ugh I wish all the people hating on this car would do a little more research before deciding which cars are better.... this car is RWD because Subaru can't make 2 AWD sports cars for an identical price that's just stupid.... also there is high demand for a car that is fun to drive... that said AWD makes any driver good where RWD will challenge drivers more, making it more fun..... and also if you guys did more research you'd see that they are going to make an STI version (300+Bhp) so relax :)

@sgrim1017 subaru only does hood scoops for their turbo charged cars, the air is directed to the top mount intercooler. This is 200 hp of pure engine, non-turbo, IE no hood scoop. Agreed its dissappointing-

@puttputt1914 Don't get too down on the hp numbers just yet. If they manage their target weight of around 2500 lbs, 200hp should be -plenty- of power for it. Also, we can be reasonably sure there will be a wrx/sti edition with our favorite 2.5 ltr turbo engines.

The Toyota version will be a Scion here in the states. N the Subaru version will most likely have a better suspension. All n all 200hp direct injected boxer in a 2500lb rwd car will be as fun if not at times better then a more expensive WRX or STI on dry road. If they turboed it n had AWD then STI sales would decline cause people if a 4 door is needed would just buy a WRX. Makes senses for both companies n the WRX, STI or now BRZ all have there place.

I read in I think the C&D magazine that it'll weigh around 2800. Now that I think about it, it should be pretty quick. Because the genesis is a pig they weigh as much as an Sti. Now that I think of it the brz with the same power and about 400lbs less weight should put the genesis it to shame. Put the wrx motor and it could serve competition the 370

This car, the Subaru BRZ/Toyota FT-86/Scion FRS, has the same engine as what is in the Subaru STI. It's the 2.0L Boxter flat 4, just in naturally aspirated mode, a turbo version like that in the current STI is planned for release and will likely see the same HP and trq numbers. This car will have it's pros and cons just as the Impreza STI does, each will shine in it's own way.
