I loved every last bit of it but 2:36 to 2:40. NEAR IS NOT AN UNORIGINAL DUM DUM! NEAR IS AMAZING! I HATE it when people hate Near. So WHAT if he was Mello's competition, it wasn't HIS fault that he was better on paper than Mello! And anyway, he said at the end that it would be best if they worked together! Just SHUSH! Near rocked and you people know it. He WASN'T a 'replacement L', and the only reason he was the detective at all was because KIRA KILLED HIM! Blame Raito, not Near! Near rocks!

I completly agree. Near is not an unoriginal dumb dumb, after all, you have to be pretty damned original to be able to think so far ahead as to switch the pages in BOTH notebooks. And he said in the end he and Mello could stand together and surpass L, which is so true! Near lacked the action and Mello lacked the calm, together they were better then L! Too bad Mello had such a big inferiority complex.

Actually, Mello and Near were better then L, obviously. Character-wise, I do prefer L, but Mello and Near are clearly better fui they were the ones to capture Kira. It was Mello's plan which led to Near's victory of Kira, which L had failed to do. Therefore, Mello and Near ARE better then L, but too bad they're two seperate characters.

And he ALMOST captured Kira as well, he just ran out of time because Kira killed him first! Raito never managed to kill Near and Mello, so yes, they defeated him. But that's because they had teamwork! Better is a relative term, anyway. Maybe they are better to you, but I think L's track record is a bit better than the two combined, don't you think?
