I see she got used to her booties. My Dachshund is always cold, He loves the summer when it's hot outside. In the winter, he lies in the doorway of the hall and lets the sun warm him.

totally adorable! and yes, smooth doxies do NOT have a double-coat like majority of canines do and therefore, it is entirely appropriate especially in the ice cold winter time for them to wear coats! the booties are a great invention as they can help prevent frostbite and painful cracked pads dogs can get from heavily salted sidewalks!

My Dachshund loves his sweater. He never wants me to take it off of him. I don't see the problem with putting it on him when its keeping him warm. The little guy freezes since his fur is so thin.

The dog needs to go outside to get exercise and do their business. It would be cruel to send it out without the little booties and coat. Why do people think that a domesticated animal can cope with every situation nature can throw at it. Silly people ^____^

Sometimes booties are a necessity, it protects the dogs paws from getting frostbite as well as keeping them from burning their paws on the asphalt during the summer. During AZ summers its cruel not to put shoes on your dogs if you want to take them for a walk down the road.

@KlinksDaveman nah this type of daushund is a short hair so shes probably doing more good keeping the coat ON the daushund

@KlinksDaveman Yeah but dachshunds should never be in the cold for too long, they get very cold ! I personally always put a sweater on my doxie when i take her for a walk. I made the mistake of not doing that once and she would not stop shivering!

In fact, I REGRET not getting my dog a coat and boots when we lived in Alaska because she wouldn't even go to the bathroom sometimes and I would have to carry her back and forth until summer D: So yeah. Those coats are useful, bro.

@KlinksDaveman Dogs get cold just like anyone else. A Dachshund's coat isn't made for cold weather like a Malamute's is it? I used to sit for a little Jack Russel and his adopted brother and sister Golden retrievers. The big dogs loved the cold & snow but little Milo, he'd go pee & run real fast back into the house look, out the window and sigh. I got him a nice warm ski type jacket for Christmas one year. He was able to stay outside longer and play in the snow with his buddies.
