Fantastic entry! I do agree about Clovefield, it's really such a great movie, The Host I really want to see it as well. My favorite has to be Gojira as well, like you mentioned, the theme of nuclear war holds up to this day. Hilarious imitation of Kumaga, good luck in the contest!

The Host is really good. You need to go into it expecting not the best movie ever, and you should really enjoy it. Most of the parallels that people draw between it and Cloverfield are similar to that of, say, Batman and Superman. Sure, same idea, but not too similar.
