  • i think when the idea came to james cameroun when someone said to him, i dare you to make a milti-billion dollar movie. and james said, "l'ii showw you that i can. 12 years later, we have titanic and avatar, eaqualling to at least more than 3 billion dollars worldwide. keep at it james.

  • Originality in the telling of the story was definately spectacular...the story itself can be seen in tons of kids movies though...Pocahontas, Fern Gully, Toy Soldiers...but it still was a great movie and I'm stoked it did so well

  • I have been studying Indian/Native American resistence in the my class and I can really find alot of similarities between the Idian/Native American people and the Na'vai. Overall I thought Avatar was really good. And I'm not gonna lie saying that it was the best movie I have ever seen in theaters. Though I'm only 14 thats still pretty remarkable in my opninion.

  • "Avatar wasn`t very original, and the movie was too predictable. and it didint have any balls to try something new. I expected more from james cameron`s writing capabilities, but I thought the movie was ok, not a life changing experience like he promised but it was ok. I also think that Avatar is way overrated."

I agree with this comment. Thumbs up from me at least.

  • u r so wrong.

  • Avatar beat Titanic in the Box-Office. Ha ha ha!!! Take that James Cameron!...no wait.

  • Avatar Is New King of the World.

  • i like ur emphasis on "originality" coz it's been lacking in hollywood movies lately.

it was a great movie n worth the 3hrs butt cramp

  • i'm glad it's actually successful. This is a beacon of hope for good movies.

  • And guess what? The Asylum, the infamous b-movie production company, famous for movies such as Transmorphers, Snakes on a Train and Sunday School Musical, have made their own ripoff of Avatar called Princess of Mars. Well, that's to be expected with The Asylum.

  • Well, Avatar did make over a billion dollars. That really shows something. I heard a guy died from a heart attack from watching it too. (I heard about it on The Young Turks.) But the inevitable video game that must be made to tie in with every big movie (for some reason) I heard was mediocre if not downright terrible, which I expected.

  • Blue Man Group? I was thinking highly-evolved smurfs.

  • well you have to be happy with the money it made....but tbh every movie lover has to be. we want more original movies.

  • Yeah, I saw a picture of a document of a synopsis of Pocahontas, but with the characters and places of Pocahontas replaced with those of Avatar. It sounded exactly the same. I still liked the movie, but I would only see it in Imax and 3D. Only the visuals are spectacular.

  • i love the move it is worth seeing no dout about it

  • It is better than Any other movies (LOTR Dark Knight Harry Potter POTC). It is truly original story. Some people think it is copy of Dances with Wolf.Dances with Wolf was the firs idea of someone who love outside of that culture or country want to be one of them and live like them.Avatar is the best movie ever.Avatar proved that Made 1 billion dollar in 17 days. And there are more than 10 million fans of Avatar.Only big movies or comics like Star Wars, Lord of the Ring have 10 million fans.

  • True Lies is a remake of a French film.

  • Avatar wasn`t very original, and the movie was too predictable. and it didint have any balls to try something new. I expected more from james cameron`s writing capabilities, but I thought the movie was ok, not a life changing experience like he promised but it was ok. I also think that Avatar is way overrated.

  • hmm you say not very original? but maybe you forgot that this story has already been alive for like 12 years but cameron just couldnt make it without the right technology so i think its still the best movie ever created so far

  • I agree pedrofagim. It was ok. As I said on another post I did not leave the movie thinking I wasted 9 bucks. I thought it was dry at times and was looking at my 10yr old to make sure he was not bored. I would recommend it based on the lousy movies to choose from, but I don't see all the hipe. The lord of the rings was way better and I find myself to this day being drawn into that movie when it is on tv.

  • avatar is so gay. i never saw a movie with so much gayness. its like that planet was full of nothing but penises and tampons. if you like this movie you must be as gay as it.

  • wow. what a retard.lol i'm sorry but u need to be more "opened" to "new" things

  • Exactly! Thats exactly how America should think! That planets like other planets of the same sex. . .Yeah, then DON'T see Avatar.

  • this is a KICK ASS MOVIE you retarded if you think it isnt

  • @occody it was amazing the first time but after that u realize all the retarted stuff in it

  • That's exactly how America should think! That movies are homosxual. . .Yeah, go see New Moon with your Mom

  • Fail troll is obvious...

You're much too liberal with the words "gay", makes you too obvious. Mix it up a little, you'll learn how to troll eventually.

  • Oh... I'm so glad that it's actually did Very well in the "box office" sales.

... and I Certainly hope that this will force those idiots in Hollywood to make "original" movies and not always make THOSE F****** SEQUELS OF EVERYTHING THAT WORKS!!w3tjqaeoiyhsaio4peyujj

... If they would make a sequel of this movie, I would have to choke a bitch

    >:

  • The first time I tried to see Avatar, it was totally sold out! And I had wanted to see this movie twice in order to support it. Well, looks like there's no need for that.

  • IT'S ORIGINAL

    ...

    dances with smurfs anyone?

don't worry I already saw it

  • I dont know about u folks but i didn't realy liked this movie..yeah sure the effects where outstanding and all that..but the plot was just predictable and booring..

  • Wow A BILLION DOLLARS? In 17 days? Holy crapazoli! I think the movie future is as bright as a new lightbulb! That is, if Hollywood realizes that it's the originality that made it great.

  • It's opening weekend didn't even make 100 million dollars in the US. But no need to fear the movie has made over 1 Billion dollars world wide. Does it deserve to gross more than The Dark Knight, and The Return of the King in my opinion no. However I'm glad it's a major hit and it is a great movie(just not better than return of the king or the dark knight).

  • @09tranm

it is the second highest grossing film worldwide.

    First being James Cameron's Titanic

  • I've been trying to find a good time to see it.

The only problem I see is that instead of HWood thinking to make more creative movies, they'll just make more crappy ones resembling this, with blue people fighting for their world.

  • I've been trying to find a good time to see it.

  • Here's how the list of highest-grossing films looks as of Jan 6, 2009

    Titanic - $1,848,879,955

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - $1,119,110,941

    Avatar - $1,098,736,685

Titanic ran for 10 months, so far Avatar's is third all time after just 19 DAYS!! I don't think there's any question that pretty soon James Cameron will have the 1st and 2nd highest grossing films.

  • 1 billion.......in 17 days, face it, youre superhuman. Your message practically alered reality and gave this movie everything you asked for, in 17 days! I loved this movie but I NEVER thought it would stand a chance against the dark knight! Im intrigued as to how this will affect hollywood

  • Are you going to post up a follow up review to this? Saying how AVATAR is setting records?

  • We did, TMPC, we managed to make this movie get over billion dollar worldwide. And that's fucking amazing.

  • This movie had me interested in seeing it but I had no money to see it in theaters. Judging how well this movie is doing so far, I'd buy it on DVD. Looks damn good to me. :)

  • This movie had me interested in seeing it but I had no money to see it in theaters. Judging how well this movie is doing so far, I'd buy it on DVD. Looks damn good to me. :)

  • I just saw the movie, most awesome. I need to see it at least two more times to take it all in.

  • "it's original..." lmao

  • Brilliant movie, man. I show this to a lot of people.

  • That is really a great movie you will find it great

  • I LOL'd so hard at 4:13 - the cute bubble noise and the irreverent "We're fucked" was just hilarious.

  • Looks like the movie is well on its way to passing $800 Million worldwide. It should make over $1.2 Billion at the box-office and be the biggest movie this decade. Though the increase in price for a 3D ticket is helping make more than it would if it was regular movie release. Also, while the movie is one of the best cinematic experiences i've had this year, the movie really won't be the same once it's off the big screen and not in 3D. Nonetheless, I did love the movie. Congrats to Fox

  • Yes, the movie has currently made over a billion dollars. However, because of what we have been seeing recently, I think instead of interpreting this success as "original movies make more money", the Storyboard will probably just say, "we need to make more avatar movies."

  • @ChromeSeilot

Cameron had already said long ago if this film does well he wanted to make more 'Avatar' movies. We should be expecting a trilogy, hopefully crafted with as much care and consideration as the origional.

I trust Cameron to make sure that he doesn't make a crap sequel like many other film makers.

  • I have no doubt that Cameron will make amazing sequels for Avatar, and I admit I would like to see more of Pandora or even another alien planet. I am just saying, Catolf, that I would like to see some more movies that are as original and well crafted as this. It is undeniable we need more filmmakers like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Tim Burton, Peter Jackson, and, of course, James Cameron.

  • those small flying ships...dont they look like the hornets from halo 3?

  • God damn that's a good movie. Hold on guys, hold on for the trilogy!

  • Crowd: LONG LIVE GOOD MOVIES! THERE IS HOPE! THERE IS HOPE! LONG LIVE GOOD MOVIES! THERE IS HOPE! THERE IS HOPE!

  • James Cammeron said he had a story mapped out for two more movies and will be made if Avatar does well. The way Avatar us selling and doing it is a must

  • I have to see this film in 2-D. I went to the 3-D showing and it made me naseous. I had to leave after an hour because I was so sick that I could not enjoy this amazing movie.

  • Aperently, the IMAX shows are STILL sold out!

I'VE never heared of anything getting sold out two weeks after opening! I hade to buy my ticket 8 hours in advance just to see it in regular, (with 3d). Great movie, but the thing I will remember from watching it is... kicking out a child and his spoild mom out of the theatre(had to call security) for steeling my seat!

    =D

Glad to see TWO origional films this year!

  • YES you watch "the hour" on CBC!

    awesome show!

  • it made about 200 mil openning weekend and its said to make 1bil worldwide W00t theirs hope in the world

  • I swa it twice and want watch it another time in imax. But its hard to get some f*in* IMAX Card...

  • PIXAR!!!!!!

  • people see it because of james cameron. thats it.

  • I hope that beyond all the special effects that people who watch this film will understand the fundamental message. What is it about death and destruction that seems to drive the human animal. When will the human race ever learn?

  • dear god its every producers worst nightmare

  • Original SW Trilogy, FTW!

But on a more serious note, Mr Movie Critic, you have my respect. I agree with you 1000%

I always thought originality was dead, and I'll admit that when I saw previews for this, I didn't really care much about it because it was missing a lot of that traditional Hollywood "flare" but now It's #1 on my must-see list!

Kudos on the great message too!

  • great explaination. im relieved abit because of this video. tks. still avatar is the number 1 that's what i believe.

  • There were those who said that avatar would be a flop and epic failure from the get go. After 2 weeks and a total global gross of $617.3 million, what are they to say now?

  • in my opinion avatar is number 1!

  • Great comment and pov!! You should have stopped at 7:40.

  • spread the word!!! if they make good profits they are gonna make sequel!!!

  • thats true!

  • i m soooo getting this when it comes out in dvd

  • no it is one of the movies you have to see in theaters

  • me to!

  • Ofcourse James Cameron was planing Avatar before Titanic...but the problem was the low Camera technique to make this Epic Movie

Great Story + Great Characters + Great Soundtrack + James Cameron = EPIC MOVIE EVER!!

I Watched the Movie in theaters over 5 times normal andd 3D...just MIND BLOWING!!. Hope for the TRILOGY.

btw: Zoe Saldana is pretty HOT as Neyitiri xD

  • ((Don't read fallowing, Spoiler in a way))

Hey you were kind of right about the main character dying, at least his original body and in away his original way of thinking, you could say he was reborn in more then one way.

  • It was a great movie, although it would have been interesting if the navi had lost and were forced to leave, and then in a later film reclaim the land. But that's just my opinion, James Cameron sure can make an entertaining film.

Anyone think it was odd how fast the guy captured the red dragon? Just getting above it, nobody else thought of that?

  • That's the thing, he wanted us to have an imagination and THINK of how it happened, like books.

  • What?

  • He wanted the viewer to imagine how he captured the dragon, just to give the movie a little more spice to it. Just like a book, you have to picture it to get the general idea of how it happened

  • The Navi losing their land the way the people in the Rainforests or the First Nations lost their land?....what a horrible thought.

  • avatar was probably one of if not the best movie ive ever seen. the best in 3D for sure it should win best picture. just amazing filmmaking

  • man i got to say it. you are good at this, we share all the ideas your saying. GREAT JOB! =)

  • Genius movie preview critic. As always genius.

  • Who cares if it's been leaked online. The best way to watch is in 3-D preferably 3D IMAX!!! It will never be the same watching it on a 2D computer Screen. Besides although I think the movie is great and all and it's plot is okay nothing spectacular. It wouldn't have been nearly as great watching it in 2D. So I'm probably not going to get it on DVD I might download it.

  • Lover of CGI...nope.

  • this muvie is realy good

  • I agree as to its mimicry; idea-wise, it looks & feels like a combo of dances with wolves, dreamscape, star wars , aliens, transformer, final fantasy, LOR etc. But it leaves no viewer out; you have to be dead not to like this one; didn't see the 3D yet. I am 51, took my seven year old son to this one, we both were glued to our seats & yes we turned blue. . Don't get a Big Gulp, but then thats the effect Titanic had.

  • Please watch the latest video I uploaded Avatar Movie: You Dont Need to be Blue to Look Beautiful If you think I missed any valid point worth mentioning & IF you feel comfortable then Please be kind to give your suggestions. Just in case IF you DONT like, Simply forget it.

    Thank you.

  • From Wikipedia: "Worldwide, the film grossed an estimated $232,180,000 in its opening weekend, the ninth largest opening-weekend gross of all time, and the largest for a non-franchise, non-sequel and original film."

    HUZZAH!

  • This movie amazed me, it made up for all of the shitty movies that came out this year, like that HUGE disappointment called Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. >=/ I am still pissed about that!

  • Jus seen avatar yesterday and it is probally the best film I've ever seen, it even gave me goosebumps

  • James camron blew lucas and peter jackson away with this movie hands down best movie i seen for along time!!!!

  • I watched it yesterday, and I wanna watch it again!

  • I saw the movie today..finally. My god, i haven't felt so good after watching a movie since...damn, i don't remember.

The moral and message may be "dated"..but it's still a pretty present message to this day. It does mimic classic stories such as Pochahontas, but that is still a scenario that is present in real life to this day still.

James did a awesome job fleshing this world and watching it in 3-D made the immersion meter break past it's limit. Thank you James Cameron!

  • i've seen those amp suits before a decade ago in return of the jedi (at sp). matrix revolutions had one, and aliens had one too with sigourney weaver using it.

nothing new here. $300 in special effects. $0 in creativity. they are there to mine unobtainium. UNOBTAINIUM? at least call it something else.

  • The story is familiar in order to free your mind allowing you to take in the visual splendor that the movie has to offer.

A highly original story would tax the viewers mind and be a slight distraction from the immersive technologies that the film employees.

In other words, If it had an original story like District 9 had I'd be asking too many questions about the story, like, "what happened?" and "what's going to happen?" and "why is this?" to ever feel like "Holy Shit! I'm flying!"

  • Ironically, original storytelling is exactly what Avatar is NOT.

I still don'd get either the hype before release, or the hype after. As a movie, I perfected District 9.

  • Avatar!!!

  • Original? Thought I was watching ferngully. Sorry, but this was all hype. Poor dialogue, weak, predictable story...

The 3D was amazing, although after a while I stopped noticing it - guess I got used to it. The Colonel was a badass, although putting a knife on a mech is pretty stupid (as if there's a huge difference between a knife and a giant metal hand punching you).

It's just...every movie I've seen like this was better. Comparing the final battle to Return of the king's is laughable.

  • @ilikepigtails if you know anything about close combat, you will understand the use of a knife.

  • @bilap1. I fully understand close combat and knives. But we're talking about a Mech Warrior, which isn't even a close combat unit. How easy do you think it'd even be to pull out a knife when you can't see below the midsection? You might be talented using a mech, but grabbing a knife and using it like that is a bunch of bullshit.

  • again you are showing your stupidity.the navi's aren't exactly puny, and the colonel uses his knife to kill the palulukan when naytiri detaches his gun.now tell me,would he have been able to kill the palulukan with his giant metal hand?

use the barain in your head .this isn't some shitty scifi film, everything done with the figting scenes in this film is based on simple logic considering all possible scenarios.

  • I would have forwarded this to everyone but the FDR reference bad taste and unnecessary to make your point..

Too bad, Other than that well done..

  • ground braking effects good story but very poorly deliverd too the audience.. this movies it the bigest dissapointment ever...

  • Uh...what the fuck was with the FDR and Hippie movement?

OMG....you're taking this a little TOO SERIOUSLY.

  • But I agree with Avatar's true meaning:

A visionary telling us a story.

  • I wouldn't say it's original...the story is pretty familiar...you did put up Bambi as an example.

BUT......DISTRICT 9? That is the definite example of originality. God, I fucking love that movie

Anyway, Imma gonna go see Avatar...it looks awesome, maybe no the best movie ever, but a good time

  • i wouldnt call that movie very orginal exept the fact that aliens where stupid and eat from trashcans...

  • I loved it, its been one of the best movies this year :)

  • The Movie is Fantastic! Story and effects are way better then i thought it would be! 10/10

  • wtf i thought it was based on the f**King cartoon nothing like it its abit screwed up

  • Is it me or the guy narrating at the beggining sounds like Satan from dbz.

But the film looks so awesome.

  • After seeing avatar midnight showing. It wasn't really midnight show worthy and the story flat out ripped off the last samurai and pocahantas. The effects were good but they were the same quality of transformers and district 9, or maybe a little less. It was good but not as good as i would've hoped. BTW its not better than lord of the rings.

  • @JoshTheSniper :

    silly

  • Avatar is a rip-off of The Last Samurai

  • @Exverlobter

    silly

  • I was a bit disappointed and felt like they showed 'most of the scenes' during the promotions and publicity so much that nothing more was 'left' as a 'surprise element'.

The film makers should avoid showing exclusive clippings otherwise the viewer's shall not feel that involved while 'watching and enjoying' the movie.

It kills the excitement. Dont forget the media circus runs 24/7 and they shamelessly keep on repeating the same thing again and again.

    cont. ...

  • The director of the movie and his entire team are being successful by showing a different world altogether in the name of planet 'Pandora'.

The surroundings shown during the night time are amazing, beautiful and visually mesmerizing'.

Watch the movie in theatres. Dont fall into the prey of video piracy. Otherwise you will simply miss the visual delight of the movie.

    cont. ...

  • I don't usually like overrated stuff, but I must say differently about Avatar. God, this movie is going to be so amazing...

If one can get past the Blue Furry aspect of the movie....

  • I love how people say this is a original film. For those of you who do say that, I suggest you look up a book titled Call Me Joe. Yea, a real visionary director.

  • well seems like the legend has foretold

  • This movie can really suck you in if you let it. all the prerequisites are there, namely a good story, believable characters, a whole new planet/culture... and on top of that comes the 3D.

I still am a skeptic of 3D, but this one really worked for me and made everything feel more realistic although it only has little live-action, as weird as that may sound.

  • Nice job, but two things caught my attention. The first is that Jake is almost guaranteed to not die in the film since Sam Worthington is under contract for two more movies. The second is that IMO Cameron's name holds pretty big marketability, at least as far as directors go and I think that the studio also knows this fact. Other then that great synopsis and can't wait until tomorrow to see the film.

  • I watched it today! It was AWESOME! :D An almost-3-hours movie.

The best movie that I've seen in 2009!

  • In 2D or 3D?

I'm watching it on Saturday in 2D and next week in 3D.

  • I watched it in 2D. I think it would be really great to watch it in 3D. The CGI effects were really fantastic. :)

  • I bet they are =) I've seen a few clips from the movie and it looks so beautiful. Did you think that the actual story, apart from the CGI effects, was good as well?

  • Well, honestly, I wouldn't say that it has the 'most original plot'. Well, at least it has a decent plot, that was what I thought. Not like most movies these days, efor example: 2012. :p I thought Sam Worthington did fantastic with his character, Jake Sully. And so did most of the cast. Overall, I really think it's a movie worth watching in the theatres.

  • Ok, I've seen it now =) I agree with you. The plot was a bit so so. Many plot points could have been explored a lot more I feel. So the main story remained a bit too choppy.

But the visuals were absolutely fantastic. I've never seen a movie this beautiful. I can't wait to see it in 3D =)

  • Can anyone say Thundercats? No, seriously, i can't wait to see this movie.

  • Funny thing is, that most of people who complain about this movie haven't seen it. I hate people who complain when they haven't seen it.

  • I'm going to see it the day after tomorrow and probably a few more times after that.

I'm listening to the soundtrack now. Pretty impressive stuff.

Did you know that James had decided that the CGI effects were developed enough to make Avatar when he saw Lord of the Ring's Gollem?

  • Well this this feels like a futuristic cowboy and and indian film.

Well thats the vibe im getting.

  • this movie looks kinda stupid i know theyre aliens but blue people simalar to our people, not buying it.

  • @IAmBlackDragonX I was thinking the samething at first but I'm willing to look past that because I know I will at least get my money's worth......so I will check it out this weekend.

  • i thought this movi was going to e about the tv show Avatar the last airbender, in fact i could swear i saw a commercial with a monk that had an arow on his head. whens that coming out??? this is not a rhetorical question please somone answer me

  • @trdman50 that movie is called "The Last Airbender" google it to know the specifics

  • I've hard that the script for it is terrible. Sorry.

  • darn i was hoping it would be awsome oh and sorry ryanhendrix i got them confused you can probibly see why thats an easy mistake but thanks for reminding me

  • What? THe movie is awesome.

  • Original? It's basically the plot of Dances with Wolves, The Last Samurai, etc..

  • @RoboPimp3000 but its not based off from any book, novel, or stuff like that. you try writing a story, and i promise you there will always be some other story that has the same similarity's, but its a matter of how you tell the story, not what the story is.

  • I loved dances with wolves.

  • I'm very excited to see this movie! it looks like finally someone is making movies that are actually meaningful and have substance, unlike most movies now that cater to the millions of screaming 13 year olds in the world. I can't wait to see Avatar! :D

  • Side note: exoskeleton goes on the outside, endoskeleton goes on the inside.

  • im going to see it on the 16th!

  • imi going to see it on the 18th!

james my man you did it again!

  • What are you fucking serious? Hack.

  • this will be a landmark film

    can't wait to see it

  • I will see it on 19 December

  • Watching Avatar this coming Thursday. :) That was the earliest that I could book. Can't wait.

  • avatar looks good. damn good

  • the na'vi version of sam worthington looks like adebayor

  • I can't wait to see Avatar and this preview review or something of yours .. i think it's the best video i have ever seen on youtube :))

    really

Congrats and long live good movies :X

  • I booked my ticket like 7 weeks ago to see it next weekend and I feel like a little child being taken to an amusement park next weekend and from the reviews so far am hearing now I will say I will likely see in Cinema like 2 or 3 times and am definitely definitely definitely buying limited edition or special edition blu ray the very second it comes out

  • it is a breath of fresh air to see originality and bold steps into the unknown, for me this film is like a documentary and even if it wasn't going to be a hit(which it seem it will be all on its own) i was already rooting for it because of all those qualities, I got everybody at my work place interested in it as well, constantly bickering about the technology, the time in conception, the morality in the story, goodness.

  • U r the man,I love ur analytical passion for Avatar and I agree with you 100%, I have being following this films development for about 3 years now in the days it was called Project 880 because cameron promised then that the film will be like being in a dream like state that remark caught my attention and also after many many many years of remakes, book, game, true life, and any shit that happen inspired movies coming out of all these lazy unadventurous scardy cats Directors.

  • Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie 89% 'Fresh' rating based on 38 reviews. so yeah...

  • YAY MOVIEPREVIEWCRITIC ( i wish I knew your name?)

    GO AVATAR

    Awesome director omg!!

  • this review just kissess the movies ass for 11 minutes and makes a life or death deal of making this moviw great. The moviw looks good, but the review pushes it completely over the top.

  • I know this reviewer is ass kissing this movie but it's true that movies now a days aren't original or have any depth in them. He is just supporting the ideas of original work and movie in the future shouldn't be all carbon copies of each other, after all too many remake of old movies and too many books becoming movies. It's kind of like there is no surprises.

  • Reviews are up. Apparently this movie rocks.

  • $300 million could feed a lot of people.

    The world is crazy.

  • Yu-huh. And it IS feeding a lot of people.

What? You don't appreciate the fact that studios are granting jobs to people? Stuff from set building, manual labour, artistic work... hell. Work is work, especially nowadays.

You think all that money went to making skin pores look real?

  • The budget for this film is over $300 million. The problem will be that it will have a strong opening weekend. But I can not see it making $200 million domestically. So international better pick up the slack.

  • While I guess it does seem like a half-interesting movie, one of the things going against it seems to be the design of the Na'Vi themselves. To the more cynical viewers this seems like "Furry Pocahantas" and will probably be the butt of a lot of jokes.

  • are you fucking high $200 million dollars theres never been movie that open that high and highist opening weeked was the dark knight at $159 million dollars and i'm predicting its going to open at $88 or $99 million dollars but $200 million you are to high and it might end up like watchmen have a big opening weeked and then comes down and the budget for this movie is $200-$220.

  • I think you're focusing on the fact that it's Cameron too much. You mentioned how it has no big-name starpower, but that's all you're going on is the director credit.

It looks interesting but I can sum this movie up in five words:

    Dances with Wolves in Space

  • it's funny you say that - when i first saw the trailer i thought it was a bit like the story of native americans, people come and drive them out of their land but they fight back.

I've never seen dances with wolves, but i know what its about :)

  • SEE AVATAR MOVIE! IT IS VITAL THAT WE SPREAD THE WORD OUT!! well, All I have to say is watch at 9:08 and thats the exact thing I say too.

  • I agree with most of that except that you sais that "an incovenient truth" has heart?

Almost 90% percent of that movie is false information and was made to soley get money and also, the story in not origional nor has any story been origional since 500 A.D.

  • And don't oversell it bf it even comes out--if it sucks, it shouldn't be a hit. And easy with the 'supporting the brave artist' mantra, you're not talking about some new, independent studio, it's James Cameron. He could pitch dog poo and get a blank check.

    Yes, we have forgotten.

  • lol the dirtiest word in hollywood.ORIGINAL..good one sir..even though the look of this movie is original the story is not or have we all forgotten about America's dirty history

  • gonna watch this movie..

  • It's not really an original story. Doesn't anyone recognize the storyline? It's a sci-fi retelling of the Jamestown Colony story--Pocahontas & John Smith. But then again, what stories are really original?
