@paintedg0ddess yes you can. Add a little amount of pigment at a time. The more you add the longer it will take the acrylic to set. So just play around and you will find a good ratio.
It mixes better if you just close the container and shake. and also instead of eye-balling it you really should measure it in equal parts using measuring spoons. But make sure you only use those spoons for glitter and acrylic. LOL.... Just a little advice for future reference.... But great video BTW....
Nice, I live in Dominican Republic and never use glitter cus it is so expensive and didnt want to charge ppl more cus they dont pay the amount it is when buying the glitter acrilic, now I found a way to make it and do my nails on a low price .......u are awesome, keep cming the great tips, thanks!!!
I just want to make sure that I am properly understanding things, sorry for seeming dense.
When you make a solid color mix and apply, for instance, a drop to make a petal you should wait a bit longer then the glitter mixes to shape the petal or is the wait time the same? Maybe you were talking about the overall dry time. "-_-
@AngeChan224 lol don't apologize. I am glad to help. Now the dry time is longer than the glitter mixes, whether you're making flowers or just doing the tip of the nail. But when you make the colored acrylic you can add more acrylic powder and less color and that would speed up the drying process.
Oh I completely understand now. I probably will end up with more questions after I gather all my materials by the end of this month and start practicing. ^ - ^ Thank you so much for the help!
@AngeChan224 You can use pigments, loose eyeshadow or mineral pigments. You can find them in drugstores in the cosmetics section. They have all kinds of colors, shimmer or matte. Then you mix them just like the tut with glitter. The only thing is it takes a little longer for the acrylic to harden but you get great results. Thank you for the nice comment and thank you for watching.
@Bgonz10 Someone had left them up by the registers so i picked them up. I have no freakin idea were they are at in the store. I can't find them anywhere. when you ask for them they just send you over to where the storage crap is at. Sorry I couldn't help.
oh i almost forgot. i have another question: when using the sally's brand acrylic powder, do your nails ever turn yellow? because i started using that same brand, and my nails would turn yellow in a couple of days. so i switched brands and have had no problems with them turning yellow. ( i even made a video and uploaded it here). Oh, and i would like to see more nail vids from you, because your nails came out really pretty! BTW i subscribed to your channel!
@chiniriz1 I got the glitters from IMAts. It is a makeup tradeshow the have in PAsadena once a year. But you can get them online. Also about the acrylic yellowing, yes I have noticed that. After like a week my nails have a slight yellow tint to them. I don't know if it is the brand. Other times that I have had my nails proffesionally done the same thing would happen, so I just thought it was normal. I will get more info on the yellowing and see if it is something I am doing wrong.
@chiniriz1 By the way thanks for subscribing and as for uploading nail vids. I really want to post one. I will try to make a live tut the next time I do my nails.
Question for you....I recently started doing nails (well practicing at least & I am NOT a professional either) but I bought some glitter from Michaels (CRAFT STORE) and have the similar product from Sally's (Clear Acrylic) Now my question to you is, have you found that just regular craft glitter isn't really good for using with the Acrylic? I found that when i did mix the glitter and the acrylic the remaining acrylic and glitter got hard? what do i need to do differently?
@ElenaR2413 That seems strange for you acrylic to do that. I have used craft glitter for making acrylic glitters. I have even used larger glitter and it works just fine. Maybe you need to swipe your brush on the rim of the container to get rid of the excess liquid. Then dip your brush into your powder. Keep me informed on how it goes. I would relly like to help you with this problem. Thank you for the questions sweety.
@ennovystarsspell Thank you so much for your help!! I think thats what it was I didn't use ENOUGH clear acrylic. Another question for you though......I saw your container for mixing your acrylic powders that you said you purchased at walmart and I swear my fiance and I search the whole dang place to find that. Did you purchase it recently? or what section should i be looking in? I would show you the picture of the nail you helped me with. Let me know if you would like to see. Thank you again!
@ElenaR2413 I'm glad it worked out for you. About the containers I thought they were in the arts n craft section. But I found them up front by the registers. I guess someone changed their mind on buying them. I bought it a couple of months ago.
I will search for them too I need another one. If I find them before you do I could pick one up for you. I just wanna help you out. I would love to see a pic of t he nail you did.
@ennovystarsspell THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!!!! My email is Laniegirl2413@aol.com
I am so excited I have been doing a nail a night LOL Also my fiance purchased the practice hand for me (pretty cheap one from Sally's Beauty Supply) and I have one nail (THE PINKY) left to do. Do you know if you were to soak the nails off in Acetone does it ruin the Practice hand??? Thank you so much for all your help and if you do see that container please let me know and picking one up would be amazing too.
@ElenaR2413 That is so sweet that your fiance is so supportive of you. My hubby is that way too. I don't have a practive hand although I have been wanting to get one. My sisters and best friend all gave me hands to practice on. I want to post a vid of me doing nails, but I can't find the charger to my camera battery! Oh well. I emailed you, I can't wait to see the nails you did.
this is exactly how I do it, sometimes I do add a little extra acrylic but half and haf is just fine, as long as you always add more acrylic than glitter :)
@cuteglitternails I am gonna add some extra acrylic like you said. I did my nail with the glitter acrylic already but I noticed it wasn't quite right.
@luisbalma Thanks, I just did my nails with the bright yellow and I love them!! Also I just watched all your videos and subscribed to you. I love your nail art you are very talented.
