Pause at 3:55 ! She pulled some of the wall off with the tape! Just be neat and smooth with your caulk not sloppy like this lady. A good pointer is never take advise on caulking from someone who sits cross-legged or indian style while doing it!
I think most of the people posting here could do a better job WITHOUT the tape! I know I could. I have used tape (and blue painter's tape or the white wallpaper protection tape, not masking tape) for certain applications, but not for baseboards.
Keep a damp rag for wetting and wiping your finger and a couple of paper towels for excess.
This is way too much work. Run a bead of caulk, smooth it out with your finger, and keep a damp rag handy to clean up any mess(and for wiping your fingers!). It will look much crisper than this and will fill gaps better, as well. And for crying out loud, buy decent caulk. Don't buy it at the package stores. For this type of application, use something like Sherwin-Williams 850A. It won't crack later like that crappy DAP will, and it"ll run ya the same price - or even cheaper.
My experience would suggest that this is a great method for textured walls. It's dificult to use the old "wet finger" method to remove caulk from all the little pockets in a textured surface. For smooth surfaces I usually spray a little Windex on my finger and it makes for a very smooth line.
What a waste of time taping it

Thanks! But it still seems 'bumpy' when you took the tape off. Maybe need to push it more with the finger?
