  • Carps of one variety or another are eaten all over the world, including many predominantly Anglo-Saxon nations. Americans are the weird ones for not eating them.

  • they are tasty fish in china.

  • come up with a sport to kill them like bow fishing them carp and dont put a limit on them then the people will help control them

  • THUMBS UP IF U HATE YOUTUBE ADVERTISEMENT!!!!

  • poison..............wow

These fish cost mad in the market, why dont ya just catch em.

Threaten the industry? Instead of fighting against nature with our human will, why not change your industry to sell these fishes? Gosh

  • eat them! Why those fish are not problem in Asia?

  • capture them with nets and sale to asian countries. asians love fresh water fish...

  • Does it taste good?

  • @LinearBro yes! and poisoning them is a craime aganist humanity!

  • KILL THESE FISH!!! ALLOW FRESHWATER SPEARFISHING TO KILL THESE FISH!!!

  • 0:57, the greatest threat to the ecosystem spotted!

  • To some what diminish these foreign fish why not net’em by the ton and use them as fertilizers in America’s agriculture? Pay people $-dollars per pound to sell to processors who’ll process the fish into field fertilizers, then sell to the millions of farmers world wide?

  • Bear Grylls will tear these fishes up.

  • They dont bother to tell you that the poison killed over 250,000 pounds of fish and they only found one, yes one, asian carp in all the dead native fish.

  • @hoopnet892 yeah they killed every fish in an area about 1 millionth the size of the great lakes to protect them. I think they were focusing on the logic. this fish is like an atom bomb you only need a couple to whip out hundreds if not thousands of other species.

  • @gtq838 Much of the information out there about these fish is not totally correct. I live on, and commercial fish the Illinois River, I have lived at the center of the asian carp story since page 1. Yes these fish changed much about the river and fishing and we have had to adjust, but not all the change has been bad. I am on the river almost daily and they have not destroyed the ecosystem. As a matter of fact, the populations of fish that eat the small carp have been booming.

  • @hoopnet892 wheres your source?

  • @Ellen213113 My source is in my nets. I catch more and better looking catfish than I have in my life. We cant keep gamefish and have to turn them loose. It is unreal the number of walleye, bass, and other game fish I throw back weekley. Never seen these numbers of fish before until the asian carp. The catfish are full of small asian carp everytime. The carp have obviously taken the place of shad and other bait fish as the main food source of many fish on the river.

  • Never through you would join the military to fight fish...

  • I FUCKING LOVE video ads.

  • I THINK I KNOW HOW TO STOP THEM!!!!!

  • If they have no known predators, introduce alligator gar...they'll keep them in check.

  • interesting........these fish invaded in early 71-72...near the same time Nixon was visiting china setting up 30-50 year "trade" deals that have today rendered USA an obsolete manufacturing center and quite literaly a present and future day police state.

  • @MrHarry46 lol fuck politics man we just need to get rid of these invasive bastards! lets do it!

  • They need to bounty these fish and let the anglers take care of the problem it will also help sitmulate the ecomony fron start to finish from buying bait and tackle to start fishing then paying the angler who caught the fish so he/she spends the money then turn the fish into pet food and feterlizer but no they spend 10's of million on electric dams and poisions once the fish are gone the dam is usless and the poisions i dont even want to know the long term effects of that

  • @gr11919067 Except you can't catch them with a rod and reel...other than snagging which is highly ineffective. They eat particles down to four microns.

  • I don't understand how green peace and the media go apeshit about hardcore deep sea drift netting and all sorts of other fish devouring technology can't be applied. Here. I say drift net tons of these carp and make cat food out of them.

  • Asian carp have better taste and texture and less bones then salmon , trout , base , and better taste then cat fish ..they taste like Tilapia except much bigger and less bones .. in asian these fish sell higher price then other fishes.. if we develop economy value for these fishes.. they will be gone in no time... but once its gone fish farm will be start to farming them .. so either way .. they going to stay..

  • @superwhiz88

Absolutely! We need to start marketing these fish and incorporate it as part of the american diet. We american are too picky in eating fish, and that can't be good for the sustainability, seriously.

  • @raven1234 ,, marketing these fish as new seafood will solve the problem in no time..

  • Put a nickel on every fish and these fuckers will become extinct.

  • @thehilitereel you know commercial fishermen on the illinois river are getting 14 cents a pound? so they're getting way more then a nickel a fish, now they just need to start a market for it in china to start a large scale market and they'll be able to go full boom. I'm sure even fish food makers could grind them up whole and make loads of money too.

  • ad canceled

  • 46 LMAO!!!!!!

  • damn

  • Pay me to catch em! A piece of 5" 50 mesh, a 35ft bowrigger with a roller rig! I can thin em out! lol

  • Simple... nuclear weapons... problem solved

  • all they need to do is get some big nets and net them in the middle like in fish stock places and the make em into fish finger problem solved :D

  • eat it,

make it into birdeye fish fillet,

posioning and letting them rot seem a bit of a waste

  • great all we is more problems in lake erie >.>...i can see it already bye perch, crappie, walleye, and all are bait fish. A tear for all the sport/commercial fishing and let alone all the water sports like tubing, wake boarding, and shiing shit that would pretty much end boating fun.

  • QUICK! Someone call BP

  • @lawrencetimmons94 Lol that'll do it

  • carp is every where, it is strong as you think, it is not afaid of cold ,in amur river too.

  • i hate these things so much every time i catch one i pull it out and chuck his ass as far on land as i can

  • what happened to the sound!!!????

  • Hmm.... When Al Qaida starts attacing U.S. ecosystems via using foreign species?

  • This stuff is as serious as a heart attack. Perhaps worst of all--Asian carp prefer cold water like that found in the Great Lakes more than the warmer southern waters where they have proliferated. Can you imagine a world without sport fishing?

  • THIS IS A SIMPLE EXAMPLE OF ISLAM/MUSLIM DREAM OF WORLD DOMINATION....IF WE DON'T ACT SOON .........CANADA.... EUROPEAN UNION AND U.S. AMERICANS WILL BE RULED BY ISLAM......

  • woot nice idea

  • kill that fish.

  • hehe "poison" the canal ...much like they do in the tap water! with sodium fluoride, chlorine and a cocktail of deadly chemicals. welcome to america home of the fat poisoned dead at 50, 99% cancer rate population....all from your kitchen sink.

  • Col. Vincent looks like Deebo .

  • Harvest them and export as FOOD! to people that would be more than happy with a meal on the table....AFRICA, ASIA, RUSSIA, SOUTH AMERICA...

  • Fish racism, the new frontier.

  • @mogilny89p Lol if the fish were taking the food for the fish that were here first the fish that people eat fish for sport .. nobody wants a carp dude

  • People get basically what they deserve. When a "govenments" only answer to every "problem" is extermination, its time to get a new "government". You have some dude in military fatigues combating nature, does anyone else find the scary metaphor here? Some people eat more than others and drive them off their land, what should we do about them? Oh, right give them tax money.

  • Comment removed

  • i can barly hear a thing ther sayin.

  • This is a job for redneck gamefish mercenaries. Call them in. Call them in.

  • since boat engines make them jump have a bunch of boats tow a decent sized light weight tub and those that land in it put in meat grinders to make bait for crab fisherman like 'deadliest catch' and other commercial bait

  • inventing a shredder like, on top of a boat (like a paper shredder). Give them a good jolt. Who ever jumps in the boat is doooom!..

  • Poison? What a dump approach! Evidently there is no way to stop it, why do more damage to the river? The goal should be keeping them in balance in the ecosystem rather than extermination. The $10 million should have been spent on finding commercial use of the fish. Carps have been the most important fish in many Asian culture for thousands of years. Export back to Asia in various products for consumption, make it into fertilizers, animal feeds. And stop over fishing in the ocean.

  • This is like an eerie metaphor for the relationship between China and the U.S.

  • Here's how to fix this problem screw the poison, make it legal for all of us rednecks to take our shotguns, a few cases of shells, and a couple cases of beer out on our boats and we'd clean house. It would be so damn fun shooting em in mid air.

  • first the spread of Islam now asian carp

    We are DOOMED!

  • very bad idea poison kills everything ..... 10 mill 4 the electric fence y not use some of the money to pay 4 who ever brings in thses carp n pay them 4 it i bet thier be hunderds of peoples there trying to bring these fishes in .... aint people going to go fish 4 them as they not going eat them but get pay might just bring in hundreds of peoples there .......

  • This is horrible. They need to close the locks connecting all passages to Lake Michigan and solve this problem. An underwater electric barrier is NOT GOOD ENOUGH to protect one of the most unique ecosystems on the planet. poison is a start. FUCK these fish. not in my Great Lakes!

  • Those FREAKIN' Fish better stay away from OUR lakes!!!

  • Catch those carps and export them to China...we can cut our defict!

  • If Bush is still around, he'd declare War on Fish!

  • For those who dont want to eat them. Just kill the fishes and turn them into animal feed or fertilizer. At least theres money in it.

  • How about human being's invading and ruining every part of this planet?

  • While it may be too late for lake Michigan, other great lakes may be able to be saved if they set up a dam under the Mackinaw Bridge that separates lake Huron from lake Michigan. Try to watch those carp swim through concrete!

And to all those that think this is only a 'Michigan Problem', the Great Lakes affect New York, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Indiana, as well as our neighbors in Canada. I have eaten Asian Carp before, and its disgusting.

  • Unfortunately these carp taste terrible! They eat the food supply of the good-tasting fish.

  • 1. Obviously you need to do some research. These fish will ruin a 6 billion+ fishing industry (imagine what that will do to our economy)

    2. These fish are bottom feeders which means they will only be good for fertilizer at the most. They will be the ONLY fish in lake michigan after making it impossible for all other fish to survive.

  • heres an idea, lets EAT THE FUCKING FISH. secondly "imagine what that will do to our economy" big fucking deal rich ppl dont get there salmon for dinner, how will i live? eat a burger

  • @yuyumonk Do you not realize how nutritious salmon and trout are? They are one of the best fish you can eat. And when you say "eat a burger" I don't think you realize what a diference there is in proteins and nutrients in fish and burgers. Salmon is one of the best proteins your body can recieve. As for eating the asian carp, I encourage you to do some research on how "nutritious" they are for you.

  • you're a dumbass.

  • ya but if they get into oure waters they could still migrate into the southern parts

  • I guess we're gonna have to start eating Carp now.

  • I seriously dont understand this. If they have become to bad of a problem why don't they just completely poison every river that there in and kill everything. After all the fish are dead then re-introduce the native species. Sounds like a good idea to me. I would love to read others thoughts

  • We need to create a freshwater shark that only eats these carps.

  • I dread the day those carp make it into the great lakes. It's not just the fishing industry that will go downhill, but all boating on the great lakes, any businesses that are tied to the great lakes. Can you imagine being out on a ski do and having a 80-100 pound carp hit you in the face!

  • @huntfishnut Its already to late. They are in the Great Lakes. Another huge problem man creates from a stupid quick fix problem years ago. You would of thought someone would of said "is this a good idea putting these deadly fish here, what if they get cycled into rivers all through the country"

  • F**k you, Best Buy. Played my G** damned video already.

  • American do not like eating carp??

oh, what's a pity, carp is very delicious

    our chinese like it

  • You like eating rats, cats and dogs too.

  • It may be "delicious" but the trout and salmon we have at the moment are delicious AND good for you.

  • so wait nobody eat these things lol a 40-70 pound fish that deep well okay here I go with one more hit them with some high volta scoop them up sell them a chum

  • Lemons into lemonade? I'm sure these fish are edible to some life form on this earth. Why aren't they being harvested and turned into some food source, fish oil for vitamins, or at least fertilizer?

  • Way to go Townace I did see yours at first I just wrote some thing similar to yours but you are right.

  • I praise God in my heart for news of these great fish. Pestilence be multiplied to America! Let God's judgment fall upon America.

This nation has mocked the God that blessed it long ago. And now men still won't repent and obey the Lord. Instead they want to poison their own water even before the prophecies that will surely come to pass. The two witnesses shall have the power to shut heaven so that it rains not!

Droughts, pestilence and all manner of plagues be multiplied upon America!

  • your retarded

  • @vaperXaper i totally agree with you... hes retarded...

  • Thou are nutz...

  • how about this people I been thinking bout this from the first time I heard about it putting about 50 to a hundred gator or crocks in a area and let them go buck wild if it works you can tag them and retrive them afterwards what do you guys think.

  • if only they could survive in these cold waters

  • dam lol didnt think about that

  • u right i rather put more crocks in let them get then poision the whole damn canal and rivers taht lead to it

  • Yeah lol but I didn't know the water would be to cold for the Crocks hey seal could work if thats the case plus man anything is better then putting poisoning the water

  • i think it'd be too WARM for the seals LOL

  • lol man you can't win but Poison we lead to more man made destruction.

  • i say we just either make like soup with it or you know i like the other guys idea to just feed them to prison inn mates

  • POISON WTF

  • eat it ...duhhhhh

  • Damn Chinese. They can't keep their hands to themselves.

Just like those stupid SnakeHeads they've brought over.

  • ha ahah hhahahahha hahaahhaha

  • Damn dumb AMERICANS FOR IMPORTING THIS STUPID FISH IN THE 70's TO CLEAN SOUTHERN FISH HATCHERIES. haha 0:30 - 0:34.

  • we didnt import.they cae by the selfs.

  • From what the report says at 0:30 AND 0:34. Asian carp was imported to clean southern fish hatcheries. Same with those stupid snakehead fish. It's not like a bunch of asian people are going to asia and bringing them back in their suitcases! LOL what a maroon....

  • oh.and in a suitcase.WTF

  • It was a few stupid rednecks from Arkansas that brought this damn fish here.

  • Pay people a dollar a fish to catch and kill.

  • exactly what I was thinking

  • Re. pay to catch

As simple a solution as that might sound it's exactly perfect. The government used to pay gold pieces for Apache Indian scalps and scumbags came from all over to catch and kill them for the reward. No instead we poisened our own waterways.

  • I would love to eat it! don't poison it!

  • yea good idea poison a lake.! :P id throw a carp derby a few times a year with money prizes and trophys to the fishermen that bring in the most carp. that will eventually bring the numbers down.

  • @pgtv69 I don't think that would even put a dent in the asian carp population. They said the carp hatch out three times a year. I say kill 'em all and look at it as a lesson learned. According to the story, the carp haven't yet reached Lake Michigan so they would be poisoning just the rivers. The state of illinois better do something or they're going to have folks in Wisconsin and Michigan after them for not doing their part in protecting the great lakes fishing industry.

  • @VonKaNon then just have the Carp derby 6 times a year if they hatch that often.

Adding poison to a river is NEVER a good idea.

  • @pgtv69 Thinking about it more, I'd personally go with explosives. Kill 'em with a concussion.

  • @VonKaNon true if you had a row of boats on the edges of the canal and use electric currents while driving towards each other to meet at the center of the canal to herd to school and then BOOM! in the middle, thousands of dead carp strait to the starving people.

  • @VonKaNon Looks like my prediction rang somewhat true. I didn't predict Minnesota to be apart of the lawsuit against Illinois. Illinois politicians better wake up.

  • @pgtv69 They are not poisoning the lake, but the Cal Sag, and the Chicago Sanitary and Ship canal. Yes, I know it flows towards Lake Michgan, but I am sure they have ideas on how to retard the flow until the poison, once the job is done, can be diluted. Given what I have seen so far of populations in the IL river system, no fishing derby will make an impact.

  • @otef434 well one or two fishing derbys wont make a difference. but if several fishing derby's are held and the carp are being pulled out faster than they could spawn. plus let the carp be in season all year around. with no restrictions on how many you can catch.

humans are very good at endangering a species its one of the things we do best naturally ;)

  • @pgtv69 I used to watch them netting on the St. Croix river every spring. Despite taking out truckload after truckload of carp, they seem to increase in numbers. As one chap put it, I have a lifetime job just in this one spot. Trust me, as the numbers of other species dwindle, the Asian carp will increase dramatically.

  • @otef434 but how can they be certain the poison wouldnt leave the canal? and how many carp may possibly survive this strategy?

  • @pgtv69 We see in recent news, that one carp did survive the poisoning of a 6 mile area of the canal near Lockport. During that period, the canal was closed. The poison, Rotenone, is not absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract of humans. Given all this, I think it is safe to assume, being effective in a small aeraa, the chemical will disperse prior to it's discharge into the IL River.

  • @otef434 is it possible to round up the carp in the canal using electricity? and because of the BP oil spill there is alot of very experienced fishermen in need of work. they would snag em! and because the fish go top water if would be easy! i bet they would bring the numbers down significantly.

  • @pgtv69 You can't catch these fish with hooks and lines. They're filter feeders, and have to be caught via nets. Trust me, I just went and looked it up. It's complex to catch them.

  • Wow. Now that's news.

Does this mean the carp are with the terrorists?

  • They're serious when they're poisoning the lake

  • damn souns serious

  • no duh

  • cool
