Quite ggod for youth orchestra! Concerning the speed, I think it is good.

French baroq is something "brilliant", "joyfull" even, you are not suppose to play it as it is mostly played nowadays: pompeous and slowly.

I think it was played in excellent tempo ... reminds me of waiting for the New Years Concert from Vienna, this is how EXCELLENT this kids have played this.

Too rushed? Well that's really up to perfomer and audience at any given moment surely. No composer can dictate speed for all eternity - s/he can only ever stipulate preference - otherwise there's never room for artistic expression. Strings out of tune? Get real - I like a bit of "not quite sure" in the string section! This performance was indeed a little too fast for my personal preference but I applaud the performance, performers and instruments! Audience seemed to like it!

Miserable lot of contributors (I can't understand most of the comments not in English). I actually enjoyed the sound and HATE perfect music (if there is ever such a thing) - much prefer live performance and individual interpretation as well as willingness of instrumentalists to entertain us with their efforts. Big thank you to them...

I agree it was too fast and out of tune but you can't expect it to be perfect with a student orchestra. The timpani player might need to adjust his/her dynamics as well.

Check one of the recordings... check that building to the right ... 146 / Part 1 (Marc...), (sixth picture on the right)...they play fast, but very appropriate, in my opinion... of course when they are in tune... they sound wonderful, and the quality of recording is excellen... enjoy.

It's a youth orchestra! I have certainly heard better versions, but I have respect for their effort still. What is the alternative nowadays for young people? Playstation?
