  • To all those who dislike the somewhat raspy sound of this exhaust; leaving the stock midpipe solves the problem. This is largely due to the fact that it is resonated. Add a resonator to the racing beat midpipe and the sound will be much smoother with little or no drop in performance. Furthermore, this exhaust now has the option of exchangeable silencers to adjust the sound level to your liking. My $.02 is now complete.

  • i was looking at this exhaust but but sounds stupid loud. i hate seeing those out there with a loud exhaust but are not going anywhere. does this make anymore power compared to racing beat?

  • @the80h I don't know if it makes any more power than a Racing Beat. I would imagine they make around the same amount... the only difference is sound and the fact that I spent $100 less. I love the RB exhaust... I just couldn't justify the price. Yes, the car is loud, but it's a sports car, what do you expect? Miatas are quick, so it's not like they're "not going anywhere." You just have to, you know, turn the steering wheel sometimes. Drive a few actual sports cars, you'll understand.

  • @drdriftphd yeah but i just dont want to be that one climbing a hill with my 1.6 with the exhaust screaming then a mini van passes me. that happens not hahaha.

  • Love those stripes.. where did you get them?

  • @MrConnorJordon Vinyl, $20. :D

  • @jdmpower86 you seriously call rice after the fact that your name is jdmpower? Very nice call man totally logical.

  • How much have you spent on this baby? Only on the outside; Paint job, rims, etc.

  • Too bad about the rasp.

  • Sounds pretty good. I'm not all for the stripes though.

  • rice

  • No not rice at all. A twin-cam 4 is going to sound a certain way regardless. I like it.

  • Grandfather just gave me a '90 that he fixed after paying $200 for it, the thing is in great condition and running beautifully, it has the DOHC on it and, it sounds alot like this video.

  • Sounds like he needs a better rez. That raspy noise in the high rpms makes it sound ricey. But when it idles, i like it!

  • rice taste good, i know.

honda civic is rice, not miata

  • I like Miatas and all but that does sound like rice

  • wtf that does not sound rice at all! i dont like racing stripes on them. sorry bro.

  • No offence, but it sounds like a chain saw! I have a 2003 with factory exhaust and would like to give it a deeper growl not a chain saw noise any suggestions?

  • Magnaflow makes really good exhaust systems that give a nice low hum. Its not an annoying hum. Easy simple installation, great warrenties, ect.

    -$tanley

  • too ricey sounding

  • the engine on the mx-5 is bullet-proof, what 154000, what 350,000 miles

  • just needs a little boost....:)

  • is this a good car to buy with 154,000 miles on it.

  • The Miata is a very durable and excellent car, even with higher miles on it. As long as someone takes good care of the car and performs the needed maintenance when it's due, then the car will last a very long time. Just make sure you check out trouble spots... valve cover gasket for oil leaks, CAS o ring for leaks, leaks in plastic top of the radiator, clutch performance, brakes, all that stuff.

  • is 250km still ok to buy, or is it pushing it, its a 1989 mx5, 250,000

  • Hey buddy, nice sound. Very nice sound! I have a 2001 N/A Miata with a Borla "Sport"

dual tip exhaust and a K&N CAI. I was looking into a Goodwin-Racing RoadsterSport mid-pipe

and a Jackson Racing 4-into-1 header to complete the exhaust. But i'm worried because my car sounds bad as hell right now and have been told by a number of people @ work that a header on my car would make it sound like "ass". Any suggestions?? Please reply, man! Thanks : )

  • hey, great info. but, are there any other trouble spots? my miata (1999) is acting up. i know there is a leak (seeping). but when i drive up to 2.7-3K rpm in 1st and 2nd gear, it kind of makes a knocking-ish sound. doesnt happen in 3rd and up though... and when i clutch in, it kind of makes a clunking noise... (a bit crunchy on the clutch too). any idea what the problem can be?

  • if the owner seems like an enthusiast chances are the car is in good shape..most miata drive train will easily do a full 200 000 miles without any hicups, as long as the car is maintained...that being said..i've seen a few that were beaten up quite badly with relatively low miles thanks to incumbent owners..u should inspect the car and its owner before u decide to make the investment.

  • my car has about 105K miles. its a 99 5spd. i think the last owner BEAT the crap out of the car. is it possible that my engine is failing? because, i can hear a rod-knocking-ish sound at 2.7-3K rpm in 1st and 2nd. not really on third and up though.

  • My 94 was doing a knocking noise on start-up, I bought some engine treatment (Rislone brand, yellow bottle) that took care of it, I think it was a sticky lifter.. I would do the same, its worth a shot!!

  • @phatso786 just curious did u ever end up buying a miata and if so what kinda mileage did it have and how reliable has it been ?

  • @ibanezmaster04 nope, didn't buy one.

  • thats a nice exhaust, those are so super hard and rare to find, i remember a while back good-win racing had 3 found in there warehouse and were sold with in a week, i see why, it sounds really clean, how big is the exhaust piping?

  • I believe the piping is around 2.25" to 2.75". It's definitely a good size to keep backpressure in the amount that's needed. It's been over a year since I bought the exhaust and it still sounds great.

  • Thanks... it does have a great tone. This is without the baffle. This is the RoadsterSport Race, not the RoadsterSport 3 that's available on Good-Win's website now, so it wasn't available with a baffle. I'm not sure how they compare. It's a loud exhaust, though. I mean, I've never set off car alarms and it's pretty quiet at idle, but you definitely get looks from people who know it isn't stock.

  • Don't be a douchebag. I posted this because when I was looking for an exhaust, sound was very important to me. As much as I would love just buying 10 different exhausts and comparing them all over the course of a few years, I found it a lot easier to listen to different exhaust videos online. I figure I should post mine to help out anyone who was going through what I was going through.

  • Intake/exhaust mods are the first mods that a lot of people start with, so more people are going to have stock cars when they're looking for exhausts anyway.

  • No one likes you

  • how much horse is that bad boy putting out?

  • lol like 130... but hey, if I wanted big horsepower from exhaust and intake combos I would have gotten a V8.

  • do you think the sound would differ much between the 1.6 and 1.8?

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure it sounds different, but I haven't heard one myself. There's a vid of the same exhaust on a 1.6 here: watch?v=l0DIaYMNFgc

  • I like it FUCK YOU HATERS and the "farty sound" shut up man...this is how real cars sound like, unles meybe yours sounds like its throwing up or moaning

any way man great exhaust i love it everythin scool and the car is amazing! keep up the good work

put an intake in like a fujita cold air, it will sound even better

    -arnak

  • one way to get rid of the farty sound is to reduce the tips diameter to the size of teh rest of the exhaust (assuming the exhaust is under 2.5 inches, in which case your screwed nomatter what) I know it sounds weird, but trust me, even just having too big of a tip can make farty exhaust sounds

  • Thanks, man. I didn't know that... I've always been concerned with the exhaust sounding like one of those $20 "eBay special" mufflers... you know, "titanium, carbon wrapped, 6" tip."

  • it's called a grocery store you freaking douchebag.

  • lol

  • great exhaust man!

i imported the exhaust from the us to the netherlands(where i live)...it costed me alot of money...

but with this exhaust and the turbo/intercooler i installed into my miata..its sounds incredible and goes fast !!

    its really a great car

  • Awesome... you should post a video some time. There are tons of great turbo Miatas on here. Wish I had a turbo. lol

  • i wish i had a video recorder thing....

the purchase of the turbo itself isnt that expensive...if you know how to install it,its much better...im saving for a better sound system.i will discribe my miata.

its red with white striping like yours.

its lowered.has oz superturismo gt rims.

same exhaust, turbo with intercooler, motor stage 2 tuned.2 sparco racing seats.

5 point safety belt.really a fun car,cuz i build i from scratch.i bought it with alot of body damage.

  • i liked this car

  • sounds great but i sell miata parts and if you need anything call 508 873 7314 thanks matt

  • I appreciate it. Doesn't hurt to have a few spares around and I always seem to find a couple new projects to take care of while I'm in the middle of another.

  • sounds good!

  • Thanks - it's a quality exhaust.

  • Is the the roadstersport exhaust or the roadstersport race exhaust?

  • my bad, didn't read caption
