  • I always think about the bowling alley where I used to be in a Saturday league as a kid. People would play this song a lot. Kind of fun to bowl when it was playing.

  • 32 years of pop muziC

  • I just love this song! It is so funky! Even though it was written in 1979, it sure could pass for an 80s song any day. It is close enough to 1980 anyways! :-) I miss Mtv and the 80s! No other time could match in any way the way this decade was! A time all its own and what a fun one it really was! Alot of fun and crazy times spent in the 80s for me! :-D Miss the 80s! :-(

  • I dont know why anybody hasnt made a parody of this song yet. This would be good for one of those.

  • Get it down...bitch

  • The girl is cute

  • Top of the line special effects for 1979

  • I wonder if Thomas Dolby helped to arrange this tune. It sounds like his style.

  • I was just going through all my 45s and came across this record. LOVE IT!!

  • A great song, with an '80's sound, that proves the sound began in the late '70's like Video Killed The Radio Star. Great music is great music, no matter which decade.

  • für 1979 soundmäßig eine Sensation!

  • The best commentary on the music industry EVER!!! Except the Beatles (George's) song "Only a Northern Song".

  • LoL -_-

  • this was really more early 80's dress than 70's. But the time this song hit the scene,1979, it was all 80's form there.

  • Well Bowie did Low in 77 I think that was sort of a turning point for synth. The Cure started in the late 70s. Michael Jacksons first solo work was in 79 as well.

  • am I the only one who is really confused as to why she is wearing a flight attendant suit? God I wish I lived in the 70's so I could dress like this, act a fool and get away with it.

  • @64g15csr Yeah I was excited about it but oddly enough also embarrassed to admit I bought it.

  • @64g15csr - coward!

  • Gotta love the lyrics. Sing it in the subway, shuffle with a shoeshine. mix me a Molatov i'm on the headline.

  • I Love the Song...

  • Great memories. :)

  • Phil Gould from Level 42 on drums!

  • @SIZZLEBIZZLE1982 yes. did you also know that it came out as a double grooved record? one groove had pop musik, and the other groove had M factor. which made playing it in clubs a real chore, unless you got the 12". all these years, i thought they were the first ones to try such a stunt, but i got corrected, as monty python had a '3 sided' album out in 73.

  • Great tune, why aren't there any more good tunes like this anymore?

  • @DarkMedievalTimes1 One word, money. Now a days it's too easy to "steal" music and copy it for yourself for free. Back then even marginal groups like "M" could make a decent amount of money from record and tape sales. While music piracy as always existed, it didn't really kick in until the early 1980's.

  • This sounds like Ghostbusters song :D

  • Eeek, you ever hear a song that gets stuck in your head; well this is that song!!!!

  • a couple a paralizers and this actually sounds not bad

  • Video killed the radio...er it killed pop music. hahah

  • the synthesizer in this is unique for its time and the lyrics are somewhat unusual and not quite what you'd expect from a pop song.

  • MTV was new.

  • im a black man from the hood, and its the first time i have heard this song and i like it...... is that weird? lol

  • I thought I was the only person who danced like that.

  • @MatthewDavidParr maybe nowadays xD i never see people dance anymore just grind

  • @MatthewDavidParr lol!!!!!!

  • @MatthewDavidParr 322,161 people do too.Shooby dooby dooby do wop.....

  • @MatthewDavidParr Nope...my 65 year old dad does too!

  • they just picked up a random flight attendant and asked her to sing...

  • Well, Blondie did rap the last verse of Rapture, but this was indeed released one and a half years later. And about the question which rap was first: I don't think this Popmusic song was meant as a rap, more just a talk-sung song. Also listen to Flash & The Pan's "Hey st. Peter" which was a hit two years earlier!

  • It was a german group?

  • @lys84 - No, Robin Scott is British...and he more did music producing stuff in the 80's and 90's, though has done a few live performances of "Pop Muzik" over the years (he's 64 now).

  • @xnonsuchx : ok thank's :)

  • @Madaluts6497

    Hehe, me to xD

But the Jedward version is better ;)

  • Well some music industry organizations do consider the short rap within that song as the first in a rap-lie style. They credit Blondie's Rapture for it. Personally, I wouldn't consider this song "rap" at all, but to each his or her own.

  • here because jedward .

    wanted to hear the original

  • The first rap song ever...

  • @attilaclark Rapture by Blondie came out just before this song - same year 1979

  • @Beadbud5000 Idon't know if I consider that song by blondie a rap song. She is actually singing in that song. Rap is just not quite singing. ALmost talking but not talking. You know what I mean. lOl

  • @Beadbud5000 -- Rapture was released in 1981.

  • Comment removed

  • @endorphinz Rapture by Blondie was released 10/1980 - number #1 in 1981, according to Wikipedia

  • @Beadbud5000 -- Either way, it wasn't released in 1979 lol...

  • @attilaclark Are you being funny. The first rap song was by Fatback Band and the Sugar hill Gang
