People need to know that at the civilian level there was never animosity between the Sinhalese and Tamils in Sri Lanka. My parents grew up in Sri Lanka and saw the government attacks on the innocent Tamils because of the Tamil Tigers. LTTE liked this and hid behind it. Tamils, Sinhalese and even the smaller Muslim population lived in peace in Sri Lanka and now they can once again do so. I just hate how a government or nasty party of people can reflect a perception onto an entire population.

@iloveken222 I read the article. It's resentful, envious and treacherous. Obviously M.I.A. did not know what she was getting into. I suppose, being the smart woman she is, she expected the system to bite her back but didn't expect it to be the NYT. I personally would have reacted the same way and at least make the bitch suffer for a day. Childish? Maybe, but that's a point of view. I looked into the whole NY Times events and she is speaking truth and I think she did the right thing, go M.I.A.! Standing up for the people (i.e. Sri Lanka, Tamils, censorship of artists and other people) and her own self as well- great to see a young woman in music who is strong and doesn't take crap like we as girls are taught all our lives we are just supposed to smile and look pretty not speak out. I don't see hardly anyone this bold, any gender or race. Thank you, Maya! :)
