This class of country is called "Outlaw Country..Red Dirt County..Texas Movement".. Tim is not country Gennings is the Texas, Red Dirt Country. These guys lile CCR, Houser, Shooter, Cooper, Crow, Drive By Truckers, Kid, ETc... are the new generation to keep the form, image and sound of what Cash, Hank, Christofferson, Waylon, Paycheck, Reed, and Willie alive for the next generation of listeners.
awesome man i seen ccr three times and soul gravy like 5. both awesome bands. theres alot of big alt country, jam bands, and string bands that are putting out great tunes.
bacame a fan of these guys after "soul gravy" came out. they dont get up to michigan much if ever until a couple months ago, i am a country music photographer and i shot pics of the show, hung out backstage and talked with these guys, they are not really country, closer to rock n roll, but if you understand the "red dirt" music scene from texas and oklahoma then you will see that they are country and rock, with a sound and sensibility that comes from that area. who needs nashville anyway.
They are rock, it just seems to me that they are true to themselves and their own particular style of rock, (they're not sellouts) and don't seem to let rec. exec's tell em how to write and play. Hopefully it stays that way. Once they write that one perfect song for the rock stations, they'll be set, Until then, the country sections not a bad place to be. At least if anything country fans are loyal. I ran out and bought thier cd, right after seeing them on "the edge of country"! Rock on CCR !
These guys freakin' rock!! Just because some people have never heard of them, doesnt mean they shouldnt be played on the radio!! HEY PD's...GIVE 'EM A CHANCE!!!
Maybe so, but this interview was in 2005 and I don't hear them on rock stations. I have heard them on the country stations here in Atlanta. You know how it is, the record label decides where to market records and traditional "rock radio" is dying.

They're not up-and-coming, and they're NOT pursuing country.
