  • DAMN...this shit still creeps me out 0_o..lolhahaha

  • OMG-I just started singing this in my head, AND YES I got all the words right. Loved going to the Super Saturday Show to watch the big film with 10p in my pocket. it was sixpence to get in with a programme on the film shown. Fruit salad for me, black jacks & pkt of a space invaders for kid bother and drink and we were happy as pigs... :) Good days, LOL.

  • I also watched this as a kid the head really freaked me out then he he he

  • this was shown at our local cinema before the main movie, which was generally the golden voyage of sinbad etc etc an orange mivvi and a big bag of mojos Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • This was a bit scary in 1975 or '76, now it looks like Cheech Marin's shrunken head had its own show....

  • ...Am I the only one that ISN'T disturbed by this?

  • @demonoftheblood13 no your not, my mom likes this :P

  • O_O

  • ......and my parents wondered why I had nightmares as a child growing up in the '70's

  • Saturday morning pictures lol scared the shit out of me to :)

  • ha ha ha ......me,my sister and brother used to go to the cinema on sat mornings to watch this....sure ours was free coz dont think my parents were rich enough to send all three of us........and when i mention this to anyone else they look at me gone out.........and i say you know....chico the head in the box...but still a vacant look............lmao...you aint lived if you aint seen chico!

  • dude i actually watched this as a kid and nobody ever heard of it, i wanted to cry during the whole minute and four seconds

  • @eezee83 This show is legendary. I was too young to watch it

  • Sponsored by a consortium of child psychologists, eager to drum up business.

  • Chico totally reminds me of Rudi van DiSarzio.

  • *blink blink blink* ... AAAAARRRGGHHH!

  • Wow, no one ever knew what i was talking about when i discussed this fron the cinema club . wot a blast from the past love it!

  • i remember this show and loved it.Was surprised to actually find it on here/

  • Futura

  • Not many people remember this but I love it.

Going the pictures when I was a kid love the song and have always remembered it

Put in in The charts Chico number one

  • You haven't lived until you've heard 500 children in a cinema cheer each week when this serial came on, and then sing at the top of their voices to the theme tune!

The end credits actually had the lyrics up on screen so that everybody could sing along...and then hico would say "I see you next weeeek!"

Alex (Cinema Manager and Showman 1979-2010)

  • i also remember singing this in the cinema back in the early 80s ....... i was surprized to see this vid on here.... great days

  • iv sang the chico theme to so many friends and they all lookd at me as tho im a complete nutjob lol now i have the proof he realy was real lol

  • Oh my God, I'm not crazy!! I've had that theme song in my head for YEARS and nobody else remembered the show...just looked at me like I was completely insane. Awesome!!

  • gee wiz i wasnt the only kid that was scared shitless of that thing

  • Why have Nickelodeon not remade this? Why are Old El Paso not using this guy to advertise their fajitas? An opportunity is being missed!

  • i used to watch it at sat morning pics at the classic in westcliff-scared me too!!

  • @TheJenn68

Oh dear, where oh where can Jenn68 have gone. My guess is either: Prison, where he is even now servicing all the black, asian and diseassed men he can. OR wandering the streets where he 'lives' offering himself to any man in sight for 5 cents. Hahaha...gone and forgotten you rasict scumbag!! *holds arms aloft in triumph over the maggot ridden body of jenn68*. Hahaha

  • @TheJenn68

    You've gone quiet MATE...

and no, im not a sick fuck; the question mark at the end makes it a question, not a statement

  • @TheJenn68

So you are saying there are no powerful 'brown fucks or...' in your country...erm, your president, remind me of his origins please MATE. How does it feel for a racist scumbag like you to be told what to do and when to do it by someone you profess to hate so much! I would say that is the ultimate irony (look it up mate, if you can find a dictionary in that illiterate shitehole you 'live' in) hahahahahaha...and no you still are not upsetting me, still find it really really funny :)

  • @TheJenn68

No - only trailer trash 'yanks' like you need to eat food after you have rectally ingested it. im not in the least bit surprised you cant understand me mate, i have been reading your 'words' for a few weeks and i get that you have a very poor understanding of language. Never mind, when your 'pa' lets you out of the cellar and stops abusing you maybe you could go to school?! just a thought )

  • @TheJenn68

and you still spelt 'boyfriend' wrong...you really are a retard aren't you!

  • @TheJenn68

Bangers and Mash is top top food by the way, with onion gravy. Hmmmm

Thanks for the thought, im going to have some now...ill probably just eat it though if its all the same to you :)

  • @TheJenn68

And you clearly do need a shrink...please please seek help because you really do need all the help you can get. Mummy obviously didnt love you (how could she?) , the fact that you pretend to be a woman suggests 'pa' took advantage of you and you really want him to carry on so many years later. In your trailer i imagine you have pictueres of men who remind you of that beautiful time in your life...how's that aim, close?!

Take care mate - speak to you in a couple of days no doubt :)

  • @TheJenn68

Dont need to, i told you 'to mate' means 'to fuck' ages ago; mate by itself is a term of endearment / abuse / what ever you want it to be dickhead. I only keep using it cos it seems to wind you up!

I dont drink warm beer, i like cold continental lager, and of course in america you dont have any hindu's arabs or anything else do you...you are all white yeah? I think you will find that there are is far more 'foreign trash' in your shitehole country than ours...and that includes you!

  • @TheJenn68

Nope - still laughing at you bollocks! Doesnt wind me up in the least that you are a sub-normal retard, think its really, really funny!

  • @TheJenn68 hey mate, I bet you don't do much mating yourself. _www.thejenn68islonely.hostoi.com

  • @TheJenn68

i think you have lost your 'fire' in the last few messages to be honest MATE, just not feeling like you mean it anymore...perhaps you have finally sought professional help for your epidemic level social problems and are even now face down on a carpet in some 'shrink's' office crying "mummy, muumy, why didnt you love me mummy"...oh well - its a start for you MATE! hahaha

  • @TheJenn68

cry?!...what because you have no friends...no, no i dont think so. In fact im not in the least bit surprised. I imagine if you had parents rather than a test tube they wouldnt even like you :)

  • @TheJenn68 _www.instantreconciliation.webatu.com/

  • @TheJenn68 oh and the reason i dont have friends on my profile is that i ONLY use this for telling utter cretuins like you what you are; i have REAL friends 'mate'; you know (well you dont) people to go to the pub with etc. You are sat in your tiny little room, spots all over your face, and your diseased mind trying desperately to impress people but failing time and again! Go outside and make some real friends, although i imagine that the reason you do this in the first place is cos you cant :)

  • Comment removed

  • @ogdroadsongs

not bothered about pissing him off at all, just replying to his inane bollocks is quite fun! Even if i thought about it very deeply i still wouldnt care what he thinks of it to be honest :)

But thanks for the advice :)

  • @TheJenn68

You're "a native retard"...an American Indian you mean...strange that you should be so racist really. Weird. Im not going to get into an our country is better than yours argument (but it is!!!) - i would rather be a racist fat ignorant moron like you than an American...wait...what am i saying...there is no difference.

And yes i do like curry, its very tasty - you should try eating something more than biscuits and gravy in your trailer 'maaaan'

  • @TheJenn68

  • @TheJenn68

Mate means the same everywhere you utter no-head. At least you are honest about being a bender 'mate', but still cant accept that you like black or asian men("pakkie" is spelt wrong...and im the retard?! Please at least go to school for one day). And all english men are 'fags' (you know that means cigarette here you stupid fat moronic waste of life?) are they...well ALL american immigrants (how doeds it feel to be one of those when you hate them!?) are english descended...hahahaha!

  • @TheJenn68

i know in your ideal world everyone would be gay so even a hideous excuse for humanity like you could possibly get laid...if someone were that desperate; but sorry im not gay mate!

  • @TheJenn68

is that it...!? And nah, i wont shut up while lazy, ignorant people like you feel the need to post utter bollocks :)

  • @TheJenn68 hahaha - that is the worst 'insult' i have ever read - you sad sad thing (i would say man but there is no way you qualify!!)

i have nothing more to add to my previous reply to you amigo, just feel rather sad thast you are so unhappy in your own skin...oh well, tough shit!

  • @iandear

Shut up you spic fag, go back to sucking off homeless niggers for cigarette butts you anal fungus. Ahd take the taco out of your ass Peeedrrooooo!

  • @TheJenn68

Hah -oh dear, still cant face the fact you are a homosexual who craves black men can you! I find your attempts at insults amusing more than anything, its truly sad that you are so unhappy with yourself. There is a solution you know...just come out the closet and i think you will be more at peace with yourself! It may also stop the racist names you use as that became passe about twenty years ago!! good luck explaining it to your 'parents' (your mum and dad are prob the same person)

  • @TheJenn68: Oh dear you appear to be a little brainless and confused; - a ‘man’ pretending to be a women like you can mean only one thing…closet gay. ‘Boyfriend’ is spelt wrong and someone as clearly gay as you should know that. Your disgust at your own homosexual feelings are as evident as the frustration you feel that your gay thoughts are all about black and Asian men doing you. Go see a doctor before you start killing rent boys where you ‘live’…

  • @iandear

You are partly right, I have had so much dick in me I would look like a porcupine if you turned me inside out. Now run along and go back to felching your horny uncle you prison prag.

  • @TheJenn68 Nice thought! ou can use mine if you like....!!

  • fuck - I was talking about this the other day and wasn't sure if I'd imagined it when I was a kid. I had to google it to make sure!

  • yeah saturday morning pictures ... happy days !... chico and the red hand gang

  • @the Jenn68:

Do us all a favour lady, go and get someone to teach you to read; i had nothing to add to the previous reply; with something new to read then that is different. are you following this or would you like me to write it in crayon? You are clearly an extremely sad individual who thinks lazy, racist slurs are funny; are you aware that YOU are 99% the same as a chimp?! To be fair the last reply was the best writing you have done so far, did you get a star from your remedial teacher?

  • oh my god@@@

yes i remember this at the cinema ona saturday

    i am 42 years old!!!!

why oh why did i just google CHICO THE RAINMAKER!!!!

  • @soulfromsunderland ......lol because like me you too are sad...........or maybe happy memories!

  • I never thought i would see this agian TY for posting.

  • Chapter arts, Cardiff every saturday morning. The memories!

  • D'ya know, for years I was convinced I'd dreamt this. All I could picture in my head was the image of a shrunken head, in a dark area, and a song about a rainmaker. Thank you!!!!!!! Oh and, weirdest programme EVER.

  • YES! This explains the dried apple head I made and kept in a box under my bed. Bring back the drugs and make TV interesting again.

  • omg i remember going to our local cinema as a kid on a saturday morning and watching this!!!

  • Our cinema showed this (and 2 1/2 years-worth of other CFF films) until mid-1996! Beat that!

  • One word....fuckin creeepy!!

  • @duknud i think you'll find 'fuckin creeepy' is 2 words !!

  • @alco1970 - Actually, neither is actually a real word, so were both wrong. But seeing as your quick to provide correction. How many words is "Limey cocksucker"?

Get a life you fucking retard!!!!

  • @duknud - such an intelligent and well thought out response. Your parents, should you know who they are, must be so proud.

  • Ahhh! Saturday morning Cinema show at the Portsmouth Odeon in the '70 - bliss!

  • My GOD....I've never forgotten that show (wonder WHY!)...or the catchy tune!!!

  • Does anyone remember Danny the Dragon from CFF same era?

  • yes used watch it at the matinee in the late 70s,the last centuary, lol

  • 30p for a corneto and sit back to watch a severed head in a box under the bed ...omg ..... the 70s were so great hahaha

  • Me and my brother had this inside joke. Sometimes he would stop in his pace, tilt his head from side to side and start singing chico the rain maker! we would crack up so hard. This show is so creepy.

  • oh wow, i watched this when i was a kid living in the UK, it was one of my faves...

I am now 40, living in Canada,

this has brought some memories back!!

  • I was just thinking about a show I watched or dreamt up in the mid-seventies and thought it might be on the internet. The only thing I could remember was Peanuts and Popcorn and that it was about a head in a box. What a mind fuck not only to find that it DID exist but that everyone else thought they had imagined it too!

  • PEANUTS AND POPCORN!!! That's what that show was called....wow.

  • Comment removed

  • this is the first time i have seen this since 1977! isn't there another line "how i like my funny name..."?

  • Super childhood memories!! :-D

    Brilliant!

  • I wish they'd release a DVD in English of this show...I remember it being a section of Peanuts and Popcorn on CBC in the seventies on Saturdays mornings.

  • Holy !!! thanks for the memories! I forgot about peanuts and popcorn! I used to watch this as a child in the seventies but I forgot it was on peanuts and popcorn.

  • we used to go to the saturday morning pics just to watch Chico the rainmaker! Both me and my sister cried when he turned into a dove at the end and flew away! Awesome!!

  • And we wonder why society in the UK has turned out disfunctional ??? Check this out - seriously scarey shit !!!

    A

  • This takes me way back to the days when i tried to make the rain by throwing my brother up in the air with a handful of chicken broth. He did'nt make any rain....just blood on the cement driveway. It was a mighty crush. I had dreams about chico shoveling my driveway when I was 10. It is little known that the voice of Chico is actually Abe Vigoda on heroin. He could really bang out that riff. Blow chow cowling rules the roost and coughs up mucus for Chico the head.

  • I know the Chico revamp is being voiced by Louis Anderson post gastric bypass with emphasis on Chico being not latino but possibly from the Serengeti. Wasn't your brother the lead singer of The Swoozie Kurtz Vag-Cheese incident. Romeo Potash

  • chico paca baca wanna make the rain

  • I haven't seen this in about 30 years!!!! WOW !!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING !!!!!!!

  • that song used 2 freak me out so much my brother sang it at nite an i wud cry haha i was only 3

  • I am so glad to have found this! that little head has haunted me forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you!

  • this was my absolute fave at the saturday matinee at monton in salford years ago, fantastic.

  • Someone please put this up as a torrent or something. The french DVD is very hard to find.

  • Yeah......Saturday mornings at Southampton Odean singing along to the Chico dude.Years later I married a girl called...Chiico...scary...

  • This is great! I used to TORMENT my sister with this song...We were terrified if that crazy head! Thank you!!!!

  • I can't believe I've found this. We used to go the 'Red Ace Club' every Saturday which showed CFF films and this was always on. I too have tried to convince people that this existed but couldn't get anyone to remember (even singing the catchy jingle)!! Thanks for the memories chico chico the rainmaker ...........

  • Amazing, I used to watch this at Saturday morning pictures sometime in the 70's and the theme song has stuck with me ever since.

  • WOW! I thought I would never come across this ever again. I was 4 years old when I saw this wild talking head. Where can I find a video or DVD of it? I would love to watch it again.

  • my older brother used to take me and my younger bro to the evington picture house in leicester when we were six or seven, this would be on before the main showing,me and my younger bro remembered it but my older bro reckons we imagined it!!can't wait to ring him in the morning!! lol,the picture house is now an asian residential home, families don't do enough together now!we're all still close.

  • Goodness, I haven't seen this since 1979. My sister, brother and I, use to go to Saturday morning cinema, and this use to play. My Brother & I were beginning to think we had imaginged it as we have never met about else who remembers it!!

  • same ere people think im mad when i mention chico wacka backa

  • hi me too, i'm french and i saw it when i was 6 but nobody else remembered it!

  • Our cinema used CFF films until 1996(!) - so I got to see this on a 2/3 year cycle over and over!

  • My brother used to watch this, whenever it came on i ran out of the room crying hahahaha he sared me...

  • If you want to see the whole show ,search in France for the DVD wich was released a few years ago but in very small quantities and only online via a website of fans for fans, yet the quality of this DVD is excellent and professionaly made, you can watch it in episodes like on TV, with original english and french versions, french only subtitles. The name is "Les amis de Chico" PAL zone 2. Good luck to find it !

  • i remember going to saturday morning pictures between about 1979-81 and seeing this . ive never met anyone whos heard of it or seen it and like mbss28 said u try explaining this show to anyone and they just think you are nuts. its only taken 27 years to prove its existance

  • Is this available anywhere on DVD?? We used to get up and watch this on "Peanuts and Popcorn" on CBC. I've never forgotten it!

  • I remember this at the saturday matinee, also danny the dragon and a program about a boy like a young robin hood against the saxons? any idea the name of said program.

  • Extraordinaire de revoir ce show ! je ne pensais jamais le revoir et personne de ma génération ne se souvenait de chico, je croyais devenir folle ! Trop génial !

  • yes this show has stuck with me for so long, never thought i'd ever see it again, very cool to know that chico was coming on each saturday morning, sure brings back a lot of good memories,i use to watch this show with my late bro, nothing but good times.

  • This show stuck in my head all my life, what memories this briings back. man, you can imagine the difficulty i have had trying to explain this show to people and they just looked at me like I was crazy!!!

Now I can finally show them...

I seem to recall that he was carried around in a box..wasn't he?

I wonder if there is a way to find an actual full episode and put it on youtube..hhmmm

  • Yeah!!! Chico for president!!! Oh wot memories. cheap admission, cheap crisps, cheap pop and cheap snogs!!! where have the saturday mornin flicks gone?

  • CHIIIIIIIIICO...... Ahhhhhhh this is so awesome - yellow badges, 10p tuck bags, peashooters and bullies on the back row - you took your life in your hands heading to Saturday Morning Pictures at the Stevenage ABC cinema back in the day, but Chico, The Boy with the Tiger T-Shirt and that stoopid silver ball from outer space made it all worthwhile :o)

    Thank you for posting this!

  • If only I'd known about LSD back then. Could have had a major enlightening experience watching oil bubbles swirl around the screen for 45 minutes before Chico came on. Mind you, the bubbles would have been nice, Chico on the other hand would have rendered me mungfroooon.

  • Thankyou!!! there was a time i thought i dremt this... and who could blame me :) Thanks for posting

  • Anyone know where I can download a torrent or individual files of this entire series...? Anyone care to upload or send me a copy? It's virtually impossible to find this legitimately. The fellow who posted this clip said he would send me a DVD-R, would he never followed through....

  • RGR That! I almost fell for it too! Have you found anything yet? If i find it i will let you know where. :)

  • Wow - thanks for posting this. I always talk about this show, except I always thought it was "Chico and the man", The episode where Chico gets trapped in a wheelbarrow is branded on my mind forever. I actually made a video recreating that sequence in art school. Any more?

  • Ok...you know this show really freaked you out when:

    I'm 35 years old now.

I was just about to add this to my favorites but then got creeped out at the idea of it being in my list. Man...what WERE they thinking when they made this show for kids!??

  • Wow...you know, there are so many of us who were traumatized by this show and the fact that we thought we had made it up. We should form a "Thank god Chico is actually real...wait a minute what the hell were the makers thinking?!?" support group.

  • Good grief! I have been vindicated! For 35 years I thought I imagined it all! People have looked at me with suspicion whenever I have mentioned this very disturbing but ultimately addictive show. Were all the shows from this period made by crack addicts? Check out Puff 'N'Stuff too...

  • I love your comical entry. I can totally relate.

People were horrified when I told them about this show that I watched as a child!!!!!...hahahahha

  • Thanks!! I too have asked people if they remember this weird show (the 2 little kids who play the recorder and drum, the Mexican head who talks about going back to "his people" and especially that tune that once heard is never forgotten) but I'm met with disbelief! I had no idea that was a puppet until today - I was positive it was an actor! I saw it on CBC when I was about 5!

  • I used to watch this on pbs ( 84- 85 when I was 4 years old) even though I was terrified of that tiny head! Several times over the years I have asked people about and not ONE person remembered it. I'm so glad I didn't make this up in my young brain. I had a dream about it last night and spent 30mins searching fo it. Long Live You Tube!

  • remember this from saturday moning cinema! 40 yrs old now but for some reason have never fogotten the words to the song.probably because we all loved the show,it was very popular.oh to be that age again!

  • merci beaucoup , il y avait + de 20ans que j'avais perdue de mon esprit "TCHICO" , ho my god! many thank's

  • Jesus. I thought I had dreamt this. I actually saw a trailer for this at a Saturday morning cinema show with my dad about 30 years ago. All I remembered was a dis-embodied head with a mexican accent. Oh my god! Great posting! Thanks

  • I thought I was the only one who saw this on TV...everyone looks at me like I'm on crack!

  • Was it on TV as well then?? I used to watch it at Saturday morning pictures.

    Never forgotton :-)

  • Every time I asked people if they remembered that PBS show with the shrunken head, they looked at me like I was cracked out. Now...they'll know Im not crazy. ha. Thanks for posting this.

  • This is what lead to the worldwide criminalization of LSD. Thanks, Chico!

  • Oh wow. Who came up with THAT premise for a kids' show.

  • omg all my worst nightmares are back with this video !!!! thought I was the only one to watch this program, back here in Europe, -+ 30 years ago..This scared the shit out of me, but even so, the lil song keep on singing in my head from time to time, since then ..chico,chico... ...chico,chico

  • this freaks me out a lot

  • This is why I still today, cannot open the closet at night...I watched this when I was younger on PBS and my brother would scare the hell out of me..."Chico...Chicooo"...Damaged me for life!!

  • LooooooooL !

Welcome to the club, I really thought I was the only one so think so...

  • NOOOO!!!!! My nightmares have returned. Scariest programme ever. How did they get away with it?

  • I too remember this from Saturday morning pictures. Don't remember any of the story, but remember the theme tune and that head! Great to see this again, cheers.

  • I'm nearly 39 and i can remember watching this at the cinema on a Saturaday afternoon. I can't remember too much of the story though. Have ya got any more clips to add?

  • brilliant, i remember this when i was small, just ordered the dvd in from america :D

  • Where did you order it from i would like to get a copy myself

  • sweet i remember this show i loved it what episode was it that chico is inside the football (soccer) ball.I want more!!!! good job.

  • oh man. this is one of my earliest memories of television or cinema. I am 35 years old and all I could remember was a show or movie about these two kids who go to a second hand or antique shop and find a shrunken head with magical powers. I thought I was dreaming it until I found out it was a real show and now this video.
