"Liquid Armor" is better and can buy all the chemicals you need off of Ebay. Soft Kevlar into Semi hard armor for dirt cheap compaired too the price of plates.
Soaking your kevlar in shear thickening fluids is a revolution in armor.
Research it, there are lots of video's and news reports/articles.
Everyone can do this, its easy. Imagine hidden level 3 armor on you at all times in states its legal too.
That was not dragon skin and dragon skin will stop a .308 easy. u need something much bigger and a lot of u.s army personal are going against the ban on the stuff and buying it personally and using it in the field because it just a hell of a lot better then everything else
... why did it not show the supposed "no penetration"? cause to me, that kind of reeks of lie... there is no reason why it did not show if it had zero penetration
this video shows no proof of "NO PENETRATIONS" i know exactly what the 7.62x51mm cartridge fired from a G3A3 can do. you can shoot a guy hiding behind a tree, and the bullet will go on to hit another tree.
@al3xt3hl0nly Nope, not dragonskin! And definetely NOT a 7.62, gonna need something way bigger to penetrate this stuff! Your knowledge is not as up to scratch as you claim it to be!
Depends on the weapon and the shooter. Does one aim for the legs inside a house with a shotgun? Does one aim for the legs outside in heavy brush with a rifle?
@RCinPAWA If you had any experience with guns outside of videogames you wouldent be making that statement, but then again, you dont have any, "real" guns anyway.
a 7.62 bullet hitting a vest panel would be like getting punched. either. no softly though. Muzzle energy of a 7.62x39 round is 2010 joules (and deccelarates as soon as its left the barrel) and a boxers punch is 1000+ (some quick google research, i might be wrong) but the panels have more contact surface area than a fist, so they would do about the same damage. it would be like getting punched pretty hard. which shouldnt kill you. would hit a bit harder than the recoil against the firer.
i was using 7.62x39 as an example, but yes. the 308 is more powerful. 2600 joules at muzzle velocity compared with the 2010 of the 7.62x39. it still isnt enough to kill anyone if the energy is spread over the surface area of a bulletproof panel. It would hurt like hell for sure and would definately bruise you, maybe brake a rib at worst. But it wouldnt kill you.
the energy carried by the bullet isnt too much, but when that total energy is concentrated into like, the diameter of 7.62mm for instance it penetrates the skin. but when it hits a panel that it doesnt travel through all the same energy is pushed against the human across the total area of the panel, which spreads it out reduces the energy/area ratio, making it too weak at any given point under that area to puncture a human.
"to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction"
the amount of energy carried by the bullet is the same as the total amount of energy pushing backwards as recoil. Except the stationary inertia of the gun, the spring spreading the energy out over time and the surface area of the buttplate mean it doesnt hurt the person firing.
so if a bullet hits a panel that spans your chest it would push you back only slightly more than the recoil of the gun when it fired.
The u.s. army denied buying them because the plates in the armor had trouble staying together in high heats such as heats found in Iraq. Can't use the armor if its falling apart
@francoisfaffasteyn Banned from use, not denied. And that was because Pinnacle was fraudulently labeling the armor as NIJ certified when it was not. The US Air Force brought a fraud case against Pinnacle for this as well. You don't label something as federally certified and try to pawn it off to the military when it is not. Pinnacle back-pedaled and removed the labeling until after they got their official certification.
this is SOV-1000 it wont stop AP rounds SOV-2000 won't stop to AP rounds SOV-3000 is linked with LEVEL 4 protection and LEVEL 5 protection basically when i say LEVEL 5 it can only stop 2 extra rounds Level 4 is what is mainly used the stops of MULTI rounds what has been said too stop 120+rounds VS the common level 4 plate that can only stop 6 BULLETS pinnacle armor is yet undefeated
and for people that have no knowledge the SOV is called Dragonskin and SOV has its own LEVELS non (NIJ)
And wht the hell don;t they issue this for the troops? I'd rather my tax dollers were going towards giving this to the grunts rather than an f22 that prob wont see any action. for at least 10 years.
the laser was not on the rifle becus it was a pointer used by another person to tell the shooter where to shoot on the armor vest. thats the answer to the conspiracy folks.
yea i also see no laser on the gun. Usually with Dragon Skin you can see the "scales" on it and i dont see anything remotely close. not only that but why would they play music on a demo of this. -.- pretty sure its not added in by the person that uploaded this. just sounds cheesy all around. im not saying its not Dragon Skin, but i am saying i highly doubt it.
i can't find the laser on the gun that he's using to aim on the dummy...and the camera crew is obviously in the pit with the dummy, isn't it dangerous to have people in there while you're shooting
on Futureweapons they shot all sorts of ammunition at the vest and at the end put a grenade under it and still no penetration. It really is good stuff. Its like scale shaped overlapping ceramic plates covered in kevlar and other stuff. I think law enforcement is still skeptical of using it though.
I dont think they have banned it, but its just too damn heavy. I think a vest is around 50 lbs. Then you add in all your other gear, and its just not gonna work.
If Pinnacle truly wants to sell its product it should use a real person for its test. All the hype surrounding this company smells like a rat and what smells like a rat is a rat. The future of body armor is not some slick marketing scheme highlighting some juvenile gimmick for high tech lizard scales. Right now the University of Cambridge is working on a nanotube fiber that should outperform all current body armor models. It's based on real physics and not some fantasy pseudo science.
Everyone aims for the chest at distances greater than about 21 yards. The head is too hard to hit, but closer than that, you could blow a guys heart out and he could reach you - my friend is a lieutenant in charge of training in the LASD, another is a former LCOL in Delta. Besides what you may believe, a headshot is not significantly more effective than a body shot. Sure, it'll kill them faster, but try fighting with a big-ass hole in your body. Kinda painful.

Notice that he spread his shots out and carefully avoided shooting the same area... why is this? A 30cal. MG round will likely hit within a 2 inch group of 3 rounds. This stuff is good, but it's not perfect. Also, as the previous commenter says, what about the concussion of the round? Keep in mind that concussion grenades kill by pressure alone, no penetration necessary.
It don't matter about penetration.. two three shots means assured unconsciousness or internal tear wounds..
