@raymondcrooke Ooh, don't tempt me. Have you done Robin was a roving boy? Or young waters? Or Bonny May or Queen of Hearts? Or Three Little Babes? Would love to hear your rendition of those. Will go checking your link to see if you have. Thanks so much for this.
@scifiwritir I just realised - "Three Little Babes" is a variation on "The Wife of Usher's Well" (Child #79) which I have done here: /watch?v=oB1Q5kSXxlw
Several years ago,I had written an in-depth article for the university journal concerning the origins of songs and of their subsequent assorted derivatives. A great portion of that article contained a focus on 'Waly Waly' as a prime example of how a song is digested and carried on. Your sterling interpretation combined with your impeccable side notes are appreciated more than you will ever know.
That sounds like an interesting article, Max. There seems to be some controversy about the relationship between this song and the better known "cockle shells" version of "Waly Waly".
Believe it or not, in recent years this tune has been used for When I Survey The Wondrous Cross.

Lovely song, very well done. I hadn't realized the controversy about the two songs, it's very interesting reading. Thank you :)
