@TaterGumfries If they performed it live they would probably sound like Chihuahuas in heat without the fancy recording equipment. I have no idea, this goes for any performer doing something live. It doesn't sound as good as the studio. I guess the recording studios can dub out the errors.
@slpplexi1969 I have heard some artists perform live and they sound different than in the studio. I am not questioning their talent because the performers manage to get recording contracts. It is hard to explain but I have been to a few concerts and the musicians don't sound like they did in the studios. I saw Jethro Tull in concert, They didn't sound as good live then in the studio.
@bakedsugarcookies They're going to sound different live than in the studio! They have different equipment and only one chance to get it right. But I'd prefer it to sound different, that's the whole point of a concert. They're just people, they aren't gods. If I want to hear the record, I'll listen to the record.
@slpplexi1969 You do have a point. Sometimes I like to listen to live performances but I guess it depends on the group or individual. Some performers sound better in studio then live in person. The other thing to consider is the band having different members or a different lead singer that makes a difference too.
I keep forgetting Jack Bruce sang most of their songs. This is a great classic. This is real music that too many people don't even know exists. All you got now is people who dress like their homeless screaming and not really able to play their instuments. Does anyone agree or do you hate me for saying this?
Yes TV Performance, but I think another reason was that the TV station would not able and had no money to prepare equipment for one of the loudest band in the world. They might scared that those things will blow up and smoke during the performance and seen by audience especially when Jack Bruce screaming!!!
You can hear Eric Clapton's guitar solo very clearly in this clip. It is usually somewhat buried in the background harmonies. It is one of the greatest guitar solos ever. Duane Allman said that it was his favorite Clapton solo. Clapton does create an other-worldy, alien type of sound. And the Marshall amps give Clapton a rich psychedelic sound. Everyone was copying Cream. But this is the original explosive, breakout single.
Just watched "Classic Albums: Cream" and Ginger Baker was saying Jack Bruce was always too LOUD. I can believe that. He was a good ass bass player though, but even Clapton said his hearing is ruined, as well as Ginger Baker. Ginger said he had to put tape on his fingers and palms too pound harder on the drums to hear himself against Jack Bruce...WOW....but I still LOVE cream..they were the best...
Never saw Cream but saw Jack Bruce solo in Theme from An Imaginary Western, in a small venue . his Bass & vocals were a driving force behind & in front of Cream.
Some nights, back then, we were listening to the Cream only and nothing else. Cream-Nights. Whenever I hear them now, the feeling is back.

Ginger Baker was the shit! Probably laughing at the ridiculousness of a drummer trying to sync up precisely with a recording!
