  • The most amazing part is that this game is being independently developed 100% by just 9 people.

  • Skiing anyone?

  • I lost my shit when the flat rings turned into a cloud of rocks right before my eyes.

  • The Rings are amazingly Designed o.e

  • Ok I REALLY hope I can drop my balls off a mountain in the final game :D

  • its going to be a MMOFPS space sim thing were you can build citys if you want to, not a RTS. also infinty won't have you saveing the world and then some one saveing the world again a minuet latter, the plot actually progresses, for instance once earth has been found (some how humans lost earth...) it will be found for good and the story will move on, for everyone, at once. (yes i know this comments are up to a year old)

  • 5/5 Amazing engine. Please don't make the game something we've seen a million times before...

BTW; is the planet realisticly sized, say, ~6,000 km in radius?

  • Please... Please let this engine be released, it almost makes me sad to see that this will be used on another third-rate MMORPG with Cliche' ships and space lasers and crappiness.

That said, the engine is amazing. It's beautiful and amazing. I can't imagine how many and what absolutely amazing games could be made with this. RTS, FPS, 3PS (Vehicles). I mean, holy crap, the possibilities for an engine of this magnitude are amazing and endless...

And they waste it on another cliche...

  • @Eagle1Division2 You really fuckin' don't know what are you talking about mate... Comment fail :D

  • @ELFoglalt17 I totally fucking agree with you. Probably a CoD fanboy, that do not appreciate an epic game like this. In fact, an engine like this is best used on something as beautiful as space games. AND SPACE GAMES IS FUCKING RARE GODDAMN IT. I WANT MORE SPACE GAMES, I CAN'T EVEN FIND ANY GOOD ONES BESIDES FREELANCER.

  • @Eagle1Division2 This game is nothing like what you may have seen before. You say that space lasers and ships are cliche, this is a freakin space game set in the future. How the fuck can a space ship be a cliche in a space game? It's not cliche, it's a rule. That is ofc unless you wish to attach a warp drive to your space suit.

  • @Eagle1Division2 Crappy space games? DUDE, it's only you who fucking think this kinda of game sucks. You know what? Space games are epic(as in the real meaning: Vast), all of us want this engine to be used on a beautiful game like this. And not some 'RTS, FPS, TPS'. Seriously dude, I dont even know what to say to a fag like you. P.S. 9 people designed the engine, the game, and the whole thing by themselves. Appreciate it.

  • @ronaldli5 I'm not dissing on the engine or the devs or even space games. One of my fav. games of all time is HW1 and HW2. But what I don't like is that the game for it is gonna be so darn cliche'. I mean, in terms of combat and spaceships and all, it's probably just gona blend in with other games like Eve online.

The engine is absolutely awesome, and so are space games. But I know so much about actual space engineering and science they make me cringe b/c of total lack of realism...

  • @ronaldli5 IMO a realistic space game would make it incredibly, indescribably unique. Done well, it would make unique and awesome gameplay that would blow everything else out of the water. That plus infinity engine would be mind blowing. But instead of doing anything new or unique, they're just going with cliche'd lasers and purely artistic crazy spaceship designs... I think realistic stuff is absolutely beautiful.

Once again, I'm talking about the content. The Infinity ENGINE IS mind-blowing.

  • @Eagle1Division2 Thank you for not being rude with me. Umm...... yeah, how would you know that this game is going to be pure cliche lasers and ships without even having the alpha version released? Besides, what else is there to realism in space besides spaceships? What else is there new to add to space games and to remove to make it not as cliche? Besides, FPS and other shit like that was and is on the rage. I hardly see any fucking space games nowadays....*continued*

  • @Eagle1Division2 *continued*... I personally think that allll space games are beautiful since I like to admire the beauty of the epic(vast) scenery, even if it has to do with lasers and stuff. Also, I would like to add that this engine and this video is THAT new thing to space games. It allows landing of ships ON planets and visiting of them, and only 1 space game I've heard of does that job, poorly still though. This engine would be best spent on a space game(something big), don't you agree???

  • @ronaldli5 Well of course this would be best spent on a space game, it's just I wish the space game it was spent on was more unique. And being someone who has at least an ameteur understanding of space vehicles, those wacko designs make me cringe every time I see them. And even if I didn't know a thing about design, I think real spaceships and stations are far more beautiful and elegant anyways. Why not at least style the appearance like the inside of the shuttle's Mid-deck?

  • @ronaldli5 I mean, even Avatar had some really neat looking spaceships and such, that had a really awesome feel to them. Even UNSC ships from HALO had a neat feel to them, they were at least designed on a basis other than randomness (The ships are essentially giant MAC's with engines and life support, and smaller turrets.)

I've been out of the loop for awhile, so they've decided you'll be able to explore the planets on foot? That's awesome! Like I said, I love the engine.

  • @Eagle1Division2 Haha, yeah, the space to planet transition is awwesome, but only restricted to spaceship movement/landing. Walking on FOOT is impossible as it requires too many resources for a team of 9. And how would you know that the spaceships would suck in this game if they haven't even shown it yet? Freelancer had damn good ships too, and it was a 2003 classic~ (ranging from small scouting ships to a massive assault carrier)

  • @ronaldli5 They have shown ships... I loved the ships from Avatar (The Venture Star ISV in the first 5 minutes was my favorite part of the movie by far! XD), and the best videogame ships I've seen was Homeworld 2. I just liked the semi/quasi-realistic "feel" they put on things. "Initiating hyperspace jump" and the sensor display just topped it off!

But Im harsh on design. I'd love to see some realistic lasers (wiki THEL) and spaceships (google images "pegasus voyage to the planets") <3 Pegasus

  • @Eagle1Division2 Anyway, enough with the typings, but this engine is best spent on a space game, rather than games we find everywhere. The 9 people who created this engine definitely deserves their right to do what they want with it. personally, i'm definitely gonna look forward to playing this game~

  • What is that a space elevator?

  • Awesome 5/5

  • Nice 5/5

  • I was moved by the scale of the infinity engine, it`s going to be hard task to find a good implementation for a game cause possibilities are endless.

    Very very very good job

  • Well so far, it's closed-source, so only Infinity is implementing it, and they're planning to make it a MMORTS or something.

  • MMORPG actually... Like Eve without the crappiness.

  • no to be an asshole but the crappiness come fom the fact it's a MMORPG.

I understand how much money that sort of server based environnement must cost but I think doing a game for a more limited number of player will keep it from becoming as boring than a real repetitive life.

  • You're right, MMORPGs are just not a good kind of game, I can't get into them.

It's bad enough that I'm saving the same world a billion other people have saved, but in an MMORPG, THEY'RE STILL SAVING IT. And then more people join and save it again and nothing makes sense in MMO-land!

  • Are the balls rolling on the fractal function or on polygons generated by the function? Also can you walk on the surface with a basic spheroid collision detector?

  • I think they have to generate polygons to render it anyway, they're probably just using a less detailed polygon mesh for physics.

  • Yeah but the problem with bouncing on the polygons is that there can be a level of detail issue where the a new polygon gets created through a ball and screws up the collision detection. I've messed with fractals some. If you bounce on the fractal itself you don't get that probelem but there are other issues with that.

  • Very very impressive.

  • Wow...just wow. Not too crazy until 2:22. I know it's a physics demo, but you really get a feel for the scale of things near the end of the video.
