Dont use the spoon when eating spaghetti to help you wrap the pasta. It is considered bad form. Spaghetti should be eaten with the fork only.

In some countries you might get a spoon - but this is not correct form even if it is very common in that country.

Italians used to give the tourists a spoon because they where to stupid to do it the correct way!

there is no proper way on how u "should" eat spaghetti. u can eat it anyway u want. the main goal at the end of dinmer is to make sure u got it all in ur stomach.. since its too long. i snap it in half before putting it in the pot to cook so i dont have to do that thriwling or some stupid dumb ass shit lol

In Italy , when you have "official" lunches at chic restaurant, you are supposed to use fork&spoon to eat spaghetti. Gentlemen usually do it at home as well. But 99% of cases common people use fork only. In any case, the man in this vid twirls properly..

Spoon? Are you serious? If you know the italian "galateo" (etiquette) you must NEVER use a spoon to eat spaghetti. You have to roll them with your fork and without making noise by rubbing the fork on your plate. No knife, no spoon. Just a fork. Btw, this is the ITALIAN "galateo": in other counties such us UK you have to use your spoon. But definitely not in Italy.

And if you see a spoon in a chic resturant it's because they want you to feel comfortable. When I go to a resturant here in Italy you can clearly distinguish a foreigner by the use of the spoon.

I'm born in Australian but my Italian family taught me when I was young to use a fork against the plate. Although watching this, a spoon seems to give a cleaner package on the fork. I might try a spoon next time then!

I've been to Italy and the real way is to use your fork up against the plate and twirl, but the Italian-American (my way) is to twirl with a spoon, never eat it with just a fork.

I've never seen in Italy anybody eating spaghetti with a spoon, the only person I've seen actually doing it was Robert de Niro in one the gangster films, he plays the early 1900-s uneducated ordinary man who doesn't have that particular table manners, it's like my grandmother who poured coffee on the small plate and slurped it from there- but really, eating spaghetti with a fork, there ain't no simpler thing, you just put the fork vertically towards the portion, turn it around a bit so, there.

Well, there are some people in Italy who eat spaghetti with a spoon, but it's a bit clumsy and not refined; you should eat spaghetti just with fork, turn it around the fork, it's simple, it's the way it should be eaten.
