OH mymymy; by the time they finished teasing this guy he came out smelling like roses. lol Now they should have been shame to even put this on (mytube).
This portion is symbolic of what he will go through as he has picked up his cross.. Dang Im not even a christian and can see that.. Folks are so deep you cant find them.. Get it together ppl..
i understand why they do the whipping ceremony but i'd like to know why they used red and white roses. is it to symbolize red(the blood shed by Jesus) and white(the water that was shed from his body)???
We as believer's must understand what Christ did FOR us and IN us.... They are beating this man for what Jesus got beat for already...Because christ died. I can live. Because christ took my beating i don't have to take it... I don't understand why they beating this poor man lol
But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
Therefore, says the apostle, so that men would not perish, God now exhibits that which he promised from ancient time, that is to say, a way by which we may be instituted and saved before him without the law.
Thank G-D for the blood. It was never the job of the law to saved anyone, the law simply do now what it has always done "reveal sin" for by the law is the knowlege of sin, where there is no law there is no transgresion. Read James 2: 10-12 we will be judge by the LAW. We are not under the law, he is fallen from grace, we are just law abiding citizens.
Well, I am somewhat familiar with the Jewish Culture and this seems like utter foolishness. BUt I could be wrong. I am no putting them down. But Lord have mercy...something is off here...
Amen, thank you for sharing it. The cermony is beautiful! I had some insight already, but was willing to be taught more about it. After we are beaten, there is a sweet fragrance (a type of anointing) that comes as result of it. I could go on, but it is very beautiful to behold. THANK YOU! It may be foolish to some, but I understand the symbolism.
I never cease 2 be amazed by the ignorance of my fellow bro/sis; the symbolic ritual presented here symbolizes the beating Christ endured & the FACT that Ministers of the Gospel must be prepared 2 suffer the same attacks as Christ, from the world (help us Lord) & from the Church! Two biblical points to support my claim that some of the above comments are foolish: 1. "A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepth it till afterwards."Prov 29:11 2. "GET WISDOM, GET UNDERSTANDING:"Prov 4:5A
Yes it is, turkey for thanksgiving, brides dressed in white, fireworks on the 4th of July, reception following wedding, singing happy birthday, father's day, mother's day giving gifts, graduation ceromonies, watch night services, holiday celebrtions need I go on. Bless you now.
Is it biblical? What is the purpose? This is just my opinion and I don't want to offend a anyone but it looks stupid to the naked eye. Does it serve some type of spiritual significace? Maybe I'm missing something or I don't have the full understanding.
Well when you enter ministry you are, like Apostle Paul a slave of Christ. A real minister of the gospel is not his own, he has been bought with a price, that would make you a slave, if someone owns you. Sorry if your ministers are not slaves to christ.
The term "slave" infers that one's being held against his/her will. I'm not sure Christ FORCES anyone to do anything. Let's just stop all the tomfoolery! I don't know where y'all reincarnated this tradition from, but please, put it back...leave it alone--let it go.
Well, I don't know why this concerns you so much, However, we are not only slaves by submission, we are prisoners of CHIRST,read Eph3:1, 2nd Tim.1:8 and the list go's on. Most every prisoner that I know is kept against his/her will, that is why they lock them up. If you don't belive me, then belive the bible, if not then what can I say? I have more scriptures if you would like me to share them.

While I am indifferent on the performing of this ceremony, I must point out that your definition of "slave" is misleading. Merriam-Webster defines a slave as (1) one that is subservient to a dominating influence, or (2) a device (such as a printer or a computer) that is directly responsive to another. In this context, it's perfectly reasonable to refer to a minister as a "slave" of Christ. We must view all things with an objective, fair eye.
Sorry, but much of what occurs in churches all over the world is not directly "biblical". So that argument is questionable, at best. Why do many preachers wear collars, and many churchgoers suits and ties? People will do what is spiritually significant TO THEM; that is, what they have accepted to be significant. We shouldn't crucify them for that. If you don't deem it significant, then keep moving until you find something that is.
In all actuality, pontiff collars are worn in commemoration of the persecution of the early church. Many were beheaded for the gospel sakes, and to promulgate the gospel of Jesus Christ, many had metal bands placed around their necks. This was to protect their necks from the blade. As an aesthetic, white cloth was placed around this band of metal, that is why the collar has a stiffness to them. Every time a preacher wears it, he/she signifies that I am willing to give my neck for the gospel!
I agree with your comment and the symbolism of the collar and shirt (in the succeeding comment). However, my point is that the practice you mention is INTERPRETIVE, not positivistic. Because they do it to commemorate something does not make it definitive. I could say that wearing blue shoes symbolizes that I can walk on water. This doesn't make it so, or even valid. Nevertheless, I believe that we shouldn't condemn anyone's interpretation, as the commenter darrielb does above.

You're not the only one that's missing it. And the song in the background...yeah, it seems more suited for a plantation during slavery.
