I am curious about the concept of double infinity shot. What is "double infinity"? Seems like an oxymoron . . .
Sugimoto is among my favorites, and you are so right about seeing the "oceans" work on the wall! Can somebody post an answer to my question: what is double infinity and how does it apply to his architectural work?
@barkartDOTcom with the large format camera (5"x4" or 10"x8") the focusing is done by moving the lens forward or backwards so when you reach the point that the horizon is in focus that is the infinity. now you just calculate how far the lens is from the film and double that distance moving the lens forward.
@kenjiari Except, you'd be moving the lens "backward" (i.e., towards the film plane), as moving the lens forward (away from the film plane) brings the focus point closer.
