Firstly, DADT has not in fact been repealed. Further, the fact remains that this is in fact an anti-military movement, and nothing more. Consider your previous post, the one indicating that no one would wish to serve with a Marine. I was in the military, and never encountered anyone like you (again, as stated in the video, which again makes me question whether you really watched it). This isn't just academic posturing.

If you served pre-DADT, you'd be interested to know that of the main players behind the creation of the policy - Sam Nunn, John Warner, Colin Powell, and Charlie Moskos - one is dead, and the other three have since declared reexamination is necessary. In other words, 1992 logic no longer applies.

Just for the record in my unit if there were any "gays", that would be rooted to several other psychological problems that the individual is dealing with and that would cause problems in performance and I don't want to fight next to a "guy" that is dealing with that. What is your source for that kind of information? I've heard many stories from gay soldiers who did quite well even with being "out" in their unit. I just don't get what is so threatening about a gay guy possibly eye-ing you if you are confident in your own sexualiy.

Homosexuality in the military has little to do with ones ability to perform their job. It is the fact that they fee they need special recognition for being gay. Flamboyancy in the ranks is the issue, concern that your co-worker is eyeing you, crap like that. I don't think the point is that they want special recognition. THe point is that they don't want to lose their job because of who they are. How is it fair that a straight man or woman can talk about their spouse of the opposite sex all they want, but a gay man or woman can't talk about their spouse of the same sex? And how fair is it, that if a gay person is injured or dies their sam sex partner isn't notified, and that their pension can't be transfered to the person they love?

I agree...to a point. Gays have always pushed the boundries on what is acceptable. There is one very important thing to remember about the "freaks"...they were the first ones that were brave enough in the early years to come out and say, "this is who I am" and chanlange the establishment. I highly doubt that the DADT policy will stay. There are so many people aggressively trying to get rid of it. Also, if any member of the Senate or House, or any of the presidential candidates were to support DADT as aggressively as the opposing team, they would sound like a bunch of pompous asses because there is absolutely NO positive view you can take on this stupid policy.
