I'm not a Celtic supporter, but our Scout hall was near Hampden and we sold pies at the big games. I got into the Celtic v Leeds Utd European Cup semi in 1970 by jumping the turnstiles as people were jumping them to get out. No idea what the crowd was, but well over 130,000. Got to the top of the north terracing just in time to see John Hughes' equaliser. Brilliant atmosphere, but zero crowd control.
to think the Great Jock Stein got eleven lads, all of them born whithin a few miles of the London Road in Glasgow and he took them to victory in Lisbon and another two very close calls in the European Cup.
That is a truly magnificent thing to do,also he didn't have the modern day luxury of being able to buy his way there.
Magnificent team
