  • this is such a great idea....when i first swa it i thought jeez thats goona take a lot soil to fill them up....just love the idea you used to make it less deep..im in the middle of turning my garden in to a veggie patch and this is ideal for me...with a little help from my sons i can do this thanks and will subscribe

  • brilliant! Been making bed by tearing them up but this is perfect-- easy gardening on my BACK! thanks... now subscribed!

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Try using a cloth iron and aluminum foil and heat seal the PE to build up layers or repair leaks.

you might also put old plastic over the new plastic to protect it from the sun!

  • Man what is wrong with the comments on here.. foul language name calling.. Sheesh! Loved the idea.. this old 60 year old is thinking this is the ticket. Thanks!

  • @snaps81625 Thanks for the feedback. We love the raised beds!

  • Looks more like raised planter than raised bed.

  • Someone may have more info on this - I hope - but 'cinder' and concrete blocks may have (probably?) have toxins added to prevent/suppress mold, etc from growing on them (mercury?). Treated lumber had been shown to leach chemical preservatives into the soil which are taken up by the plants grown in beds made from it. Pallets from overseas are treated, to help prevent the introduction of plant pests & diseases. Not sure how to tell, or how long it might take for them to become 'safe'.

  • How many pallets were needed to make the 30 sq. ft. area that was filled with dirt?

  • Hey, just saw this and what a great idea. Wish I had room to do this. Maybe one day when I get some land. I'm 6'4" tall and I would LOVE to have something that high up and not stoop over! Thanks for the vid.

  • I love to recycle things! Thanks for the idea. Cool shirt, I love cows too.

  • Great idea! Thank you so much for sharing it. Best wishes to all of you.

  • Awesome! Thanks for this video! This would make gardening for older people like me much easier! And I love making things out of pallets!

  • im wondering how long those pallets will last. im building my beds out of concrete cinderblocks due to the fact i dont EVER wanna replace them. what's a thought on the longevity of these? 2-3 years? im thinking inside a greenhouse, i might get a few more years out of them.... nice videos, keep them coming. i will start posting on mine soon, and will compare notes. :)

  • great idea! great video! and i LOVED your t-shirt!

  • @ConcernedMushroom Thanks so much. (And love your user name.)

  • @ConcernedMushroom you fuckin son of a bitch so on the shirt is written u eat your mom(cow ) so think about what u wear and fuck off

  • @natharaja wow...do you kiss your mom with that foul mouth? did you know that use of foul language is a sign of a poor vocabulary, not to mention a deficient intellect? btw-you can't be so ignorant as to not realize that the majority of the western world consumes beef, can you? in the end we are all (homosapien, bovine, porcine, canine, etc) consumed by something my friend, don't let it be hate. Namaste ;)

  • @natharaja you need to be put over someone's lap and spanked kid. Oh and you need a language lesson or three.

  • @J3TPILOT1991 @natharaja is a pot smoking waste of oxygen incapable of intelligent thought therefore incapable of rudimentary communication beyond much more than grunting and obscenities. Best not to waste time on that troll.

  • @dontlikenumbers Hmm not sure I agree, I smoke Marijuana and love it (been smoking ever since I can remember). I agree that this guy is a waste of oxygen but before you start talking trash about "pot" I suggest you go do some research and find out just how stupid the remarks people make about this beautiful life bringing plant.

  • @J3TPILOT1991 I know plenty of people that do smoke pot, but are far from consumed by it like @natharaja is. If you look at that person's channel you can see that they have barely any interest beyond that. On aside, I think Marijuana should be legalized not only for smoking but for the value that hemp has in industry.

  • @warchild1976 We explained that in the text overlayed in the video (see marker 2:20.) We also said that in the description of the video, and in comments above.

  • You could totally have a chicken-run under the raised-beds! Wow : )

  • This video was amazing and I'll be honest form the shirt I was expecting something less but for that I apologize. I'm cheap as hell when I can be and I low how interesting it looks. If you add on PLEASE make another video doing everything from getting the pallets to filling in the dirt just to see exactly how it's done and make sure I don't skip needed steps

  • @ThreeEyedTeddyBear Your comment CRACKED me up. Lee is actually an engineer, but you'd never know it to look at him - and that's just the way he likes it.

He was planning to put up instructions on our website, but pallets vary so much, you kind of have to make it up as you go along. Hopefully, you won't have trouble finding good supplies!

  • what a great idea and appreciate the audio along with it.

  • awesome idea! thanks for sharing!!

  • This is amazing! Thanks so much for the idea. I suppose you could even go down a shelf or so to plant taller plants, eh? Gotta take this and run with it. Thanks again.Very creative.

  • @abuelita23xxx Yes. We went deeper for the plants that have deeper root systems. It worked amazingly-well for the vine plants, like cucumbers, melons and squash because they could spread down the sides.

  • Great idea - but I didn't see any info about drainage.

  • @4GreenEarth2 You need to either buy a perforated liner, or poke holes in the bottom yourself. We poked holes because we're thrifty.

  • I love this idea! It is just great!

  • @MIgardener Thanks!

  • great video.

  • Wow! What a great idea!

  • Our raised beds are doing AMAZINGLY well. In the 4 weeks since we planted, the garden has exploded. In two sections, we used fresh compost. We ran out of the "good stuff" and switched to a combination of soil and old barn compost. There was a crazy difference in growth. Check out the photos on our FB page: facebook.com/pages/Road-to-Simplicity/303189950282

  • brilliant! i was just fussing at my husband about how hard it is to garden on these old knees just last week! brilliant , i say again!

  • @babzc Thanks! We're very happy with how much easier they are than traditional gardens. It really doesn't seem like work...
