Somebody could be right at the tipping point of having her water break and still be allowed to get her "fetus" (i.e. grown, pain-sensing baby) removed and killed. The idea that putting late-term abortions off-limits (for non-medically related scenarios) is an assault on the personal liberties of women and young girls is not an incredibly convincing argument.

@WheresPoochie Here in Canada, the abortion rate has been dropping steadily since legalization (as well as the number of deaths from illegal abortion, of course. Clearly we are on a good path. A combination of sex education and free medical care (as well as a less demonized attitude towards abortion) leads to more knowledeable teens and young adults who can avoid unwanted pregnancies or receive help without fear of condemnation.

If you do not feel they are offering the extent of services you would like, then you have the ability to seek a company that will. I love Carlin and think he's hilarious even though I'm a christian and I'm pro-life. I've watched abortions on video, and they're pretty brutal. Somebody could be right at the tipping point of having her water break and still be allowed to get her "fetus" (i.e. grown, pain-sensing baby) removed and killed. The idea that putting late-term abortions off-limits (for non-medically related scenarios) is an assault on the personal liberties of women and young girls is not an incredibly convincing argument.

@WheresPoochie Here in Canada, the abortion rate has been dropping steadily since legalization (as well as the number of deaths from illegal abortion, of course. Clearly we are on a good path. A combination of sex education and free medical care (as well as a less demonized attitude towards abortion) leads to more knowledeable teens and young adults who can avoid unwanted pregnancies or receive help without fear of condemnation.

I wanted to say that it is not because there is no legislation that doctors would accept to do late abortions. Third trimester abortions are (in every case that I ever heard of, and I am tented to say always but I have to absolute proof of that) performed in case of genetic malformation or if the life of the mother is at risk (and the baby won't do well if the mother dies)

If you do not feel they are offering the extent of services you would like, then you have the ability to seek a company that will. The government can't force a private company to offer a service that they don't want to. Doing so inflates premiums, and makes insurance less affordable.

If we can accept the uglier aspects of human life like poverty, racism, and hurt feelings like grown adults and without turning into little Stalins why can't we deal with this issue like adults as well? Abortion is undoubtedly a very gruesome aspect of human life, but accepting the uglier parts of life without turning into Stalins is what FREEDOM is all about.

I love Carlin and think he's hilarious even though I'm a christian and I'm pro-life. I've watched abortions on video, and they're pretty brutal. I'm against the death penalty and basically killing another human being unless it's directly because of self-defense. I just think it's weird that Carlin talks about leaving nature alone in some places but he's totally cool with shoving a sharp rod in a womans vagina, cutting a fetus into pieces, and sucking it out with a vacuum to save a little money.
