@kevinmuise13 well obviously it doesnt get goals since holmstrom only got one goal all series. and ya, we snowed the goalie. we didnt get a penalty for it and it got inside the players heads. you could tell that detroit was just a pissed off team all series long. and just for the record, snowing the goalie isnt a penalty. in order for it to be a penalty, you have to touch the goalie. holmstrom got called for goalie interference at least twice.
@efrainthegreat snowing the goalie is not a penalty by itself, it would be considered unsportsmenlike conduct, and when a ref warns a player that he is going to get a penalty, the ref should follow through on that when he does it again. just because holmstrom isnt the one getting the goal, doesnt mean it dosnt get the team goals. if lidstrom takes a clapper from the point and it beats neimi because holmstrom is obstructing his view, that is getting a goal from it.

And for each of the Sharks' wins the Wings only lost by a one goal deficit. Maybe if the Sharks finished the Wings off sooner they would have had better luck in the Finals, just saying. The Sharks can't be considered anything that spectacular until they win the big one, but they have to get there first.

Well, I suppose we can agree to disagree. :) Don't get me wrong, I find Detroit fans very passionate, which I admire. However, there are very passionate fans in almost every city. I see the Red Wings becoming sort of the Yankees of baseball where everyone hates them because they just win all the time and they are never quite awful. This doesn't mean their fans are exempt from hating other teams though. I'm sure there is some rivalry team that Detroit crazy.. Colorado, perhaps?
I don't like the Yankee's comparison, but you are probably right on there. you know what tends to happen, lots of teams end up hating the wings, and it would require too much energy to hate them back. We also have Mickey Redmond calling games, he keeps a level head and perspective. there is a little disdain for Col, Dallas, Van, anaheim, but I think the key rival this year is Chicago.

@kevinmuise13 well obviously it doesnt get goals since holmstrom only got one goal all series. and ya, we snowed the goalie. we didnt get a penalty for it and it got inside the players heads. you could tell that detroit was just a pissed off team all series long. and just for the record, snowing the goalie isnt a penalty. in order for it to be a penalty, you have to touch the goalie. holmstrom got called for goalie interference at least twice.

@efrainthegreat snowing the goalie is not a penalty by itself, it would be considered unsportsmenlike conduct, and when a ref warns a player that he is going to get a penalty, the ref should follow through on that when he does it again. just because holmstrom isnt the one getting the goal, doesnt mean it dosnt get the team goals. if lidstrom takes a clapper from the point and it beats neimi because holmstrom is obstructing his view, that is getting a goal from it.

And for each of the Sharks' wins the Wings only lost by a one goal deficit. Maybe if the Sharks finished the Wings off sooner they would have had better luck in the Finals, just saying. The Sharks can't be considered anything that spectacular until they win the big one, but they have to get there first.

Well, I suppose we can agree to disagree. :) Don't get me wrong, I find Detroit fans very passionate, which I admire. However, there are very passionate fans in almost every city. I see the Red Wings becoming sort of the Yankees of baseball where everyone hates them because they just win all the time and they are never quite awful. This doesn't mean their fans are exempt from hating other teams though. I'm sure there is some rivalry team that Detroit crazy.. Colorado, perhaps?

I don't like the Yankee's comparison, but you are probably right on there. you know what tends to happen, lots of teams end up hating the wings, and it would require too much energy to hate them back. We also have Mickey Redmond calling games, he keeps a level head and perspective. there is a little disdain for Col, Dallas, Van, anaheim, but I think the key rival this year is Chicago.

I agree, it's very easy for lesser teams to hate the team on top, especially when the wings have been so dominant for so many years. Not having the energy to hate all those teams is a luxury most franchises are unfamiliar with. Being a Chicago fan myself, I think I enjoy Detroit-Chicago games because it's damn good hockey. I can't wait until Detroit gets their entire lineup back, that will be a great game, regardless of the outcome.

I agree 100% that Detroit vs Chicago will be a great game. This year's hawks remind me of the mid 90's wings with Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov, the othere Russians and the defensive core from Toronto.
Even though Chicago is Detroit's main rival, I really like the Hawks. I like the Sharks too, and they had Claude Lemeaux last year.

@Blackhawks4Life88 who said the hawks suck? Detroit is having a tough year, but I think it is safe to say neither the wings or the Hawks suck as bad as pittsburgh in the late 90s, chicago in the early 2000s, toronto now, etc.
The central division is the best hockey in the game. Chicago vs Detroit a few weeks ago was an awesome game. both are great teams.

Tippet took gretzky's job, but thats beside the point. The yotes have been questioned for their staying in phoenix for years now. If it was a "we want to keep a team in that city" bump, it woulda happened years ago.

I was talking with a guy named Phoenix earlier, perhaps this is a misunderstanding.
I have never had an issue with the coyotes except when jovocop injured Zetterberg in the last minute of a game they were losing. not a big deal. Phoenix is a great team with an arena in the wrong suburb.

I took that as a shot at the 'yotes, if i'm wrong, then I apologize. Phoenix has never had a problem with support, but more that people dont want to drive 2 hours to an f-ing rink on a weekday. They sign big contracts with TV and radio stations, but never seem to be able to fill the stadium

every hockey fan, wings fans included watching the pens win game 7. Detroit fans don't hate other teams because that is just petty. We enjoy greatness. Watching Staal and Kennedy was pretty cool. I'm certain Mallkin and Crosby are great judging by how much I hear about them, but they strike me as over rated. they probably rack up tons of points against weak opponents.
Staal is the man though. and last year (2008), Hossa was the best player in the finals.
