  • btw. @ point 2 climate: there have been emigration waves caused by climate. German tribes even waged war against the roman empire to escape food shortage in northern europe at times - imho the colder climate in the north also triggered inventions of new techinques to survive the hostile environment.

    another point: historicaly, europe has been shaped by migration waves from the east and north, which also lead to a general militarisation of european tribes that lasted thousands of years...
