and think Hitler is the most evil. Hitler did have good intentions. If he succeeded, you could walk anywhere at night and be safe. There would be no racist or religious prejudice. You are saying that wouldn't be good?

  • @GrrrIamMad Unless your a native aboriginal of canada you dont have any room to talk.Under the UN Genocide Covention (which your country signed) you can be tried in international court for genocide. Taking children from their families and forcing them to intergrate into your "Canadian Culture" isnt much better than putting them on reservations. And no the settlers did not slaughter over 100 million natives the biggest killer of the natives was widespread disease.

  • Comment removed

  • @GrrrIamMad You don't have to know him. Look at some holocaust videos on youtube then tell me you don't hate him.

  • @GrrrIamMad Socialism represents the government's idealistic view of society, it does not represent the individual and his/her ambitions. The lack of competition gives little room for a progressive increase of standards. It's not as simple as "does stuff to help it's people". There are repercussions, as there are with any government system - I just happen to dislike the attitude many europeans have toward americans.

  • @GrrrIamMad if you could read my comment without interpreting it literally, you will easily figure out that I was typing like an idiot on purpose, hence the word 'country.'

  • @Michele640 No, Yankee isn't an anti-american term, in Australia we call every american a yank but no in an anti way. I don't think they ever claimed it as theirs.. "He stuck a feather in his hat

And called it macaroni." i mean.. really?

  • i LOVE it!

  • I think cohan has something to declare!

  • Where can I get a flag like that?

  • @TacoJFK3226 At american flags dot com

It's called a Betsy Ross flag. Cost is $12USD.

  • @jbranstetter04 Thank you jbranstetter04

  • Yes, I do have proof, this song is genuinely American. Among other things, ardent anti-Americans have always used the term "Yankee" in order to gratuituously offend and insult Americans, so they would have no right to claim the song as theirs.

  • This wonderful song is exclusively American, it's false that it was brought to the United States by the British.

  • @Michele640 Do you have proof? It's just that everything else you think is "American" is infact English/British/European.

  • 1:00 epic

    gernal washington ^.^

  • @uthar1986 Epic is a good way to describe George Washington. His life could be described as the epic adventures and contributions of George Washington to the world. If you read about the beginning of the United States, you will notice that Washington is there, there when he is needed. He was there at every crossroad. He alone is the man that without, there would be no United States of America, and without this country, the world would be a far worse place.

  • @jbranstetter04

i am from austria, but i am very interessted in history, my grandfather has told me a lot of WWII, i will taker a closer look to the american history

i know that sir isaac newton and sir benjamin franklin have been one of the smartest heads on the planet :D

    sry for my english

  • @uthar1986 I wish people stopped being sorry for their english.

  • Sucked!

  • Great tune!

See me playing it on my keyboard without looking by clicking my name.....i'm only 11 and been playing for just 2 weeks! :-)

  • you know the Europeans made this song the make fun of Americans

  • @mncbrowning you mean..the British.. you do know that 99.95% of Americans are not Native to that side of the world right... most of them are European,Black and Asian.

  • DEATH TO ANGLO-BARBARIANS

  • mmmmm macaroni...

    drool*

  • america sucks

  • barney!

  • yankee doodle went to town... jajaja

  • I love how they wrote this to insult us, then it turned into our main theme

  • i guess that second part was made by the Americans

  • The macaroni in this song does not mean actual macaroni. Macaroni was a popular hairstyle back in the time of the revolutionary war. Also the British called the the colonist that settled in America Yankees also meaning New England and Doodle means fool or stupid. So, by calling the colonist Yankee Doodles that meant New England fools. The stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni meant that the colonist were so stupid that they thought that a feather was the hairstyle called macaroni.
