  • Say whatever you want but I can never get enough of Alive in Athens with Barlow...it just kills ass! \m/

  • You picked a song that Barlow was MADE to sing. Tim being a screamer would never be able to copy that.

Just the same for songs like Ten Thousand Strong. Tim far outstrips Matt in that song. And Matt can play the song at concerts all he want but he can not hold notes at long as Tim can. Tim and Matt are far different singers and it's useless to compare them, and it useless to say Iced Earth as peaked. They made great and epic songs with Barlow and they still did it with Tim.

  • You can shit on this guy all you idiots want. Unfortunately, it isn't going to change the fact that he is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! Thankfully, The Crucible of Man, with Barlow back on vocals, is an absolute masterpiece!

  • Hey here's a message to the creater of this video. Barlow is back with I.E so, ICed Earth is truley back! He's going to be singing on the new CD The Crucible of Man Something Wicked Part 2.

  • Oh cry me a fuckking river, ripper fuckking rules!!!!

  • Sorry this guy just...sucks. Other than the fact that this guy is a fat asshole, he does not know shit about a good singer or Iced Earth.

  • To me, it is a prefernce. Barlow is more dramatic, Owens is more Metal / Hard Core. IE pieces were written more for Barlow. Even Glorious Burden, which, I have had the honor of hearing both singers on the album. Owens did a far better job on that one. Both are great singers. I think Schaefer should have written a new cd instead of re- recording the old ones.

It is beginning to be the same old shit from IE. The re recordings of FA are not better than the ones owens did. S.S.D.D.

  • I LOVE Burnt Offerings and hated Horror Show.(the only Barlow album I did not love) IMHO Horror Show was the worst IE album ever.

Glorious Burden was a very mediocre album...I do love the Gettysburg Trilogy.

The new artwork does blow. But IE always had kinda bad artwork save for the original Burnt Offerings and Dark Saga and just maybe...maybe... Stormrider...

  • I hated Glorious Burden. Not just because of Owens, he is not the worst vocalist in the world, just seems "technical" all the time and has no feeling, definetly nowhere near Barlow! It was also because of the subject matter, I could not care less about the American Military History.I like the latest album, sound is a bit different but I do like the album. The re recordings are unforgivable, the new recording is nothing compared to the amazing original version...nothing.

  • Matt Barlows vocals on the last 3 songs on SWTWC give me chills lol. His best performance I believe...awesome.

  • well this is great finally some one with all the answers.i eagerly await your next album!!!im sure schaeffer will be callin you soon for tips on how to improve his latest work!!!!

  • I don't think that the singers problem was the only serious problem in IE. Just compare the production between those songs in the Video. The first one is very vivid and energetic and has a very vengeful approach. The second one is like hitting tin cans and bloody bassy noises. It sounds totally fake like using drum machines and stuff (I dont mean that they use of course) So how can you enjoy a record when the production is totally crap?

  • Iced earth were better post horror show imo.

Golorious burden is the best IE album ever.

  • i loved framing armaggedon. Tim Owens is awesome. Only reason why people dont like it is coz Iced Earth is supposed to have Barlow. And now no doubt this new album will be waaaaaay better purely because of Barlow :D

  • Barlow kicks ass!! hes much better than tim owens in my opinion ... and i can't wiat for iced earth's new cd thats coming out in the fall called revelation abomination (something wicked part 2) with Matt as lead vocalist!

  • Something WIcked I was still a great album. Sure, it wasnt stormrider or Burnt Offerings, but so what? Its still great, in its own way. I was dissapointed too, but it grows on you; Owen outdoes himself as a vocalist in it. The best vocals he has ever done in his career are in that CD.

  • well, thats songs sound better with barlow...

but i really hate the songs from overture to wicked singing for barlow..

  • you meant the Something Wicked trilogy from the SWTWC CD? WTF?! :S

  • completely correct man i cant find anything i disaggree withxD tim sucks and anyone who can't understand that without Barlow IE suck isn't a true IE fan i mean they just seem to have lost the feeling they had about their music...thank god Matt is back and i think IE is going to become the world's best heavy metal band once again:P

  • Yeah its hard to come across bands in north america that are better than the euros...iced earth USED to be lol:P...god dam europeans are just too dam good xD

  • Matt Barlow is coming back to Iced Earth!!! Check their website out. There is a God!!!

  • Glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed in the latest album.

  • Why don't you make a part 2 of that Odyssey move you worked on about 7 months ago?

  • Well at least Matt Barlow is going to be coming back to the metal scene in 2008 with Pyramaze, and judging from what i've heard from them, it's going to be really good.

  • It is sad , but what he said is true. This band has changed and not for the better. The new songs lack the emotion , fire , passion , wickedness they once had. They have become a generic metal band.

  • OK now I'm not going to against you by any means but I am going to say this: I like Tim Owens(not mentioning "the ripper" cause I think that term is...gay?). But think that he is more suited to play in a Judas Priest tribute band rather than Iced Earth. If Jon Greely was on their newer albums again then that wouldn't be as bad as it is now with Tim; I mean, at least he doesn't box in his video.

  • Yes, unfortunately I've been thinking that Framing Armaggeddon although there is a couple decent songs on it, sort of let a lot to be desired. Dissapointing, really. Even Glorious Burden sounded a bit better than this I thought. Happens to every band I suppose.

  • To be fair however, rather than point out Tim on this alone I think their current lineup overall seems a bit dull. Santolla left and Troy Steele replaced him and nothing really seemed to stand out as far as the guitar playing, and with Schaffer more of the same. And I agree they should have NOT redone the trilogy, if it isn't broke, why fix it?

  • you're saying all the fuckin' saddest true...T.T
