Peter Green made so many great songs, as did Danny Kirwan. I hope they both are doing oké. I grew up with this music and man, it still moves me deep into my soul.
@thegunslingergurl You got me-completely turned the focus away from their origins-surprised they didn't change the name of the band-kind of wished they had in a way.......this music is captivating and true blues-awesome
love this version, thanks man..ive turned most of these into mp3s and put them on my ipod.its really great..i think how my life would be if i had never heard pg..i dont know how i couldve lived.i cant even listen to good rap music anymore cause it wont get me high like this does..again thanks.,adam
does anyone else think peter has the best voice of the 60's blues revival, guitar playing aside, his tone of voice is so soulful, people say he sound like otis rush is it?
It's not just Peter Green's minimalist's approach, it's also his genius for dynamics. Dynamics fall on deaf ears on most rock, and pop songwriters, but Peter Green understood the impact of touch. This is what made Pete Townshend, and the Who stand alone from the the c*ck rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, and The Stones. Listen to "If You Let Me Love You" from Boston Tea Party Vol. 3. It's on Youtube. This is why Peter Green is respected today.
MorroccoM13 - Couldn't agree more. PG had something that's really missing in many guitarists. I think it's called "timing" & "deftness of touch". He makes things come alive. Just out of this world
All of Peter's slow blues song do "soothe" the soul as a good blues song should do. His guitar playing and vocals whether minor, major, 1-4-5, 1-2-5-4 or whatever chord progression, he was a just such a master at it at such a young age. This dude gets it and has got it big time.
We need more stars- 5 is not enough! Totally brilliant!
Superb singing and guitar- and notice the incredible bass and drums- the band can drop to almost playing nothing, but the music still holds you rivetted. A classic performance.
And Peter Green was the best British blues singer of the 60's, as well as the best guitarist.
@Nosore Minimalist! I will use that often to describe Peter's playing! My fave guitarist. But, he did not play on "Without You"...that was Danny Kirwan all the way. And, one of the best songs Danny ever recorded...blues in a cave...
aaaahhhhh what i would do to have fleetwood mac, jimmi hendrix, bob marley, stevie wonder, peter frampton and similar artists back to bring the heart and soul of the people back into the world.
all peter green fans....there's got to be some vintage late sixties footage of him somewhere besides this paltry amount we have to settle for on youtube! where is it???
« Thank you for your video and lyrics.
I was immediately amazed by the depth of the melody and stripped illustration that accompanies it.
It is part of my « White And Black Blues » favorites.
Composed there are more than 40 years, the magic of this song as not aged and it deserves to be know more .

not that I don't like Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. But how the "F" did Fleetwood Mac turn from THIS to what it became.

Green had a knack for doing this. Someday a label will release a 2-CD set of his minimalist songs and market him as a singer-songwriter.
For further exploration:
Without You
Love That Burns
Out of Reach (A Hard Road)
Evil Woman (A Hard Road)
