  • you need to stick your kicks more man. Plus they look like they're roundhouses... AND they need to be higher.

  • Very nicely done form Fred.

By the way, thanks for taking the time to comment on one of my videos.

  • great sidekicks lol i haven't learned koryo yet i've learned 7 of the 8 teageuks but sidekick is my favorite kick because of it's power and so many people have bad sidekicks, but you don't. Everything looked powerful which is all i can really judge because i haven't learned koryo.

  • Is Koryo a system of forms or just one? My school is on the Chongi system but Koryo was really cool. My favorite one in Chongi is either Hwa-Rang or Yul-Kuk. But yours blows those out of the water!

  • i also practiced ITF forms and am planning on posting them... need to find time, though.

Koryo is one form. it is the 1st degree black belt form.

Hwa-Rang is awesome but my favorite ITF form (so far) is Gwang-Ge - another 1st degree BB form.

    my suggestion: learn them all!!

including the Pal-Gwe system that fell in disuse.

practicing forms increases your sharpness, coordination, concentration, muscle endurance and cardio-respiratory conditioning (try doing all of them continuously...)

  • I know about doing the forms continuously! That's one heck of a work out. We used to do them like that but we haven't done it for a long time. They also had the Pal-Gwe system at my school but they've gone to "fighting forms." But, what does ITF mean?

  • ITF = International TaeKwonDo Federation. basically General Hong Hi Choi started this Federation and the South Korean Government started WTF.

what are these "fighting forms" that you mentioned?

  • 9 move forms that have a kiat, then one kick and two punches to the left, repeat that over to the right, and end with three kicks and then a kiat. They get more complicated, add a kick or punch here and there, but that's what they are. I'm not a black belt (testing this Friday) but I know up to the third one! They're easy enough for a white belt to learn!

  • PART II by adding hip twist to kicks on can achieve more speed and kick several times in a row without losing balance. when it comes to my forms i try to exaggerate hip movement to make it more obvious that i am using it.

  • Not a criticism, just an observation. As I watch your form vs the WFT version on Youtube, unless I am mistaken, it appears to me that you make much more extensive use of your hips when you execute your techniques than the WFT video. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that you are using your hips to INITIATE your technique(s). The hip rotation you use reminds me of what I've seen by Tang Soo Do (Soo Bahk Do) stylists. Is this intentional, or perhaps I'm just wrong?

  • PART I power comes from the hips. arms and legs alone can only go so far. "dry" punches are nothing more than a slap. in order to carry true power, one must punch with hips, shoulders and arms. that also works for any other hand technique. not to mention kicks themselves. people who do not use their hips and cannot pivot on the standing foot when kicking do not add "extra" power and make it harder for themselves to keep balance and also risk knee injuries.

  • whatever i did... I'M SORRY!!!

please, have mercy on me, super-ninja!!!

  • really cool

i am a former TKD martial artist and so far 1st degree black belt is my goal.

can you post a video of you doing Tae Guk Oh Jang???

  • Great form.Nicely done. You are right about TKD being an true art not a "I-Kick-Ass-Do". Nicely said.I will use that line at my dojang.Anyone looking for a my Master-can-beat up-your-Master school should look at other forms of martial arts. The quiet beauty and inner strength of Tae Kwon Do is not your speed.Building your inner strength is just as important if not more important than just learning how to "kick ass".Forms demonstrate control, mental concentration and inner power.

  • i give this form an F. no ki op (there should be 2) and not too crisp.

  • thank you for your honesty and comment, WOO133.

i must apologize for no ki-hap but i was practicing alone inside this room at a gym in my town and was afraid that if i started yelling someone would call the police on me.

now, if you don't mind , i'd like to ask you to post a video of yourself doing the same form so that i can learn from you.

    thank you once again

  • That was the politest way of replying to something like that I've ever seen. Very classy.

  • You have good power and your technique is very good as well, I'm going to start copying the way you do your low knife hand block, the shoulder turn puts a lot of power behind it. My only suggestion is that you may want to work your sidekick more often.

  • omg dude you think you can do the form before this one? i haven't practice tkd in years cause of school and kinda forgot most of them >_>

  • i can do all WTF and all ITF forms (ITF up to Po-Eun)

i already recorded them but do not like the quality...

when i'm done re-recording all the forms i will post them all.

    GO BACK TO TKD!!

  • OMG I remeber that form a few years ago now I'm a third degree black belt but I still remember the good old times.....it was my favorite form....and still is

  • Good in all the textis there, but were is the aaaa coming down and at the end.

  • i just did this form for my test and ill get my black belt 1week from now

  • very nice power!

you did look down though but hey if I could put that kind of power into my koryo then who cares if I glance down at the ground

  • VERY nicely done! The only slight criticism I have is to be careful not to lead your punches by pulling back and then throwing the punch. Your kicks were outstanding!!

  • thanks to all of you who left comments here. i am not perfect and i accept criticism from anyone, more experienced than me or not.

i will leave all comments regardless of the criticism as long as it is respectful and constructive.

    NO PROVOCATIONS OF ANY KIND!!

    thank you

  • how about putting some of your own into it? its bland

  • PART 2

i respect the forms the way they are and try to learn them from my Korean instructors and emulate them in every aspect. they are men who have practiced their entire lives in the land where this martial art originated and i am nobody to change what has been successful for centuries.

you may consider the traditional forms lame... i consider them perfect the way they are.

  • PART 1

with all due respect for you and the type of martial art you may practice or believe in i will now leave my opinion...

Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art. these forms were either created or compiled by Gen Choi. i practice Tae Kwon Do and have no intention to start my own "i-kick-ass-Do" martial art.

  • As a Shotokan practitioner who has watched with sadness as our respective arts get muddled by MMA and UFC and all sorts of people who don't have the time or the patience for true study, I commend you on your outlook of the martial arts. I hope your training continues and you're able to pass on what you've learned to others.

  • Great form. Terrific power. Koryo is of my favorites. The only thing I might say that the very powerful kick looked a lot like dollyo chagi rather than yeop chagi, but it's only because I've gotten busted on that myself. Great poomse!

  • I have seen your koryo now go to youtube and see koryo vs koryo and tell me who wins the man or the girl.

  • it is ok and keep it up and good luck

  • very good one of the best we have seen keep it up. have a look at koryo vs koryo who wins thanks

  • I like your side kicks. They are the most crisp and clean I've ever seen in this form. Your uniform snaps, showing your technique and power. Excellent job. Keep up the good work. I'd like to refer some of my students to this video to see how this form SHOULD be done if it's okay.

    All the best.

  • thank you very much for the complments!!

as i mentioned before to another person i wasn't expecting to hear (read) anything good from anyone... was just killing some time posting the video.

you can refer it to anyone you want. i'll be more than happy to help out.

    thank you

  • Nice Form. I noticed no kiaps and you didnt look fully on your side kicks. There is a kiap on the third choke going down, and the last choke. Other than that, Nice job.

BTW i am a 3rd degree lol so im not some random critic. keep up the good work.

  • i was practicing by myself inside a room at a gym in my town...

was afraid of yelling and people calling the cops on me!!!

    :(

  • oh! lol i see. Well thats cool. i dont like the new WTF changes. the fast sides. I loved giong slow and sticking both kicks.

  • (PART 1)

    wow!!

i'm flattered by your comment. i wasn't expecting to hear anything good from anyone... believe it or not!!

just posted the form here for fun but i'm more than glad i can help.

  • Thank you!! I haven't practiced Tae Kwon Do for almost 15 years. I'm too old and round now to really restart but this was always my favorite form. Over the years I'd forgot most of the little movements but your brought it all back. Thanks again. Can't wait to get home and give it a shot again.

  • (PART 2)

i believe there is no such thing as "too old" or "too round" (laugh), though.

if you want it, you can get it.

just take the right steps and follow the "2P-rule": Patience and Persistence.

that's how i live my life. hope it brings you a different way of seeing things. we may not be able to change the world around us, but we can certainly change ourselves.

    peace!!

  • There is a 67 year old 2nd degree blk belt woman and a 56 year old year old 2nd degree male. Im a state champion 16 year old and they scare me. lol

  • Nice job, know any of the higher B.B. forms?

  • only koryo and kumgang.

i also know (from ITF) gwan-ge, gae bek and po-eun.

    i'm only a 2nd degree...

    :(

    but thanks for the comment!

  • Well is that snapping or is it, the floor... but it looks nice though Good job :-D

  • that's snapping, dude...

a good dobok does the job

  • :-) I got a good uniform, just need to get more confident and practice more

  • nice form. where did you learn and are you still training?

  • whazup?

    answering your questions:

i started practicing in rio de janeiro, brazil 16 years ago and now practice at Chungs Tae Kwon Do Academy in Nashua, New Hampshire. Master Chung actually taught me what i know today because when i left my old country i was only a blue belt and wasnt half as technical as i am today.

    tae kwon!!

  • nvm i just saw it again....sorry, its late and i'm half asleep . . . funny how i still remember exactly what the form is like but i can't see shit of whats in front of me...:)

  • you missed a kick after the double middle block before the pick up into a short step, your supposed to stay in long step with a double middle block and kick with the left leg thats in back then open hand block, and right hand grab, then pick up into short step and continue into your side l position with left hand open middle block, etc.

  • hihihihi que podre
