  • UNREAL. :)

  • anyone know what game habana scored that amazing individual try in the 2007 world cup

  • I love rugby

  • anyone else notice the amount of high tackles that would of got pulld up in now rugby

  • Did anyone notice that AWESOME offload?

  • That was a shit try to be honest.

  • sorry PHIL BENNETT

  • cliff morgan BRILLIANT phil edwards BRILLIANT gareth edwards BRILLIANT

  • i've commented before on this spine tingling tryit's just great. just scroll back to the pass between 49-50 seconds. the try scorer is facing the wrong way, number 9. thanks gareth, thanks.

  • That commentater is a true Englishman, classic!

  • The commentator will be horrified at you referring to him as a true Englishman... Cliff Morgan is most definately a Welshman.

  • THIS is the greatest try?

  • and finally - what about the two high tackles lol??

  • @drlenp As far as I know, and it might sound crazy but, the high tackle rules weren't around back then, it was a different game as well as binding in the scrums and fighting for the ball on the ground.

  • I was lucky enough to be at this match - I was only 11 years old and I dont remember much of the match because I was at the back of the South Upper stand and everyone stood up when this try was scored. I look at the programme and the two ticket stubs that I've retained to this day. What a privilige to have been there amongst those Barbarians and Lion greats.

ps ok the pass might have been forward near the end but who cares when such a great moment was created by great men.

  • The epitome of rugby. The sense of decision and purpose. The feeling of attack, attack. The gathering strength and confidence. Team mates all around. The will. The courage in the catch and go again, forever on. A continuous unbroken endeavour. Brilliant.

  • Ah, 240p...we meet again.

  • real rugby

  • How I would have loved Garth to be a Scot. No such luck. He was and remains for me to this day, the greatest rugby player I have ever seen.

  • has any one read when the all blacks where beaten by school boys frow swansea

  • ....... still get goosebumps everytime I see those sidesteps by Bennett to start the counter attack.... what a clever little man!

  • not a huge rugby fan , but the timing and skill is unreal

  • that try deserved more than 4 points

  • @valleyfield43 I know.... thats why it got 5 points.

  • @XxBooSTeRHunTeRxX the rules had just changed to give tries more points...all i meant was it was a good change looking at that try.

  • The commentator makes it for me

He orgasms when Phil Bennet steps the whole All-Black team

Then he uses the word "brilliant" at least a dozen times in as many seconds

Then he makes the phrase "What a score" sound amazing

And finally he recites a poem about the whole thing, pretty much

    A true legend

Not a bad try either :P

  • The high tackles would indeed get a red card today, but one of the great things about this march is that it wasn't a throw- it-around-and-have-fun exhibition match. The All Blacks wanted revenge for their Lions defeat and were seriously committed. That makes the creative play so much more thrilling.

  • Re-employ that commentator

  • That line-out throw was just fantastic...

  • The best rugby match in the world! You will never see this standard of rugby

  • @1992jenks or that standard of commentating either. cracking stuff.

  • @1992jenks Watched this again the other day on ESPN Classic. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it.

  • Forward pass at 0.58 ?

  • @SuperNorske

definately looks like a forward pass, good eyes.......

anyways this was a great try, very impressive

  • @SuperNorske yes that was totally forward

  • i think it was flat

  • @SuperNorske Hard to say, point of view is not frontal, it could be or not, no referring points in the exact moment of the pass...

  • @SuperNorske I think it might just be the camera angle

  • @SuperNorske High tackle at 0:45?

  • You are married to my old school teacher at Tolworth Girls school

  • Weren't tries worth 3 points in those days? It used to be three for a try and four for a drop goal at one time.

  • @Rondav1000 That would explain why England plays like they do.

  • 0:22 would be red card todey definitely

  • @2elpipo fuck the high tackles :)

  • Lol, I typed in "Rugby t" and youtube suggested "Rugby touchdown".

  • aaaahh.........when tries were worth 4 points

  • @taffy4o2 u dick how is it a mixture of irish welsh english and scots if brian habana and victer matfield was playing on saturday for the baa baas u dnt no shit u moron

  • and then the pubs ran dry..........

  • i was the 2.222.222th viewer... please gimme a thumbs up...

  • The distances in the line up, The black pushing the B&W, A lot of high tackles! you can see the evolution here!

  • Ah- Proper Rugger-

Before it turned into a Chess Match for 20 st Oafs.... :(

  • For the information of those Americans commenting here on Rugby: American Football is derived directly from those Rugby-Playing and Association Football -Playing Soccer ) Sportsmen who came to your country over the centuries: see Wikipedia's History of American Football.

  • No matter how many great tries have been scored since that day, and no matter how many great tries are scored in the future, that is the greatest try in the history (and probably the future) of rugby. The sidesteps, the dummys, the burst of pace, the offloading, it has it all!

  • WTF? This sport is a clusterfuck

  • @MiguelangelBasantes

    how dare you.

  • Is this game from our planet?

  • Is this a fucking game? I did not know that. O-o.

  • brilliant.

  • Ooh that fellow Edwrds. Cliff Morgan, legend

  • who cares if they were all welsh they were great players

  • Help me, I don't understand! why is this match between Barbarians and NZ when Barbarians is not a country?

  • @PederReiersrud FC Barbarians is a team based in England, which can be joined by all nationalities but only by invitation.

They play against various international sides and with great succes as well. They might not hold the prestige they used to, as a sort of rugby union dreamteam, since the introduction of the rugby worl cup in -87, but I don't know. Someone else might be able to answer that better.

  • @LarS1963 Thanks a lot . I'm from Norway and i have just plaid rugby for a half year. That's why I didn't know that, i think

  • @PederReiersrud The Baa baa's are a mixture of Welsh, English, Irish and Scots rugby teams

  • @taffy402 and they play NZ

  • se tiro con toda la bronca xD

  • the scrum half of Barbarians , what is his name? he's my new hero

  • @mihneadds Gareth Edwards.

  • Yes,is RUGBY!

  • All WELSH

  • This was considered such a classic sporting moment that it was used in the opening credits of Grandstand for many years. Absolutely outstanding stuff. Cliff Morgan's commentary still gives me chills when I hear it.

  • that gave me shivers down my spine

  • Unbelievable to think that Cliff Morgan was only commentating that day because the late great Bill McLaren was ill with flu.

  • That man is a machine.

  • Those sidesteps at the start...there were three All Blacks paying to get back into the ground...

  • 0:40 You dont see someone step 3 people in a row much these days

  • Pity about the forward pass at 0:54!

  • Thumbs up for 'what a score' lololol

  • woww that's one craaazy try !!!!

  • the good old days no bull crap, score, shake hands, start game ..

  • @jakeelliot1 Good thing or bad thing?

  • @shiverz637 good:)!

  • Whenever I am in need of a little smile I watch this clip. Always does the trick!! Watched it so many times, but still can't see the "great dummy" by John Dawes!!

  • haha i dont know how to play rugby, but this was pretty badass! :D

  • I'm getting goosebumps watching this! Great stuff! Rugby, the BEST sport ever!

  • I'm English and I still say Gareth Edwards is the best player I've had the privilege to see play.

  • who would dislike this?

  • but get over it, you lost last night and were beaten by a better team this week. Phil bennett, i had the pleasure of meeting u and u r the man!

  • yep, we all appreciate that these were the halcyon days of welsh rugby. outstanding players.

  • Best

    Haircuts

    Ever

  • @PosterChild63 nuff said

  • I don't like rugby but fuck me, that was amazing!

  • damn john pullin, getting in the way of what would have been an all WELSH try.

  • Can't watch it without tears in my eyes. In the presence of true greatness...

  • wasn't that good. The ABs obviously weren't trying

  • @sydneymassive ....Apart from the 2 head high tackles :-)

  • different class

  • different world

  • that try is the closest to rugby poetry there can be.

  • Mercurial

  • the camera angle makes it look like its forward at 0:58 ,it well could of been but camera angles have been known to make it apear diffrently to what the ref sees

  • In a few hours time you're going to see the greatest try ever when Quade Cooper kills NZ!

  • @Oliphant1981 stfu , Its GAY COOPER

  • Perfection -well neaely!!

  • rugby at its finest.cliff morgan`s commentary,PRICELESS

  • I love how there's very little celebrating at the end of this try. No hugging, no postering, no whooping or shouting - just a quick hand shake and a 'well done boy'. Like a boss.

  • @moz1983 Maybe coz they were being paid in beer rather than moolah

  • @moz1983 compared to baseball where theyre all jumping around like little kids. dumbest thing ive ever seen. i find myself making sound effects when i see em all jumping around like that lol

  • @moz1983 No I think it sort of ruins it. The greatest sporting moments are the ones where there are huge stakes and someone pulls it of and there's pandemonium afterward.

  • @moz1983 Lol that's because they don't really know each other. :P

  • lol, 0:21 and 0:45 brilliant high tackles by the ABs......miss the good old days of rugby!

  • Hang on... Welsh player, Welsh player, Welsh player.. oh ... AND ANOTHER WELSH PLAYER!

  • @jakeelliot1 yah that's the greatest part! Love Welsh rugby, my favorites

  • @OettingerCroat Same!:D

  • Comment removed

  • @jakeelliot1 Yes my buddy bach! Now that was the best sidestep ever by Phil Bennett, I think it actually defied the laws of physics!!

  • @jakeelliot1 I'm thumbing-up and I'm English!

  • @jakeelliot1

Pullin was the England captain but the rest of them were Welsh alright. Best try ever.

  • 240p

  • the final dive .....Mike Phillips' try v Ireland in the world cup QF just the same : )

  • Brings a tear to the eye

  • It doesn't matter how many times I watch this - it always makes me smile...

  • i love how the commentator says 'halfway line"

  • Mr.Angry, calm yourself down. You're gonna choke on your own bile. Don't be a prick all your life, there's a good boy !!!!!!!!

  • Great Welsh Players.

  • Naa I've seen better

  • @Samwisegamgi6 how?

  • the gritty footage and crowd going ballistic is just too much!! Brilliant!!

  • i hate rugby. but that was the best move i have ever seen.

  • the 10 does the sickest step ever

  • @mashyline Na mate I'm Welsh & I'm more than looking forward to meeting NZ in the final. (As long as you don't cheat).

  • and he doesn't fucking carry on after he scores it. Brilliant!!!!

  • OMG WHAT A TRY!

  • nice try sure !!!

  • Somebody told him that he could fuck a sheep if he scored a try...then...

  • like if you think the comentators voice is gay! :L

  • @Samdaminecraftman You must be gay to think that you fucking homo. It's called a Welsh accent.

  • @11ellsbells dunno about you, but to me he sounds a wee bit like Neil Kinnock. well, very slightly. d'ye have any idea who it actually is by the way?

  • @robsargent4 Commentator is Cliff Morgan (see "Cliff Morgan" in wikipedia)

  • lol at the high tackles...

  • Brilliant!

  • If the greatest writer of the written word HAD written that story .... please Morgan, get your grammar right.

  • @kealyc1 and your point is?

  • @madeinwales68 - listen to his commentary at the end.

  • A try used to be worth 4 points.

  • Why did it say 4 points it should be 5

  • @DanielButtfillios - just make sure you're wearing your helmet and pads in your comfortable chair, wouldn't want you splitting an end would we? Just saying...

  • If this is the best Rugby has to offer, I'll stick to watching american football, just saying...

  • @DanielBustillos Yeah, with you but believe me this ain't the best. It's just very good team play but the tube is full of great tries. To see the best you have to watch the All Blacks. British have never taken to anyone smashing them in any of their games and rugby ain't an exception. I played outside linebacker and running back as well as 10 years of rugby in England and I honestly prefer rugby, AF is more violent and dynamic in outbursts, but rugby is a continuous, dramatic battle. Good luck.

  • How does this try only have 2 million views but yet Justin Bieber has about a zillion views. Still to this day, quite simply the best try of all time! 100% Masterpiece!!

  • Im from NZ.. and even I will admit that is probably the best team try of all time :)

  • I love the fact that all black fans hate this try becuase it will never be beaten and was at a time when the all blacks were all conquering....hahaha

  • @butzee Bullshit, I don't hate this try, it is great, but FOR ME not the greatest ever. It seems to me you havn't seen enough rugby or you just close your eyes and ears to reality. It has already been beaten many times. How many vids are named the best of whatever, including tries? check the tube. Really the shit is on you cos you will never admit that the All Blacks are just from another planet. The facts are losses and wins, sum them up, the world already has!

  • @ChandelierLeBlair notice they were both on JPR, the All Blacks had it in for him throughout his career leading to one of them stamping on his face. Don't like it when you stand up to them, toe to toe

  • @dannylmeats Yes, animal behaviour and too bad for JPR's face and to hell with the beast that did it. Yet you are wrong, all competitive players love to have opposition stand toe to toe, that is the best scene for a game. Some overcome that and become the greatest, All Blacks, others do well from time to time. JPR was the best ever in Wales, probably Britain, now the best in the world ever, no way. Tell me what makes the best rugby player and talk about alround don't go down to positions, LOMU.

  • SUPER SID!

    New Zealand's favourite bandicoot.

  • Goosebumps.

  • This has great commentary!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • What a try. Cymru am byth

  • I was eight & thought 'magical, love to do all that' Luckily my school was rugby mad but at 11yrs I was very small but the try gave me belief as I remembered Edwards & Bennett were also small The try had it all, a powerful adversary, trickery of the small man side stepping the big man, sale of a dummy pass, desperate hands of the big man keeping the ball alive to somehow one hand pass it to another little man,who came out of nowhere to dive it over, 'what a score!' inspirational & gods calling

  • One from the very top drawer of all time sporting moments - made so much more enjoyable by Cliff Morgans wonderful microphone work.

  • brilliant back play considering the Barbarians weren't a real team playing week in week out, amazing communication and instinct running.

  • Cant believe them 2 tackles they where crap

  • Come on Ireland

  • @johnnyjod ha Ireland beat Australia

  • @WeLikeDanceMusicLol I also love it when australia get beaten:)

  • Come on Ireland

  • how do you not love this try?!
