I didn't realise what this was about when I first heard it, but actually I don't think it matters. Disastrous love affair, genocide, destruction of the planet. It all applies.

This song is the defining song of this century so far. Best hope of amending our collective mistakes is through positive political action. Please consider joining the Green Party (as Karine has)
Wonderful. Songs like this don't come round often. Compelling, chilling. I saw Chris Woods a few days ago, who's worked with Karine, he has a powerful song about the same subject, the appaling death of Jean Charles De Menezes . A beautiful morning turns to state sanctioned death on the tube ... and no, it's not enough these days to say sorry ...
grevis020160 it says something about that event that at least three English songs have been written about it, this one, the one you mention and "Trains to Brazil" by Guillemots.
I had never heard of Karine Polwart until I saw her play live at a festival last weekend - I'm afraid I cried all the way through the set because her songs are SO beautiful!! thanks for posting this, great job with the video :-)
This song has been the inspiration for many of my scenes between my characters and I love it. She really has a beautiful voice and this song evokes so many emotions. Sorry sometimes truly is not enough.
Hi markb67, i agree Karine wrote a classic folk song with an uncompromising message which i feel demands that we use our powers of discretion and forethought before we act. I think that for a while it must've been close to videos regarding Jean Charles sad & untimely death and therefore the comment made by 1singularity. I guess really great songs do transcend their original roots to evoke something special, a deeper understanding, the story of our common bonds and losses. Thanks again :)
Tremendous track - just builds so majestically from humble beginnings. Almost like the dawning realisation of the singer that it really is not enough to say sorry. Wonderful.
Tragic loss of life, as in the heartbreaking case of Mr Menezes, is so hard to understand: i echo your words in extending wishes of peace and sympathy to Jean Charles family.
When i made this video, it was because i needed to strenghten my resistance to the dissembling oppresssion and control freakery around me... this sweet old world, too often troubled by fear and paranoia, can only be healed by LOVE, compassion and understanding. Thank you for your kind comment.

a great song that applies universally eg. war and economic greed in these days. May the family of Jean Charles De Menez find peace and closure
