  • i have grave new world on lp good stuff

  • Rick Wakeman and Oliver Wakeman both have magical hands...!!!!:) and heaven knows who else in their family!!!:))))))

  • Though I love the inventiveness of the music they made later on, for sheer sonic gorgeousness it's hard to beat the early records with Tony Hooper. The purity of Hooper's voice blends perfectly with Cousins' eccentric, reedy sound.

  • The standup bass sounds awesome!

  • I absolutely love the Strawbs, this is fabulous, oh my god, so good, amazing.(I'm of again!...) they are excellent. Love them. Thank you for posting, brilliant.

  • This must just predate the Antiques and Curios live album, since Ron Chesterman is on bass and Hudson and Ford haven't joined yet, so it must be very, very soon after Wakeman joined.

Lovely gentle English folk from a band who went on to great things in the early 70s

  • Rozalandrew winchky and the omnitrollocks!

    Solar Winky!

    Space Bungle!

Top Ten and the Insulin Dependent Diabetics!

Colinandrew and his see through cat "Bowlnjer"

    Saint Vehicle!

Please hand me your Lollipop stick so I can stand it sideways!

    You Ewe!

    Catherine Parr or Jane Seymour!

These are all names I am considering for my solo Prog Rock concept album! Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • What the hell venue was this? A church hall??

  • The lead guitarist/singer looks like Ricky Gervais!

  • Could someone please tell the soundman to turn down that bass?

  • PIPPIN

  • My dad used to represent this band Cowbell agency booked all their tours in 60's and 70s

  • ouch! this is actually pretty awful when compared with the lp version. the chaps are off-key for siginificant portions, especially at the beginning. sorry...

  • Name a band that is good live compared with their album.

  • sigurth, I`ll be happy to do so:

    1) compare any track on "the who live at leeds" with the studio versions

    2) compare paul mccartney`s "maybe I`m amazed" on "wings over america" with the studio version

    3) compare any track on j geils band`s "full house - live" with the studio versions

    4) compare neil young`s live versions on "live rust" with the studio stuff

    etc.

...I could go on and on: there are literally dozens of phantastic live albums with superior versions of songs. hope this helps ;-)

  • Gentle Giant is good live as recorded.

  • Richard Hudson and I are not related!!!!

  • shit

  • richard hudson is my great uncle!

  • That is so awesome!

  • Thier 1969 self titled album and Dragonfly where amazing. thanks for posting this and for a person on myspace for reminding me of this band.

  • And you Tony!

  • Thanks a bloody million for posting this wonderful piece of history! God bless ya Cousins!!!!

  • I recorded this as a lad when it was broadcast and although I've listened to it many hundreds of times over the years, I never knew who it was. As a student I had the later Strawbs LPs but had no idea that this was the same group. What a joy to find out the truth!

  • Dave and the boys in GREAT harmonies!

  • Marvelous!!

  • I was at a Strawbs live concert in Watford, UK, 1970, at the end of the show one of the band members threw a tambourine in to the audience and I caught it, and I still have it.

Great vid, would be great to see a live vid of Witchwood. twiggy . c

  • Many thanks. Great video! Just got "Antiques" on CD and loved this period in Strawbs history.

  • The song is called "'til the sun comes shining through" and is taken from their second album "Dragonfly".

  • Many, many thanks from New Orleans

  • This video is wonderfull

  • I've been a fringe Strawbs fan for years. This song so resonates within me. Will someone please tell me the title as I will be most obliged?

  • Any idea what year this was first broadcast?

  • 1969

  • forever grateful for this video...

it is almost a healing for all wounds...

  • Yes Harry, and Dave Cousins should be made a "Freeman" of the London Borough of Hounslow where he lived for 9 years!

  • Cousins/Hooper recordings should be national treasures of Britain--and this is a particularly fine example. Beautiful work by Wakeman.

  • Grave new World was beautiful piece of vinyl, From the Witchwood , was i think their there best , let's not forget the track , Lady Fuschia,

  • This might have been filmed at the 'Two Brewers in Salford.

  • Brilliant! And.. Dave Cousins and Rick Wakeman played together on 20/4/7, along with Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk, to record live show for Planet Rock (easily found, listen live facility). Broadcast scheduled Sat 28/4/7 10am - 1pm (UK) or following week. First time these amazing musicians have played together since recording "Catherine Howard". Great listening - I know - I was lucky enough to be there for recording. DON'T MISS IT!

  • does anyone remember an album

    called "Grave New World"

I bought it on vinyl in England in 1983

never found it since I lost it

    drasticjasper

  • Great album it is pretty easily accesible today

  • I lost a first edition copy many moons ago and managed to purchase a replacement in a market in Brittany whilst on holidays. Love the album.

  • Wow...I feel old...the memories!!!

  • great video! This period of the Strawbs is fantastic, would love to see more from this time. Thanks for sharing this

  • This is SO awesome!! I first heard the Strawbs in the mid nineties and loved them ever since especially their acoustic stuff! What glorious vocals and harmonies, and what can one say about Rick Wakeman? How come today's music is so uninspiring? Would love to see a video of the Strawbs "Glimpse of Heaven"!!!

  • This must have been framed in 1968. I first saw them in west London around 1970 at Isleworth Polytechnic and the Bull in East Sheen, not forgetting the legendary White Bear in Hounslow.

  • This was the beginning of a wonderful era in music. So glad to have this video hanging around.

  • love this song

  • such a great group. My fav album was Grave New World, still play it a lot

  • Thanks, I had most of their albums back in the 70's!

  • Yes indeed it brings back memories

  • thank you,man.

  • Those were the days, my friend.
