In Islam you can not get married until you have the consent of the groom and the bride. the parents have no say as to force or persuade their daughter to get married without their will.

THat was to show that he wasn't blood related to his adopted son to show that your adopted son doesn't constitute as your blood son so the clause of not marrying your son's wife only applies to blood children.
