I've known for at least 20 years that Stravinsky was a genius, but this just confirmed it. How can something that looks so damned messed up sound so effing good!
I think what attracts me to this piece is that it is by no means beautiful... rather, it makes me feel several emotions one right after another, as if telling a story as background music for whatever tale it is trying to tell. Oddly enough, though, I can't picture exactly what the story is...
This is one of my favourite pieces of music ever. I think probably because I watched Fantasia when I was young so fell in love with it then. Not the best recording, of course, because it's midi. But a wonderful video because, again, it makes you appreciate just how much is going on in this piece.
I honestly, don't know why I love this!! I wonder if we share some type of similar genetics for capricious assertive music! at least I interpreted this song that way. I Don't understand why i like this?? Thanks alot!!
I easily get sucked into your pieces! u r rlly talented to be able to do dis. great talent! :)
this piece is rlly unique... it doesn't make much sense to me, but wen u put it like this to me, its startin to make a tiny bit of sense in my mind. :)
Fantastic. I have to ask, is this"as is written" from the original score? I hear more going on, and even some different notes, than I'm used to; but then, hearing it on vinyl, with lots of loud instruments is another ball game. I hear the original tempos were too fast for most orchestras to play (although it's been done). You got a great thing going here, I must say. Thanks for posting.
@realself1 Thanks! I also find that "electronic" realizations of certain classical works reveal more individual voices and figures than live recordings. Recording an orchestra will always weight certain instruments more than others, but with a version like this I can balance out the voices. Of course that may not be the intention of the composer but it's an interesting "x-ray" view imho...
@lvbandmore "It's an interesting x ray viwimho..."
Musically this sounds horrible, but I like your metaphor. This does indeed reveal voices and textures that an aesthetically potable rendition does not (rather like an x-ray of an Old Master painting).
Holy crap....what a trainwreck of a song!!! I wouldn't have thought there could be HORRIBLE classical music....but here it is.....p.s. my bone is with stravinsky not the person who posted it.
@LV07TSK You need to listen to an ACTUAL recording of the Rite of Spring before you denounce it on a crappy MIDI recording. If you saw Disney's Fantasia at any point of your life, I'm pretty sure you didn't say out right "This music is a train wreck." The whole dinosaur sequence has music from the Stravinsky's Rite.
P.S. It's not a song, it's a piece/composition/work (one of those three). Song implies that there is singing along with the music. There isn't any singing.
Trainwreck? This is considered one of the great works of genius ever conceived by human being. Go study your music and come back when you're ready to listen with open ears.
@dsadwarf I think if you go outside and try to make some friends instead of just whimpering at your computer screen then you will be a happier person. Your welcome.
@dsadwarf this guy probably took a lot of time to make this for us, so stop being such an ass. there are so many other recordings of this piece on youtube. if you don't like this one, find another one. nobody wants to read your ignorant comments

I can see why people rioted to this haha hearing this song back in the day where music all had to be one way would probably get some people pretty angry.
this is actually a pretty good representation of this song, can't say i'm a huge fan of the synthesizer or Stravinsky but this demonstrates how much of a nut he was.
@lvbandmore and @Soler4485 Look guys, I'm 13 and I think both of you are acting like little children. Yes, in some parts this video doesn't catch up with the music, but at least it presents the music in a clear way and it is easy to listen to. This piece, in my opinion, incorporates many different styles and rhythms that other composers were too afraid to compose. So thumb this beautiful work of art up, and smile guys :D
@DrsJorisSteenbakkers I don't mind the graphics, I think they help many who can't read get a better idea of what's going on - but how can they with that dreadful 'sound'?
This software can track an actual audio, though I think the labor is nightmarish intensive.
I've seen heard one of the Brahms C-minor piano quartet, andante - acoustic performance. This one sounds like and orchestra of kazoos made of rubber combs with tissue paper, and is less than funny or attractive.
This is actually fantastic. Obviously, for listening "pleasure" it's not on par with a symphonic performance, but I think it captures the essence of Stravinsky, choppy video and all. And the MIDI format and visualization taught me things about the piece that I wouldn't have gotten from a regular recording without a score in front of me (not that I'm all that good at reading scores). Great video!
Makes me feel uncomfortable. Reminds me of the kind of music you'd hear playing in the background while you're trapped inside alternate world, as if you were on Are You Afraid of the Dark?
@ThousandFarts it was actually written this way by a Russian composer every note is exact although i dislike the tonality Stravinsky would prolly like it
