@scoundrel555 You American's will find any excuse to make it your own wont u?? Sorry to dissapoint but this song is give ME hope.... U.S. might have to find another song to make ur own..... try Hotel California..
@retrogirl6661 : "You American's" - That is a very original thought you had there. It's almost amusing that the word 'us' makes you think of the USA. The term "You American's" tells US that the writer of the post is a fucking moron. Should you decide look up the word 'us' to learn about other ways that it's used, look up how and when to use an apostrophe for words that end with the letter 's'.
The strong attack the weak: the unborn and the infirmed. It's the way of elitists, of eugenicists, of Darwinists, of Luciferians, of central bankers.
George with Alvin Lee @ 1:04 Great friend's George played on Alvin's :The Road To Freedom" as Hari Georgeson also played slide on Alvin's great song "The Bluest Blues"
Great version, even if George´s voice was so hoarse in that moment. It´s useless to say the tour should have been delayed for a couple of weeks. Things were like this and that´s all. Anyway, it had to be great to be in those concerts in 1974. Me, I was 9 at that time and I was, could we say, in another planet.
@piggies1 Hey, where do you got the audio of this concert?? I really want download this gread recording, I downloaded the recording from the last concert of this tour in New York, sounds really bad! Nothing compare to this one! Thanks!
well done george John and Paul taught you well in songwriting skills and musicianship, who wouldnt be ok after hanging around lennon and Mccartney rubbed off well with george, he copied pauls vocal style with johns songwriting style
@scott29298 That's a pretty poor assessment - George obviously learned much about writing from L/M, but his vocal and songwriting style are wholly distinct. Listening to the early Beatles tapes, particularly the Decca tapes, it's clear George had a highly developed vocal style I would argue at that point moreso than Paul, who sounds a bit unnaturally forced while George's vocals are straight out the pocket.
His songs are unique - L/M never would have written them. He was on another plane.
@subg88 no very good assesment see john lennons interview about george, also george himself states john was a big influence, he would never admit about paul cause paul being such a perfectionist was quite critical of george at times this is seen in jam sessions you would be aware. But george did not have a strong voice at all compared to Macca, he had very average voice but was great in his own right,
First of all, you are misrepresenting Lennon's comments. He said he wrote "Do You Want to Know a Secret" in a limited range because George couldn't sing more than a few notes, at the time, but he goes on to say he became a much better singer. Even then its an untrue statement as there are many recordings of early Beatles tracks where George exhibits are greater range than Lennon describes.
The rest of your post does nothing for an argument that Harrison copied L and M styles.
@scott29298 you are to subjective and your bias for george gets in your way, if you dont believe me, ask George Martin about Harrisons weak voice. it is quite evident in this song he is just a singer. Look at harrisons song about john all those years ago to show how much he influenced George. you telling me Mccartney didnt as well, get real !!!!!!!!!!
@scott29298 I agree, george was not as good as john or paul at singing, however he was my absolute favourite beatle. I prefer his voice to the other two, I can't listen to paul on his solo stuff, not keen on johns solo work - the best singer in the beatles (paul) was the worst solo, and the worst in the beatles (george) was the best solo!
I never heard anything really about George and his touring around this time. I know he did a show with Bob Marley around this time,.. So how was it? Good vibe, the people, did he play lead guitar alot? lol sorry just like the info. Thanks
George got slammed in the reviews of the shows. He had recorded the Dark Horse album, strained his voice and his vocals were horrible. But, it was George and I would not have missed it. If you should ever get the chance to read Rolling Stones review of the tour, its scathingly ruthless and almost cruel.
@ beatler11...yes, that date is emblazoned in my brain. I was also at the Ft. Worth show! Poor George's throat had really been bothering him -- he did well to keep the show going!
Very cool. Must be off the board. Sounds great! I have the Philly stop on tape somewhere. I also made it to the last show at Madison Square as I wanted to see Ravi as well. John Lennon was asked what he thought of Harrison touring. Lennon's quote was, "George is gonna NEED a Dark Horse when he comes off this tour!" You didn't note that Billy Preston is singing back-up vocals on this tune! Don't know what Harison would have done without Billy on that tour! ok I'll shut up now.
was there ... in Phila. Some people couldn't get beyond his hoarse voice. Listen to that music! omg can't believe how good he was.. no clapton (as good as he is) meant that george's guitar -- especially on While My Guitar Gently weeps -- could really come through... and you could really feel how it was "meant to be" -- imho
The best version of 'Give Me Love' by George live on Youtube. Better than the '74 Madison Sq Garden and Live in Japan performance. Really nice interpretation with Indian flute. Voice is sounding good too...who says the '74 tour was a complete disaster?!!
Great line up!

The critics were all calling this "The Dark Hoarse Tour". It wasnt until much later I realised it was Tom Scott and the LA Express backing him up!
